Kierstin Antoniadis Wins Tricolor Ribbon in USHJA Pony Hunter Derby East Coast Championship

Lexington, Ky. – Aug. 4, 2019 – Ponies took over the Rolex Stadium on the final day of the Kentucky Summer Class with the prestigious USHJA Pony Hunter Derby East Coast Championship. A total of 98 horse-and-rider combinations navigated the course that featured a collection of obstacles simulating those reminiscent of the hunt field such as brush, logs, and gates. After impressing the panel of four judges in both the Classic Hunter style course and the Handy Hunter course by earning a total score of 175, Kierstin Antoniadis and Pokerface rode away with the championship tricolor ribbon. Vivian Golden received the reserve championship honors on Renaud Farm LLC’s Hidden Springs Waltz with a total of 168.87 points.

Madison Kondracki and Magic Beans Make Magic to Win Pony Jumper Championship

Jumper action closed out the final day of the Kentucky Summer Classic with the presentation of the Pony Jumper championship in the Walnut Ring. Madison Kondracki dominated all three classes of the division on her pony, Magic Beans, to win the tricolor ribbon, while Hannah Haines guided her mount A Lotta Moxie to the reserve championship.

Brian Moggre and MTM Flutterby Blaze to Win $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix

Lexington, Ky. – Aug. 3, 2019 – On a picturesque summer evening at the Kentucky Horse Park, 28 horse-and-rider combinations attempted to maneuver the course designed by Bobby Murphy for the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix. A myriad of fences came down in the first round for the majority of the athletes with only six pairs advancing to the jump-off. It was a race of speed in the 8-effort jump-off with riders thundering across the Rolex Stadium trying to overtake their competitors to the cheers of the crowd. At the end, Brian Moggre swiftly navigated the course on Major Wager LLC’s MTM Flutterby to add another grand prix win to his resume. Moggre beat Jimmy Torano’s impressive time of 44.857 seconds by the skin of his teeth, breaking the timers in only 44.727 seconds, only a mere .13 seconds to spare. Torano finished the class in second place on Glasgow De Muze, while Ireland’s Darragh Kerins placed third on Carlos JD Z.

Jennifer Waxman and Dominic Gibbs Dominate $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby

The $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, sponsored by World Equestrian Center/Kentucky Horse Shows LLC, was the feature class in the Stonelea Ring Saturday at the Kentucky Summer Classic. Sixty-nine hunters took center stage to compete for the title that were broken down into two sections, Pro and Non-Pro. In the Pro section, Jennifer Waxman rode Elm Rock LLC’s Codex 22 to the win followed by Jeff Gogul and Robert Stables LLC’s Snowbird in second, while Dominic Gibbs rode Erin Gibbs’ Perseus YC to first place in the Non-Pro section with Savannah Sugar on her own Boccaccio coming in second.

Lexington, Ky. – Aug. 2, 2019 – The final class on Friday in the Rolex Stadium during the Kentucky Summer Classic, the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, saw a field of nine horse-and-rider combinations vie for the blue ribbon. As the only double-clear performance over Bobby Murphy’s 1.35-40m course, Ellie Ferrigno topped the leaderboard on Discovery-O, breaking through the timers in 42.904 seconds. Mallory Vale on Elusive and Lindsey Strafuss on Calmaro 12 finished in second and third place, respectively.

Kat Fuqua and Cupido Z Earn Grand Junior Hunter Title

Junior Hunters closed out the Stonelea Ring Friday at the Kentucky Summer Classic with the presentation of the Grand Junior Hunter Championship presented by Visse Wedell. The top honor was presented to the pair that accumulated the most points over two days of competition in either the 3’3″ or 3’6″ sections of the Junior Hunter division. This week, it was Kat Fuqua and Cupido Z that reigned supreme.

O’Brien and Vale Ride Away with Jumper Wins in Classic Champions Developing Jumper Tours

Lexington, Ky. – July 31, 2019 – The Classic Champions Developing Jumper Tour kicked off its fifth show of the eight-part tour Wednesday at the Kentucky Summer Classic with a talented collection of up-and-coming young horses tackling the 5, 6 and 7-year-old divisions. While Aaron Vale and Gray’s Inn topped the leaderboard in the 5-year-old class held in the Walnut Ring, the Rolex Stadium saw David O’Brien emerging victorious with the fastest double-clear round in the 7-Year-Old Jumpers. The 6-Year-Old division followed, where Vale topped the leaderboard once again, this time competing three horses in the class before riding away with a one-two finish with Vander Esch and Carina, respectively.

