Strong Field Set to Vie for Top Honors at the National Para-Equestrian Championships

Gladstone, NJ – Competition in the National Para-Equestrian Championships featuring the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage Paralympic Selection Trials is set to begin Monday in five grades. All 24 horses presented at the Veterinary Inspection Sunday afternoon were accepted. Riders will perform three tests over three days of competition held at Pine Meadow which is part of the USET Foundation Headquarters. On Monday, riders will compete in the FEI Team Test in their respective grade, they then return to ring Tuesday to perform FEI Individual Tests. Competition concludes Wednesday as riders showcase their Freestyle Tests.

2012 marks the first time the National Para-Equestrian Championships are being held as a stand-alone competition.

The USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage Paralympic Selection Trials has seen tremendous growth as 16 riders are vying to represent the U.S. at the 2012 Paralympic Games, August 30 – September 4, while only six athletes vied for a team spot in 2008. Sydney Collier, Grade II, is the sole competitor in contention for National Championship honors; at 14 years old she does not meet the minimum age requirement to compete in London.

Peters Leads the Way in the National Grand Prix Dressage Championship

Three Rising Stars Are Halfway to National Titles at the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions

Gladstone, NJ – The first portion of four USEF National Dressage Championships got under way at the USET Foundation Headquarters Saturday. The Grand Prix National Dressage Championship got the day started in the Dick and Jane Brown Arena. All eyes were watching because this Championship also serves as the USEF Selection Trial for the US Dressage Team for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The Ground Jury of Axel Steiner, Linda Zang, Hilda Gurney, Uwe Mechlem, Janet Foy and Natalie Lamping rotated throughout the day to judge the competitions.

The storied facility, which has been used for both training and competition for decades, hosts current champions, as well as future – the Young Rider, Junior and Pony Rider National Championships all got under way on day one of the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions.

Gladstone, NJ – Over the next two weeks a total of six USEF National Dressage Champions will be crowned, along with the U.S. Dressage Team taking a step closer to the London Olympic Games. The first week of the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions got underway Friday with the Veterinary Inspections and all 47 horses were deemed fit and sound to compete. Competitors in the Grand Prix, Young Rider, Junior Rider and Pony Rider division will compete June 9-10 in the Dick and Jane Brown Dressage Arena at the historic USET Foundation Headquarters.

National Grand Prix Dressage Championship

In addition to crowning a National Champion, the Grand Prix division also serves as the USEF Dressage Selection Trial for the US Dressage Team for the 2012 Olympic Games. These horses and riders will compete this weekend and return to the Brown Arena June 15th and 16th to conclude their competition. Both weekends they will contest the FEI Grand Prix Test and the FEI Olympic Grand Prix Test, with the score from each test counting towards 25% of the overall average.

FEI Bureau Allocates Championships at Spring Meeting

Lausanne (SUI), 8 June 2012 – The FEI Bureau allocated a total of 23 Continental Championships (2012-2015) during its meeting at FEI Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI) on 8 June 2012.

The following Championships were allocated for 2013:

Children’s International Jumping Classic Final, Valle de Bravo (MEX), 29 January – 2 February.

Balkan Eventing Championships, Eskisehir (TUR), 21-23 September.

Children’s International Jumping Classic Final, Brasilia (BRA), December (dates to be confirmed).

FEI European Jumping Championships for Young Riders, Juniors & Children, Vejer de la Frontera (ESP), 1-7 July.

Charlotte Jacobs Wins R. W. Mutch Equitation Championship at Devon Horse Show

East Aurora, NY – June 5, 2012 – For the second consecutive year, talented junior rider Charlotte Jacobs took home the R. W. “Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship during the prestigious Devon Horse Show. Jacobs and her leading equitation mount Stallone VDL were once again at the top of the leaderboard to claim the coveted honor. Later that weekend, Jacobs flew to HITS-On-The-Hudson, where she placed first and second in the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic with Kachina and Cyrina Z, respectively.

Jacobs and Stallone VDL have been top competitors in the equitation ring throughout 2012, and during the Devon Horse Show their mastership of the discipline shone though. They earned the top call in the Pessoa/USEF Hunter Seat Medal, and then won the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search. At the end of the Devon Horse Show’s Junior Weekend, they were presented with the R. W. “Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship for the second year in a row.

