Wellington, Florida – Allan Donnan of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, couldn’t say no when he found out that JustWorld International was looking for someone to sponsor the salary of a school teacher at its project site in Cambodia.

“I don’t think I could have walked away from the opportunity,” said the financial planner, who moonlights as a highly entertaining and engaging horse show announcer.  “I was looking through the projects available, and it just jumped off the page for me.  To be able to provide a teacher for that amount of money – it was a no-brainer.”

He continued, “Education is the first step to getting people out of the situation they are in.  It provides them with hope, and it provides them with opportunities.  What better place to start than that?  When these kids are educated, they have a much greater chance of creating better lives for themselves and for their families.”

Canadian Dressage Frostbite Series Youth Fundraiser Clinics

Top Riders to Educate Ontario Youth and Raise Funds for Dressage

A new fundraising series will showcase this winter for Ontario Junior and Young Riders. The “Dressage Frostbite Series” was started because Ontario has talented riders that need support. This series will give Canadian youth the chance to learn from some of the best riders in the nation.

There will be a series of fundraising clinics for eight months beginning in October. At each clinic these talented young youth will have the opportunity to ride with a different Olympian, Short Listed “A” Rider or “O” judge. The goal will be to further their skills to prepare them for what is hoped to be a very successful 2013 show season.

The ultimate goal is to not only help these riders develop their skills, but to also bring the equine high performance community together to inspire the young riders who live in Ontario, Canada.

JustWorld Ambassador Takes Fundraising Initiative to New Heights Madison McDougall Helps Thunderbird Show Park Raise $15,000

Langley, British Columbia – JustWorld Rider Ambassador Madison McDougall has helped the Thunderbird Show Park, in Langley, BC, raise $15,000 in support of JustWorld International.  For the second year in a row, Thunderbird hosted a number of fundraising initiatives in conjunction with their summer tournament show series.  Wildly successful and highly entreating, all of the funds raised from the events will go to support the ‘Adopt a Project’ campaign, which identifies opportunities to support a number of highly successful nutrition, health and hygiene, education, and leadership and cultural development programs.

McDougall was inspired to take on a leadership role in Thunderbird’s fundraising efforts after seeing firsthand the work JustWorld is doing.

“I went to Guatemala with JustWorld in April,” explained McDougall, 18, who has been a JustWorld Rider Ambassador for the past two years.  “It was an absolutely life changing experience!  We went to the project site and the kids there amazed me.  They face so much uncertainty and sorrow in their lives, but they always seem to be smiling and happy, always saying ‘I love you.’  You come home and complain about the color of your hair, and suddenly realize that doesn’t really seem important anymore.”

Palgrave, Ontario – It’s more than just the outstanding competition that draws hundreds of competitors to the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament each year.  Running at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON, from September 19-23, 2012, the annual event also plays host to the Jumping for Dreams Celebration, in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.

Held on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23, the two-day celebration features a number of ways for competitors, spectators and sponsors to get involved and help raise funds for the non-profit foundation dedicated to fulfilling wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

“I think we’re one of the only shows that places such a heavy focus on a charity,” said Linda Pabst of Nobleton, ON, a long-time volunteer at the tournament who acts as Chair of the Children’s Wish Jumping for Dreams committee and the Unique Boutiques and Family Village committee.  “There are always various aspects to the fundraising we do during the tournament, but it’s a very important cause.  All of the volunteers and staff work their hearts and souls out to try and make it an amazing event year after year.  The best part is watching it all come together and making these dreams come true.”

Gstaad, Switzerland – The Gstaad Polo Club played host to JustWorld International’s first ever polo fundraising event, raising 20,000 Swiss francs during the prestigious Hublot Polo Gold Cup held August 16 to 19 in Gstaad, Switzerland.  JustWorld International is a not-for-profit, humanitarian organization, which works as a catalyst for positive change in the developing world by helping impoverished children.

Four teams took to the field to battle for top spot, all while raising awareness and funds for JustWorld International.  For each goal scored, the tournament donated 100 francs to benefit children at JustWorld’s project site in Cambodia.  The announcers also took each goal as an opportunity to raise awareness about JustWorld’s programs, making each one count for so much more than simply a single point scored in the game.

A total of 54 goals were scored over the two-day competition, raising 5,400 francs.  Further donations by Gstaad Polo Club President and tournament organizer Pierre Genecand as well as other generous donors brought the total amount raised to 20,000 Swiss francs.
