Performance Division Off to a Running Start at Dressage at Devon

September 30, 2011 (Devon, Pa.) – Spectators at Dressage at Devon today had the chance to listen to step by step commentary provided by Dressage experts on Dressage at Devon Radio. This year’s event benefits from an expanded field of notable experts who are willing to share an insider’s perspective, adding engagement and enhancing interest for all levels of spectators. For the riders, experienced and novice alike, the educational opportunity is invaluable, as the listener gains real-time insight into the thought process of the judges.

“We call the ability to bring this type of event-based broadcast to individual spectators ‘edu-tainment’,” said Don Costanza, partner in the Fort Wayne, Indiana-based FLR Group. “It is well received by spectators because it brings an extra dimension to their experience.” The FLR Group provides the technology and the radios to make Dressage at Devon radio a reality.

Guy was first seated on a horse at the tender age of 16 months and began training horses seriously at age 15. When asked how he accomplishes amazing equestrian feats, he uses two words: devotion and dedication. He simply wants to be the best equestrian he can be.

Dover’s World to Highlight 128th Alltech National Horse Show

Wellington, FL – September 14, 2011 – Robert Dover, dressage expert and former Olympian, will host the President of the National Horse Show Association on an upcoming session of his popular radio program, Dover’s World. Mason Phelps, Jr. who also runs Phelps Media Group in Wellington, FL, will appear on the September 20th program of Dover’s World to discuss the 128th Alltech National Horse Show. Joining Phelps and Robert Dover will be Leo Conroy, co-manager of the Alltech National Horse Show and Vice President of the National Horse Show Association of America.

Tickets are already on sale for this prestigious event, and listeners can tune in to Dover’s World next Tuesday to learn all about this year’s highly-anticipated contest. Taking place this year at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, the Alltech National Horse Show will feature a wide array of both hunter and jumper events. In addition, the ASPCA Alfred P. Maclay finals will also occur during the show’s five-day run, November 2nd-6th, 2011.

“There is so much excitement in the air about the first Alltech National Horse Show to take place at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park,” commented Dover. “I am looking forward to speaking with Mason Phelps and Leo Conroy to hear of all the latest plans in the works to make the NHS better than ever! Taking It All In Gets a Lot Easier at Dressage at Devon 2011: Devon, Pennsylvania, September 27 – October 2, 2011

September 2, 2011 (Devon, PA) – Spectators at 2011 Dressage at Devon (www.dressageatdevon.com) will be able to add multimedia to their experience. Dressage at Devon Radio, powered by FLR Sports Radio, allows guests to enhance their knowledge and education of dressage by listening to the comments and opinions of some of the foremost experts in the world of dressage.  Spectators will also get a behind the scenes listen to critiques of the rider and horse during their performance.

Starting Friday September 30th, spectators with the credit-card sized FLR Sports Radio will be able to listen in on comments from Alison Head, Sara Schmitt, and Kem Barbosa, as well as receive special announcements and content.  On Saturday September 1st the experts will include Suzanne King, Monica Sinks and Kathy Connelly.  Sunday September 2nd will include comments and opinions by Anne Moss and several others. Visitors will be able to watch the event from anywhere on the show grounds and still listen to the exclusive commentary, available only to those with a personal receiver.

Those new to Dressage will gain a true appreciation of the sport.  Professionals will gain new insights into what goes on behind the scene in the judges’ booth.

The FLR Sports Radio receiver is a lightweight credit card-sized radio receiver that comes complete with earbuds, battery and a lanyard to hang around the neck.

Marty Bauman Joins Alltech National Horse Show as Director of Media Services

Lexington, KY – September 7, 2011 – The Alltech National Horse Show, 128th edition, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marty Bauman as Director of Media Services and Operations.  The Alltech National Horse Show will debut at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, site of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, on November 2-6, 2011.

As Director of Media Services and Operations, Bauman will provide on-site media supervision and direct overall media operations during the horse show.  He and his staff will work closely with Phelps Media Group which has overall responsibility for the National’s public relations.

“Marty and I have been friends ever since I hired him to oversee the media for the American Jumping Derby in Newport, RI, back in the 1970s,” said Mason Phelps, Jr., President of the National Horse Show and of Phelps Media Group.  “He has the respect of the entire industry and with good reason.  I am thrilled that he and his Classic Communications team will be working with Phelps Media Group to provide the best possible media services for this year’s Alltech National Horse Show.”

Bauman previously served on the media staff of the National from 1984-2001 when it was at The Meadowlands Arena and Madison Square Garden, including more than a decade as its Chief Press Officer.  He has held similar positions with some of this country’s biggest equestrian events including the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, the Hampton Classic Horse Show, the FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas and last year’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

4,000-Mile Trip on Horseback Includes Stop at Kentucky Horse Park

WHY:  Richard and Jeannette McGrath are 3,000 miles into a 4,000-mile coast-to-coast horseback journey to raise awareness and funds for Hearts Up Ranch, a serene, working ranch established in Jackson, Wyoming where “emotionally broken people can find peace with both God and themselves once again.”  Their ride began on March 4, 2010.  They have traversed the deserts and mountains of the west, winter on the plains, and the flooding and storms of the spring on the same 4 horses (who will be resting and recuperating at the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center, located at the Kentucky Horse Park before finishing the last segment of the ride in Virginia Beach). www.HeartsUpRanch.com.