Magnificent Seven All Around Stock Horse Championship Returns to Western States Horse Expo

Sacramento, CA – May 31, 2012 – The Western States Horse Expo is just around the corner and riders for the Magnificent Seven All Around Stock Horse Championship are gearing up their horses for the unique event. Seventeen of the country’s top competitors will participate in the intense one-day riding competition, where one horse and one rider demonstrate their skill and versatility in four events: herd work, rein work, steer stopping and fence work. The action peaks on Friday night when seven finalists are just four events away from a $25,000 purse, and the best horseman will receive the winning title. The Western States Horse Expo is scheduled for June 8-10, 2012 at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento, CA.

The event will feature the leading riders in the nation, including Russell Dilday, who will be aboard Scott and Darnell Trueblood’s Pepinic Chex, and Kevin Cantrelle’s Topsails Rein Maker. In 2007 and 2008, Dilday was the event’s reserve champion, and now looks to claim the winning honors. Ken Wold will ride Victory Phelps’ Shes A Catty Lady, and has ridden finalist at every national event, including the NCHA Futurity/Derbies, NRHA Futurity/Derbies, and the AQHA World Shows.

Charlotte Jacobs Donates $17,000 to Danny and Ron’s Rescue Following Saratoga Springs Horse Shows

East Aurora, NY – May 22, 2012 – Young rider Charlotte Jacobs has kicked off the spring show season with big wins during the Saratoga Springs Horse Shows, competing in the jumper, equitation, and hunter rings. Over the past two weeks, Jacobs piloted her mounts to championship honors in the High and Low Junior Jumpers, as well as top finishes in the $25,000 Saratoga Cup Grand Prix and $25,000 David B. Wood Cup. Earning over $17,000 in prize money, Jacobs donated her winnings to Danny and Ron’s Rescue, a no kill rescue organization that has placed over 4196 dogs in loving homes.

During the first week of the Saratoga Springs Horse Show, Jacobs dominated the High and Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers divisions. She nabbed the Low Division Championship aboard Robin, and the both the championship and reserve championship awards in the High Division with Cyrina Z and Kachina, respectively. Jacobs then went on to compete in the $25,000 Saratoga Cup Grand Prix where she qualified for the jump-off and placed fourth and fifth on Karonda V. Schl’Hof CH and Cyrina Z, respectively.

Lone Star Emerges Champion with Hunt Tosh in Performance Hunters at Kentucky Spring Classic

Lexington, KY – May 17, 2012 – The day was filled with intense competition as top riders vied for the championship awards in their divisions today at the Kentucky Spring Classic. Louise Serio led the way with Casino, dominating the First Year Greens, while Scott Stewart earned the championships in his respective divisions aboard Beholden and Dedication. Hunt Tosh guided Cold Harbor to the Regular Conformation Hunter Championship and Rosalynn to the High Performance Hunters highest honors. The distinguished Lone Star returned to the ring for the second day of competition, earning a second day of straight 88s with Tosh in the irons, eventually taking the Performance 3’6″ Hunters Championship.

Hunt Tosh and Lone Star, owned by Dr. Betsee Parker of Middleburg, VA, were victors at the end of the day in the Performance 3’6″ Hunters, as the veteran pair began their return to the show rung. The duo earned both blue ribbons in yesterday, and picked up the second place ribbon during their first round over fences today and the third place in the under saddle. Hayley Barnhill and Lennon, owned by Reid Patton of Nashville, TN, took the reserve award.

Cassidy Zimmerman Wins NAL/WIHS Children’s Hunter Classic at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY – May 13, 2012 – The NAL/WIHS Children’s Classic welcomed the final day of the Kentucky Spring Horse show today. Although the riders were greeted with sheets of rain throughout the duration of the morning and afternoon, this did not lessen the competition as horse and rider combinations vied for the top honors in their respective divisions. It was Cassidy Zimmerman who not only picked up the reserve championship honors in the Children’s 15-17 Hunters, but also triumphed in the NAL/WIHS Children’s Classic with Portafina, riding to the overall total of 159 points.

The early afternoon promised talent for the last class of the day, the NAL/WIHS Children’s Classic, with several high scores and promising hunter rounds. The champion of the Children’s 14 and Under Hunter division, Avery Hinson of Plain City, OH, and Galiano, posted the high score of the division with their second round score of an 81 to carry over into the Classic as their first round total. The duo picked up the first and third place ribbons over fences today, and combined with their honors from yesterday, they picked up the division’s championship honors. Jane Brooks of Cincinnati, OH, and Lifeline, rode to the reserve championship title with their consistent second place ribbons throughout the over fences and under saddle.
