Third Time Lucky for Laura-Jane Tidball in Thunderbird’s SSG Promotion

Fort Langley, British Columbia – Laura-Jane Tidball of Fort Langley, BC, made it three in a row when she took home yet another cash bonus as part of the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion during the Summer Fort Classic at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC.

Tidball was wearing her SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves when she topped a starting field of 35 entries to win the $15,000 USHJA Chronicle of the Horse International Hunter Derby on Saturday, August 18.  She had previously earned the SSG bonus after winning the $5,000 Cobblestone Derby on Saturday, June 30, and the $1,500 Canadian Hunter Derby on July 7.  Tidball picked up a $500 bonus from SSG Riding Gloves on all three occasions.

“I ride all of my horses in my SSG ‘Digitals’ now,” said Tidball, whose grandparents, Jump Canada Hall of Fame inductees George and Dianne Tidball, founded Thunderbird Show Park.  “I love how well they perform in all types of conditions, and the fact that they are washable is fantastic!”

Shane Sweetnam and Shawn Casady Cash In with SSG Riding Gloves

Lexington, Kentucky – Shane Sweetnam of Ireland and Shawn Casady of Midtown, Tennessee, both picked up bonus money in the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion during the Bluegrass Festival held August 15 to 19 in Lexington, KY.

Sweetnam won the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic on Friday, August 17, with a double clear performance aboard Amaretto D’Arco, a 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion owned by Spy Coast Farm.  Posting one of four double clear performances, Sweetnam’s time of 39.95 seconds gave him the victory over Kaitlin Campbell of Brookeville, MD, riding Rocky W, who stopped the clock in 40.24 seconds.

“I have been using the SSG ‘Digital’ Riding Gloves for quite a while, and I have really grown to like them,” said Sweetnam.  “They have a really good grip, are comfortable, and work no matter what the weather is like.  I am thrilled to have earned the bonus money again.”

JustWorld International Partners with Hampton Classic Horse Show

Bridgehampton, New York – For the sixth consecutive year, Just World International will partner with the Hampton Classic Horse Show taking place August 26 to September 2, 2012, in Bridgehampton, NY.

For the past five years, JustWorld International and the Hampton Classic Horse Show have enjoyed a successful partnership promoting JustWorld’s dedication to helping underprivileged children in developing nations around the world.

This year, the Hampton Classic Horse Show will once again feature several JustWorld fundraising and awareness events including the popular Horseless Horse Show and Silent Auction.  Beginning at approximately 4 p.m. during the Exhibitor’s Party on Friday, August 31, the JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show invites children of all ages to compete on foot in a variety of different classes including Short Stirrup Jumpers, Children’s Jumper, High Jump Puissance, Pair Relay Jumpers and a Grand Prix with a Jump-Off.  Ribbons and prizes will be presented in all divisions.

Yann Candele Wins $50,000 NationWide Auto Warranty Grand Prix at Inaugural Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments

Orangeville, Ontario – Yann Candele of Caledon, ON, claimed his second grand prix victory in a row at the inaugural Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments held August 15-19 at the Orangeville Agricultural Society (OAS) Event Centre in Orangeville, ON.

Candele claimed victory in the $50,000 Grand Prix, presented by NationWide Auto Warranty, on Sunday, August 19, riding Carlotta Singular la Magnifica.  Two days earlier, he had won the $25,000 Hayes Co. Grand Prix aboard Game Ready, a 12-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Susan Grange, while Carlotta Singular la Magnifica placed second.

As the traveling alternates for the Canadian Olympic Show Jumping Team at the 2012 London Olympic Games, Candele and Carlotta Singular la Magnifica were making their first competitive appearance since arriving back on Canadian soil.  The long trip home didn’t hamper their performance.  The pair jumped to the top of the starting field of 22 horses to take the win in the $50,000 Grand Prix, presented by NationWide Auto Warranty.

Yann Candele Sweeps $25,000 Hayes Co. Grand Prix

Orangeville, Ontario – Yann Candele of Caledon, ON, captured the top two spots in the $25,000 Hayes Co. Grand Prix on Friday, August 17 at the inaugural Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments running August 15-19 at the Orangeville Agricultural Society (OAS) Event Centre in Orangeville, ON.

Fresh off his return from the 2012 London Olympics, where he was the traveling alternate for the Canadian Olympic Team for Show Jumping, Candele was one of only three riders to post a clear round over the track set by two-time Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela, who also arrived direct from London.  Candele advanced to the jump-off with two mounts, Game Ready and Carlotta Singular la Magnifica, both owned by Susan Grange.

First to return to the ring was 2008 Olympic team silver medalist Mac Cone of King, ON, riding Amor Van de Rostal, a 12-year-old bay Belgium Warmblood gelding owned by Chadburn Holdings Inc.  The pair laid down a clear round, stopping the clock in 46.08 seconds and putting the pressure on those still to come.

Fantastic Weekend for JustWorld International in France

Fontainebleau and Chantilly, France – JustWorld International’s European supporters helped raise 5,500€ during the European Pony Championship held July 15 to 22 in Fontainebleau, France, and the CSI5* Jumping Chantilly held July 19 to 22 in Chantilly, France, for the not-for-profit, humanitarian organization, which works as a catalyst for positive change in the developing world by helping impoverished children.  The fundraising efforts marked the official JustWorld International re-launch in Europe.

