April 7, 2014 Saratoga Springs, New York – The Capital Fund of Saratoga County, Inc., through its Saratoga Springs Horse Show and in conjunction with Productions East Media, is pleased to announce that the 2014 Saratoga Springs Horse Show will be webcasted and cable-casted as a telethon benefiting the almost 30 charities it has helped over the past two years.

Held on a portion of the property of the newly named National Landmark and artist retreat Yaddo, and portions of the historic NYRA Saratoga Race Track, the Saratoga Springs Horse Show is in its 55th consecutive year of competitive shows. It is the first United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Premier Hunter and Level 4 Jumper outdoor show in the northeast each year. As a volunteer run charity event, it attracts on average about 400 horses each week from all along the east coast of the US and from Canada. Competing in three show rings, exhibitors (competitors) range in age from around 4 years old through senior citizens.

Each of these show rings will be webcasted through the Saratoga Springs Horse Show website. This webcasting is “pay-to-donate,” meaning proceeds from the fee ($6 per hour after the first hour or $30 for the week) will go towards supporting the charities. In addition, a fourth channel will televise our telethon which will feature interviews from the charities being supported and from the competitors and trainers at the show. All the webcasting will be archived for a year on todocast.tv. Links to this webcasting can also be found on some of the charity websites.

In addition, the telethon will be televised by Time-Warner cable on their public access channel. It will be a mixture of the 3 show rings and the telethon desk and this is FREE. You will still have a chance to donate through the text line displayed on the screen, our website, our phone service, and via emails.

“We are excited to bring this technology to our horse show and to be able to reach so many in our efforts to help others in need,” said Tom Fueston, President of the Capital Fund. The Capital Fund was formed in late 2011 as a 501(c)3 charity to operate the Saratoga Springs Horse Show and through its efforts has provided over $80,000 in assistance to local charities. These include over 25 food banks, Saratoga Center for Family, Shelters of Saratoga, EOC Soup Kitchen, Rebuilding Together Saratoga, local hospice groups, Saratoga County Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center, Franklin Community Center, B.E.S.T., and several others.

“Our motto ‘helping others help others’ is what we are all about,” says Fueston. “We hope that through this effort we can expand that help.”

Jon Cromer from Productions East Media said, “This webcasting and cablecasting will be the model to follow for all the charity horse shows considering adding a telethon as a means of fund raising to help others. Everyone should come to or watch the show and donate to this great cause.”

The Saratoga Springs Horse Show will be held April 30th to May 4th and on May 7th to May 11th. It is located off Exit 14 of I-87 (Northway) on Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs, New York adjacent to the NYRA Race Track. Admission is $4 per person over 12.
