Lexington, KY – Three national titles were claimed at the USEF National One-Star Eventing Championships held over the weekend at the Hagyard Midsouth Three-Day Event & Team Challenge at the Kentucky Horse Park. Selena Pape (Louisville, KY) had a stellar weekend leading the field from start to finish claiming not only the USEF National One-Star Championship but also the USEF National Amateur One-Star Championship title. With her seven-year-old Holsteiner mare Vanity, Pape finished on a score of 46.2, going double clear on Derek di Grazia’s cross country course and adding four faults for knocking down the A element of the triple on Nori Scheffel’s stadium course.

“It feels good,” Pape said with a smile when asked about her winning weekend. “I feel like I made a silly mistake [at the triple] but she warmed up well and jumped her tail off. I wanted to do this [the CCI1*] one more time for her to grow up.”

The USEF National 19-to-21-Year-Old One-Star Championship went to Elizabeth McGinley of Taylorsville, KY. She piloted Vicki Baumgardner’s eight-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Song for the Kaiser to double clear rounds in both the cross country and stadium phases to finish on their dressage score of 67.8.