Gogul and Torano Tie for Grand Hunter Champion

Professional hunters wrapped up Wednesday. The Grand Hunter Championship, presented by Visse Wedell, is awarded to the competitors with the most points accumulated in the Green 3’6″ Hunter, Green 3’9″ Hunter, Green Conformation Hunter, High Performance Conformation Hunter, and the High Performance Working Hunter divisions. Similar to last week, there was a tie for Grand Hunter Championship title. Jeff Gogul with Roberts Stables LLC’s Maverick alongside Jimmy Torano aboard Amethyst Equestrian Consulting LLC’s California both earned 44 points in their respective divisions to tie for the prestigious prize.

Lexington, Ky. – July 30, 2019 – On the opening day of the Kentucky Summer Classic, the feature show jumping classes, the 1.35m Open Jumpers and the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumpers, took place in the Rolex Stadium with courses designed by Bobby Murphy. With a field of 13 competitors in the 1.35m Open Jumpers, it was Robert Mendoza who rode away with the fastest double clear performance aboard Java Van De Kleinheide. In the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumpers, Aaron Vale saved the best for last, winning the class on Cashew CR.

Fibonacci Finishes First in Green Hunter Incentive Stake

Tuesday kicked off with the professional hunter divisions. In the spotlight was the Green 3’6″/3’9″ Hunter Incentive Stake. Chris Payne and Fibonacci came away in the top position, while Kelley Farmer and Consent took the second place ribbon. Payne rounded out the top three with Bond.

Siena Vasan Wins $10,000 Under 25 Classic at Kentucky Summer Horse Show

Lexington, Ky. – July 28, 2019 – The Kentucky Summer Horse Show closed out in the Rolex Stadium with a variety of show jumping classes, including the $10,000 Under 25 Classic and the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumpers. The technical 15-effort course was designed by Marina Azevedo and athletes incurred both time and jumping faults during the day’s competition. Only one horse-and-rider combination, Siena Vasan and Tokyo D’Ellipse, successfully completed the course clear from any faults, which solidified her top placing. Riley Mackillop ended the class in second place, while Samantha Rice earned a third place ribbon.

Salt Creek and Havens Schatt Secure First $5,000 USHJA Hunter Derby Win

Sunday concluded with the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby sponsored by World Equestrian Center/Kentucky Horse Shows LLC. Havens Schatt held the lead from round one into the handy round to clinch the title aboard Salt Creek with 185 points. Jennifer Waxman and Codex 22 settled for second place with 183 points while Dominic Gibbs and Perseus YC claimed third place with 181 points.

Sharn Wordley Saves Best for Last to Sweep $50,000 Rood & Riddle Grand Prix

Lexington, Ky. – July 27, 2019 – The feature event of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Grand Prix, was held Saturday evening in the Rolex Stadium with an enthusiastic crowd excited to cheer on the field of competitors during the Kentucky Horse Park’s annual Hats Off Day. Designed by Brazil’s Marina Azeveo, the 16-effort 1.50m course asked many difficult questions including a triple combination and a triple-bar. Following a competitive eight-horse jump-off, it was New Zealand’s Sharn Wordley and Arnoud Dobber’s Any who returned to the ring to race to the top spot. Jimmy Torano and Glasgow De Muze came in a close second while Celso Ariani took third place aboard Ukulman De La Nutria.

Mazzoli and Rossi Tie for Grand Amateur-Owner Hunter Champion

Saturday at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show began with the naming of the Grand Amateur-Owner Hunter Champion presented by Visse Widdel in the Stonelea Ring. Following suit from the professional hunter divisions earlier in the week, two horse-and-rider combinations tied for the Grand Amateur-Owner Hunter Champion title. Anna Rossi on Cakebread and Vanessa Mazzoli on Oh Brother both earned a total of 42 points from the Amateur-Owner 3’3″ division to earn the coveted grand champion tricolor ribbon.

