Lisa Goldman and Morocco sail over a jump on course in the $65,000 EMO Grand Prix

The Classic Company saw record entries for its opening week of the Atlanta Fall Classic Show at the International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia, selling out all stabling as the wait list for stabling grew.

Lisa Goldman of Red Coat Farm not only excelled in much of the jumper competition during opening week, but also claimed title to the coveted $65,000 EMO Grand Prix, riding her own Morocco, posting double clear rounds and winning with a jump off time of 37.452 seconds.  In second place, Schuyler Riley in the irons aboard Michael Meller’s Waterloo finished with a jump off time of 39.590 seconds.  Goldman was back to claim the third place ribbon with Centurion B, owned by Mary Goldman.  Emily Short, riding her own Grand Finale 3E, finished in fourth place. Sarah Scheiring riding Wec Quidam Quidam, owned by William Upton, placed fifth. Patty Stovel rode her own Carigor Z to finish in sixth. Jack Hardin Towell rode his own Nolde to a seventh place finish. Thaisa Irwin rode her own Matilda to an eighth place ribbon. Bryn Sadler rode Bon Giorno, owned by Showcase 81 LLC, to ninth place honors. Taloubet, owned by Paulo Fihlo Santana, finished in tenth. Schuyler Riley rode Andretti, owned by Southbeach Stables, to finish in 11th.  David Beisel rounded out the top twelve riding Equine Holdings LLC’s Amaretto to the twelfth placing.

Goldman just graduated from college and was restricted from showing in the bigger money classes because of her riding on her school’s equestrian team.  Well, the restrictions have been lifted and she is wasting no time in collecting the larger purses.

“It was my first time under the lights and my horses’ first time too, and I didn’t know how they would go — but they were great!  So, that was really exciting,” said Goldman.  “It was a challenging course, a long course, an endurance and stamina course,” she added.  “It was our first time at the Classic Atlanta show and our first time at the International Horse Park.  It was really exciting and so much fun!  While we are back home in Chicago, we loved Atlanta and our horses just loved it!  We can’t wait to go back!”

Second place finisher Schuyler Riley said, “This is a great show to introduce my young horses to Grand Prix competition.  And Bob makes the footing the best it can be.”

“There’s no doubt that the increased prize money in the hunter and jumper divisions as well as the overall facility has contributed to the increased entries we experienced this year.  Those elements plus consistent positive experiences by our competitors make this a great show.  We plan on continuing to offer bigger purses and expanding our offerings at all Classic shows this year and as usual, we’d like to know what we can do to make our customers’ experience even better,” said President of Classic Company, Bob Bell.

Camera Ready, ridden by Leigh Cofer Smith, won both the meter 1.15 and the 1.10 Barry Lane Jumper Classics

David Jennings, trainer and owner of Full Circle Farm in Nashville, Tennessee, had a very successful week and included a win on Muny Sunk Stable’s Elize Van De Broekkant in the Training Jumpers and a second place finish on Emily Reiney’s Nandy Fontaine.  “We love the rings, the permanent stalls with mats and the class offerings,” he continued, “and the prize money for the Children’s Adult Jumpers is the best around — I can count on one hand what other shows offer prize money that big — we love that!”  And the Barry Lane Jumper Classic proved that statement to be true!  There were over 55 entries in that class during Week I and Camera Ready, owned by Fit to Print Farm and ridden by Leigh Cofer Smith, won both the Barry Lane Jumper Classics 1.15m and 1.10m.

And although Classic Company treats everyone like a VIP, the new extended VIP service was a sold out success and was met with rave reviews.  Make sure to reserve your table this week at the show office.

Week Two kicks off tomorrow and looks to be the exclamation point of this already monumental show.  Both the prize money and the prestigious honors will be awarded this week when the Adequan Pre-Green Hunter purse estimated to be $15,000 goes up for grabs on Friday morning during the Adequan Pre-Green Hunter Championships.  Friday evening the sun will set on the junior riders as they compete in the first round of the Junior Classic Equitation Championship Finals in the covered arena.  Saturday’s second round will crown the Junior Equitation Classic Champion and the afternoon will see top Grand Prix riders competing for the $45,000 EMO Grand Prix.

The recognition of the Classic Champions will wrap up the week and close out the Classic Company’s 2012 season.

But it’s not too late to enjoy the last Classic Show of the year.  There is always something for everyone at Classic Company shows and the Classic Atlanta Fall Shows are no exception.  So make sure to bring everyone to the International Horse Park this this week for Classic Company’s world class customer service, beautifully decorated rings, big prize money, great events and fun for all!
