East Aurora, NY – May 22, 2012 – Young rider Charlotte Jacobs has kicked off the spring show season with big wins during the Saratoga Springs Horse Shows, competing in the jumper, equitation, and hunter rings. Over the past two weeks, Jacobs piloted her mounts to championship honors in the High and Low Junior Jumpers, as well as top finishes in the $25,000 Saratoga Cup Grand Prix and $25,000 David B. Wood Cup. Earning over $17,000 in prize money, Jacobs donated her winnings to Danny and Ron’s Rescue, a no kill rescue organization that has placed over 4196 dogs in loving homes.

During the first week of the Saratoga Springs Horse Show, Jacobs dominated the High and Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers divisions. She nabbed the Low Division Championship aboard Robin, and the both the championship and reserve championship awards in the High Division with Cyrina Z and Kachina, respectively. Jacobs then went on to compete in the $25,000 Saratoga Cup Grand Prix where she qualified for the jump-off and placed fourth and fifth on Karonda V. Schl’Hof CH and Cyrina Z, respectively.

In the hunter ring, Jacobs continued her winning ways to capture the Large Junior Hunter Championship aboard Bring It On, who went on to win the Amateur-Owner 3’3″ Hunter Championship with her mother, Joan Jacobs, the following week. During the WIHS Equitation and the USEF Hunter Seat Medal, Jacobs took home blue ribbons riding Greer Hindle’s Freedom and winning the prestigious Governor’s Cup.

“I am leasing Freedom this year, and he was great during the first week,” said Jacobs. “We’re still getting to know each other a bit, but he’s been super and I am very excited to continue with him. Bring It On is always great. My mom wasn’t there the first week so I had the opportunity to show him and he was perfect.”

During the second week of the Saratoga Springs Horse Shows, Jacobs won the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic with Kachina, to pick up the division’s championship award once again, while earning the reserve championship with Promised Land. In the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, she won the Classic with Karonda V. Schl’Hof CH, tying for the reserve championship award with her second mount Robin.

At the end of the week, Jacobs competed in the $25,000 David B. Wood Cup, where she garnered the second place honors with Kachina. “There were only three in the jump-off and I went second, just before Darragh Kenny,” she explained. “The first person had two down, so I went in tried to be as smooth and as fast as possible, but we ended up having a rail and Darragh was clean. I was very happy with my horse though. The grand prix classes have been a lot of fun, and it’s nice to have multiple horses because it helps me gain experience.”

Jacob’s success in the show ring during the Saratoga Spring Horse Shows netted $17,000 in prize money, which she chose to donate to Danny and Ron’s Rescue. “It’s a great cause and they are doing an amazing thing,” she expressed. “When the dogs are adopted the owners normally give a small donation, but Danny and Ron really need support and I think it’s nice to be able to do this for them. It makes me feel really good and gives me an extra reason to go out there each week and do my best. My family loves dogs and we really want to support their mission.”

Later this week, Jacobs will travel with Missy Clark, John Brennan and the team from North Run to compete at the prestigious Devon Horse Show in Devon, PA.