Fundraising coordinator Tess Nooren helped by Andrea Gamboa and Sacha Bianovici had their work cut out for them during the JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show at the European Pony Championship.  More than 80 competitors took part in the JustWorld signature fundraising event, racing around a course of obstacles on foot, attempting to leave all the jumps in place while finishing in the fastest time.  Participants competed in four separate classes, judged by official judge Gilles Petit, including the Mini Prix, Grand Prix, Pair Relay and Puissance, with announcers Alison Drummond and Yannick Bichon commentating on the action, and dedicated volunteer Xavier Boudon making it all happen.

Marisa Hutton Claims Cash Bonus from SSG Riding Gloves

Petaluma, California – Marisa Hutton of Santa Barbara, CA was awarded a $1,000 bonus by SSG Riding Gloves as part of its ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion after winning the $10,000 Aubrey Grace Memorial Children’s/Adult Amateur Classic on August 5 during the Giant Steps Charity Classic at the Sonoma Horse Park in Petaluma, CA.

Riding Larissa, a 12-year-old German Warmblood mare owned by Eldorado 29, Hutton topped a competitive field of 36 to take the win.  More than half of the competitors were wearing SSG ‘Digital’ gloves, giving them a chance to win the $1,000 bonus.

“I really like the gloves,” said Hutton, who trains with Samantha and William Martin.  “I didn’t really ride with gloves before this.  I borrowed a friend’s pair and wore them for a few days before the class and ended up going out and buying my own pair.”

She continued, “I think the promotion is really smart.  It definitely pushed me to buy my SSG ‘Digitals’ more quickly and it adds that extra incentive to do well.”

East Dorset, Vermont – Colin Syquia, of Ancramdale, NY, rode Perrin Martin’s Don Pedro to victory in the $15,000 3’3” NEHJA Hunter Derby, sponsored by Oughton Limited, on Thursday, August 9, at the 2012 Vermont Summer Festival in East Dorset, VT.  The six-week competition began on July 4 and continues through August 12 at Harold Beebe Farm.

The $15,000 3’3” NEHJA Hunter Derby was the final derby event of the six-week Vermont circuit.  In order to qualify for the class, a rider or owner must have competed in a hunter derby during weeks one through five of the 2012 competition.  The $15,000 3’3” NEHJA Hunter Derby was generously sponsored by Oughton Limited, a Vermont-based equestrian luggage manufacturer that presented a beautiful ‘Wellie’ barn tote to the weekly derby winner. The final winner also received a pair of Ovation Rhona Country Boots.

A total of 20 entries showed in Thursday’s hunter derby, jumping a beautiful course designed by J. P. Godard, of Aiken, SC. The course spanned two rings and featured stunning natural obstacles. The picturesque backdrop of Vermont mountains helped set the tone for a great afternoon of competition.

Mark Bluman and G&C Blue Gallop to Victory in $10,000 Welcome Stake

East Dorset, Vermont – Colombia’s Mark Bluman and G&C Blue, owned by Gustavo Mirabal, were the winners in the $10,000 Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Welcome Stake, presented by Manchester Designer Outlets, on Thursday, August 9, at the 2012 Vermont Summer Festival.  The six-week Vermont Summer Festival is running at Harold Beebe Farm in East Dorset, VT, from July 4 through August 12.

Eric Hasbrouck is the course designer in the grand prix ring for the sixth week of jumper action in Vermont. In Thursday’s $10,000 Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Welcome Stake, Hasbrouck saw seven out of 30 entries jump the first round course without fault. Three went double clear in the jump-off, and it was 21-year-old Mark Bluman and G&C Blue who had the fastest time of 31.21 seconds for the win.

Wednesday’s $5,000 Open Jumper 1.40m winners, Tracy Magness and M/M John Bartko’s Tarco Van Ter Moude, finished second. Magness, of Hughesville, MD, blazed through the short course in 33.27 seconds as the seventh entry to go with Tarco. Their time held the lead for most of the class, but was surpassed by Bluman 19 rounds later.

East Dorset, Vermont – Week six of the 2012 Vermont Summer Festival kicked off on Wednesday, August 8, with its Vermont Summer Celebration Horse Show at Harold Beebe Farm in East Dorset, VT. The $5,000 Open Jumper 1.40m was the highlight class of the day with a win for Tracy Magness, of Hughesville, MD, riding Tarco Van Ter Moude. The Vermont Summer Festival runs July 4 through August 12.

Eric Hasbrouck is the course designer in the grand prix ring this week. In Wednesday’s $5,000 Open Jumper 1.40m, Hasbrouck saw 13 out of 21 entries navigate the first round course without fault. Seven entries went double clear in the jump-off, and Tracy Magness and Tarco Van Ter Moude, owned by M/M John Bartko, had the fastest time of 36.48 seconds for the win.

Second place honors went to Ireland’s Paul O’Shea and Wizz, owned by O’Shea and Daniel Walsh, with a clear jump-off round in 38.16 seconds.  Charlotte Jacobs, of East Aurora, NY, grabbed the third and fourth place prizes with her mounts Promised Land and Kachina. Riding Promised Land, owned by Candy Tribble and Windsor Show Stables, Jacobs stopped the clock in 38.40 seconds to finish third. With Kachina, owned by Deeridge Farms, Jacobs finished in 40.30 seconds to place fourth. Catherine Tyree, of Barrington Hills, IL, jumped double clear with Wetter in a time of 42.07 seconds to place fifth. Ireland’s Darragh Kenny rode North Star’s Umberto and Cyrina Z to double clear rounds as well, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
