Wellington, FL – March 1, 2012 – Olympic Silver Medalist Peter Leone piloted Monica Carrera’s Lincourt Gino (Gino) to the win to kick off CSIO Week during the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival. Leone and Gino topped a starting field of 28 horse and rider combinations on opening day during the speed class with a quick and clear effort over the challenging course.

“The course, designed by one of our country’s best course designers, Anthony D’Ambrosio, and it was excellent,” noted Leone. “It included water and had a very difficult line by the in-gate and provided the opportunity to work out of a gallop.”

Leone, who is a very methodical and plan-oriented competitor, found the course to ride exactly as anticipated. Gino and Leone were able to answer the course’s questions effortlessly, stopping the clock at 61.23 seconds, a full second a head of the second place finisher. Recently, Leone and Gino were fifth in the $50,000 G & C Farms Jumping Derby, laying down the fastest time of the field.

Wellington, FL and East Aurora, NY – February 29, 2012 – Junior rider Charlotte Jacobs of North Star Ventures continued her winning streak in the equitation ring during Week VII of the Winter Equestrian Festival. Jacobs and Stallone VDL topped a field of 59 entries during the WIHS Equitation, and then went on to win the Platinum Performance USEF Show Jumping Talent Search.

During Week V of the Winter Equestrian Festival, Jacobs was also victorious in the WIHS Equitation with her stellar mount Stallone VDL. This week, the duo won the jumper phase and placed second in the hunter phase to claim the overall blue ribbon. Jacobs and Stallone VDL also earned the top call during the Platinum Performance USEF Show Jumping Talent Search. They wrapped up the weekend by placing second in the ASPCA Maclay.

“Stallone VDL was really good this weekend; he’s great at his job and he always there for me,” remarked Jacobs. “The WIHS Equitation was a big class and a lot of the people that do well during the Finals in the Fall are down here, so it’s tough competition and very nice to do well. He was perfect in the Talent Search as well, because he doesn’t care about the open water or anything like that. He can be a little lazy sometimes, but once you get him going he’s very straightforward.”

THERMAL, CA (February 28, 2012) – Nick Haness of San Clemente, California had a tremendous afternoon on Sunday at HITS Thermal when he piloted three horses to ribbons in the $5,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix, including the blue aboard Carolyn Mittler’s Cristiano to cap an action-packed week for hunter riders during Desert Circuit IV.

Haness was impressive in the popular hunter prix that featured more than 50 horse-and-rider combinations in the first round, over a course set by Rian Beals. The seasoned hunter rider brought home a score of 92 in the first round and set the stage for some tight competition. In the second round, Haness and Cristiano nailed down the victory in the Devoucoux class when they scored an 89 for a total score of 173 and the blue ribbon. More importantly, Haness looks like he will be a “shoo-in” to return for the Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final that will take place at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York this fall. Last year, the rising star finished in second place aboard Jessica Singer’s Cruise and collected $90,000 in prize money.

Gulf Coast Winter Classic Week III

We finished our third week in Gulfport today and wow has time zoomed by.  As of today we are half way through our Winter Circuit in Gulfport and each week seems to be getting better and better and I know it’s because of the wonderful exhibitors we have showing this year.

Next week (week 4) is our Celebration of Hunters with our USHJA International Hunter Derby on the Grand Prix Field and we also will host the “County Party” on Friday night.  You would think after the incredible party that Domino’s Pizza hosted this week with the jungle theme and great band that nothing could be better but this one is always a favorite among exhibitors too.

This week the Gulf Coast Classic Company started with ShowNet and streaming video in  the Grand Prix Field and main hunter ring.  Watch your horse or just take a look at the wonderful Grand Prix Ring in Gulfport.

THERMAL, CA (February 26, 2012) – Michelle Spadone seems to have some great chemistry with Alejandro Rodal’s Uitteraard. After just seven shows together, the pair won their first Grand Prix as a team in last night’s $53,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix CSI2*-W, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, before a sold-out crowd in the indoor arena at the HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, California. Just two weeks ago during Desert Circuit III, Spadone and Uitteraard finished ninth in the $53,000 HITS Grand Prix CSI2*W, presented by Pfizer Animal Health.

Canadian Course Designer Danny Foster set an exciting 1.60 meter course with lots of twists and turns. Riders faced an early combination (3a-b) at the third fence, a liverpool that caught some by surprise mid-way through the course and a triple (12a-b-c) on the last line towards the finish.