Uxanna Tops $5,000 1.40m Open Jumpers with Jimmy Torano

Lexington, Ky. – July 26, 2019 – The Kentucky Summer Horse Show opened Friday morning competition in the Rolex Stadium with the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumpers, where 14 horse-and-rider combinations contested the 14-effort track designed by Marina Azevedo. As a power and speed class, the contenders jumped the first seven jumps clear before moving onto the second speed phase. While riders raced to beat the clock, none could catch Jimmy Torano who rode the quickest clean round for the top spot on Uxanna, while Lorcan Gallagher on Colada and Pablo Barrios on Fursina VDM placed second and third, respectively.

Sophia Mitchell Rides to THIS National Medal Win

Equitation was on display Friday morning at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show at the Kentucky Horse Park starting with the THIS National Children’s Medal in the Claiborne Ring. Seventeen horse and rider combinations tackled the 3′ course, and it was Sophia Mitchell aboard her horse Callahan that rode away with the win after a four-horse test consisting of a roll-backs, trot fence, a halt and two changes of lead in front of the judge. Mitchell kept her lead from the first round after a stellar test earn the top prize.

Salvador Onate Races to Win $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic

Lexington, Ky. – July 25, 2019 – As the sun set on the Rolex Stadium, spectators were treated to an entertaining evening of competition with 29 entries battling it out in the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic. The 1.50m course designed by Brazil’s Marina Azevedo proved to be tricky for many horse-and-rider combinations, consisting of a total of 15 obstacles in the first round. A myriad of jumps came down around the course and with a time-allowed of 84 seconds, only nine pairs moved onto the jump-off. Ultimately, it was Salvador Onate and Big Red who flew to the fastest clean round to capture Thursday’s feature victory, while Shane Sweetnam finished in second place and Lacey Gilbertson rounded out the top three.

Goguen, Payne, and Farmer Tie for Grand Hunter Champion

The professional hunter divisions came to a close Thursday during the Kentucky Horse Show. It was a day of blues as three horse and rider combination swept their classes, winning every over fences class in their respective divisions, garnering a three-way tie for Grand Hunter Championship, presented by Visse Wedell. In the Green 3’6″ Hunter division, Gossi, owned by Garland Alban and ridden by Tim Goguen, won every class to earn the championship ribbon. In the Green 3’9″ Hunter division, Chris Payne and Fibonacci, owned by Still Water Farm LLC, dominated their division for the championship. To round out the three-way tie, Kelley Farmer piloted David Glefke’s Witness to five straight wins and the championship. All three combinations earned a total of 50 points.

David Beisel Wins $5,000 1.40m Open Jumpers to Kick Off Kentucky Summer Horse Show

Lexington, Ky. – July 24, 2019 – The opening day of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show kicked off Wednesday in the Rolex Stadium with David Beisel winning the day’s highlight event, the $5,000 1.40m Open Jumper. Saving the best for last, Beisel rode his 10-year-old KWPN gelding, Essince W, to the top of the leaderboard with the only double-clear performance of the class. Venezuela’s Pablo Barrios finished the class in second place aboard Gut Einhaus LLC’s Le Vio, while Rachel Kennedy rounded out the top three on Fandango.

Kentucky Summer Horse Show Features Classic Champions Developing Jumper Tours for 5, 6, and 7-Year-Old Horses

New this year to the Kentucky Horse Park, the Classic Champions Developing Jumper Tour kicked off its fourth show of the eight-part tour Wednesday at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show with three divisions offered for 5, 6, and 7-year-old horses. A talented collection of up-and-coming young horses tackled the 5-year-old and 6-year-old divisions in the Walnut Ring on Wednesday, while Grace Long and Andrew Kocher’s Happiness VD Hazel HOF emerged with the fastest clear round in the 7-Year-Old Jumpers set in the Rolex Stadium. Long tripped the timers in 36.521 seconds, and Aaron Vale was hot on her tail, finishing second in the class on Thinks Like A Horse’s Prescott in 37.319 seconds. Ridden by Jennifer Waxman, Spy Coast Farm LLC’s Maui SCF finished the jump-off in third place in 39.494 seconds.

Witness Takes Wednesday’s Green Hunter Incentive Stake

Green Hunters took center stage in the Stonelea Ring on the first day of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show held July 24-29. Champion hunter rider Kelley Farmer walked away with the win in the prestigious Green Hunter Incentive Stake 3’6″/3’9″ aboard Witness, owned by David Glefke, to kick off the week’s hunter action.
