JustWorld and Blenheim EquiSports Raise the Stakes

Las Vegas, Nevada – Blenheim EquiSports, a leading equestrian event management company based in California, has gone all in, partnering with JustWorld International for its upcoming Las Vegas event.  JustWorld is a not-for-profit, humanitarian organization working as a catalyst for positive change in the developing world by helping impoverished children.

Blenheim EquiSports and JustWorld International will launch their partnership at the 2011 CSI2*-W Las Vegas National, featuring $130,000 in prize money, held November 2 to 6 at the South Point Hotel and Casino.  Several fundraising and awareness events will be held, including the signature JustWorld Horseless Show, which sees human competitors jumping obstacles on foot.  Spectators can bet on great entertainment as they watch competitors race over a course of sponsored obstacles in the South Point Equestrian Arena concourse in their own ‘indoor’ event.

“We see tremendous opportunity to expand JustWorld’s outreach to the equestrian community on the west coast by developing a partnership,” said Melissa Brandes-Braunstein, Senior Vice-President of Marketing for Blenheim EquiSports.  “We look forward to a fabulous mix of events at the Las Vegas National.  It will be fun for all, all for a great cause.”

Tredennick Gallops to Win in $31,000 International Open Jumper Victory at 53rd WIHS

Washington, D.C. – October 27, 2011 – The 53rd Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) continued today with classes for jumpers. The International Open Jumpers had two classes, and Sarah Tredennick of Denver, CO, rode Vigaro to the win in the $31,000 International Open Jumper Jump-off class. Todd Minikus and Sweetheart wowed the crowd in their Uncle Sam costume and cleared the Georgetown Cupcake Joker fence to win the $20,000 International Open Jumper Gambler’s Choice Costume class. Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers competed today as well. KC van Aarem and Mastermind won the Low division class, while Meagan Nusz and Banana d’Ive captured the High division win.

Tonight was the always popular “Barn Night,” presented by Dover Saddlery, where local barns, teams, and groups celebrate equestrian sport with their barnmates, friends, and families. Breyer Animal Creations had a Stablesmates Painting booth. Contests such as Best Banner, Best Video, Best Barn Spirit, and Largest Group Contest were held for special prizes like a Kawasaki All-Terrain Vehicle courtesy of Gaithersburg Equipment Company, and gift certificates from Dover Saddlery. Country’s Oldest Indoor Horse Show Comes to Kentucky

What are you doing next week? Anything really exciting? Riding season is winding down… weather is getting chilly… you’re looking forward to Thanksgiving but it’s not quite here.

Hop in the car and come to the National Horse Show at the Kentucky Horse Park November 2-6th — this is America’s OLDEST INDOOR HORSESHOW, founded in 1883 and held in Madison Square Garden in New York for many years.

Now it has moved to Kentucky, for what we hope will be a permanent home.

The Marshall & Sterling League Mid-West Finals Crown Champions at the Lamplight Equestrian Center

WAYNE, IL – October 26, 2011 – The Marshall & Sterling League Mid-West Finals were held September 13-18 at the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois. This regionally-located Final took place during the Showplace Fall Classic and featured a total of 92 hunter, jumper and equitation riders.

Child riders have been the cornerstone of the Marshall & Sterling League since its inception as they compete all year for a chance to show at the Finals. The $2,500 Marshall & Sterling Children’s Jumper Championship and $1,000 Marshall & Sterling Children’s Hunter Championship saw two rising stars achieve top honors.

The $2,500 Marshall & Sterling Children’s Jumper Championship featured 18 horse-and-rider combinations as Ryan Goodman of Vernon Hills, Illinois took home the Championship aboard Adrienne Marciano’s Pulsatilla W.

“She [Pulsatilla W] and I have an amazing connection,” said Goodman of his 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood. “She is always there to help me out when necessary. The class was a great opportunity for me, especially being so close to home.”

Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center to Host Annual George H. Morris Educational Seminar in November

Buffalo, NY – October 21, 2011 – The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC) is pleased to announce their annual educational clinic with the renowned George H. Morris will be taking place the weekend of November 11, 12, and 13, 2011. Held at the BTRC facility in Buffalo, NY, the opportunity to partake in this event will be open to three groups of eight riders (Intermediate, Advanced, Jumper), as well as auditors seeking to gain knowledge from the esteemed Morris through observation. Spots are available for auditors at $75 per person per day or $200 for all three days. Applications for auditing are available by contacting the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center at (716) 877-9295.

A legendary horseman and current Chef d’Equipe of the United States Show Jumping Team, Morris has played an integral role, not only in the development of countless renowned horses and riders, but also in the development of the current equestrian sport. He has often been referred to as the founding father of hunt seat equitation. Second to none, his teachings, technique, and style are revered around the world. Over the course of his career, Morris has been highly successful as a rider, coach, clinician, author, and judge. His insight and guidance are invaluable to anyone looking to further their riding skills, whether as a participant or as an auditor. The clinic will focus as much on horsemanship as it does on riding, offering attendees firsthand knowledge for success.

The daily clinic schedule will include the first group of intermediate riders from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by advanced riders from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The final group of jumper/demo riders will commence at 2:30 and run until 4:30 p.m.

WIHS Regional Horse Show & Zone 3 Finals

Washington, DC – October 17, 2011 – Polish your boots and spiff up your horses because The Washington International Regional Horse Show & Zone 3 Finals starts this week. This popular show is the sister event to the Washington International Horse Show, the country’s leading metropolitan indoor horse show, held the following week at Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C. In addition to being a top show in its own right with a broad selection of classes for riders of all levels, the WIHS Regional Show offers several last-minute ways to qualify for the big event at Verizon Center.

The Regional will take place Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21-23, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD. The U.S. Hunter Jumper Assn. (USHJA) Zone 3 Finals, hosted by the Regional, will be held on Sunday. A warm-up day on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will give horses and riders a chance to acclimate to the indoor and outdoor arenas before the show begins.

Riders across the country compete year-round to earn enough points to qualify for Verizon Center. The Regional Show provides a great opportunity for top riders from our local area as well. The Regional Show’s Children’s and Adult Hunter champions will qualify for the WIHS Children’s and Adult Championship held Tuesday evening, Oct. 25, and the top Regional Horses and Ponies owned by exhibitors living within 100 miles of Washington, D.C. will qualify for the Regional Hunter Finals on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Alltech National Horse Show Honors Men and Women in Uniform

Lexington, KY – October 18, 2011 – The Alltech National Horse Show, 128th edition, now just two weeks away from its grand debut at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, announced today that it will pay tribute to men and women in uniform, with a special ticket package on Thursday. November 3rd.

Men and women in the military and members of police and fire departments, who wear their uniforms, can take advantage of a special, money saving two-for-one ticket special during the Thursday afternoon or evening performances. Also, kids 12 and under are admitted free with the purchase of an adult ticket.

The Alltech National Horse Show, 128th Edition, will be held from November 2-6, 2011, at the beautiful, new Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Schaefer Raposa Earns Top Honors in Pessoa/USEF Hunter Seat Equitation Medal Finals at Pennsylvania National Horse Show

Harrisburg, PA – Capping off an eventful junior weekend at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, the Pessoa/USEF Hunter Seat Equitation Medal Finals presented by Randolph College saw Schaefer Raposa of Wellington, FL, earn the coveted championship honors. Edging out some of the most skilled young riders in the nation, Raposa smoothly tackled the first two rounds aboard her talented mount Charlie Z, as well as one challenging final test. Her quiet confidence garnered the top spot by evening’s end, with Brittany Hurst of Jackson, NJ, and Allison Fithian of Monterey, CA, finishing second and third, respectively. Rounding out the top four from the final test was Katie Tyler of North Kingstown, RI.

Today’s championship event featured two demanding rounds of competition followed by a test of the top four riders. The first course featured three imposing double combinations, a skinny coop without standards, and a triple bar. The judges invited the top 25 riders to return for the second course, which began with a three fence bending line, an oxer-oxer double combination, and a difficult plank vertical.
