USEF Announces Eventing Competition Grants for European Competition

Lexington, KY – The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and United States Equestrian Team Foundation (USET) are pleased to announce eventing competition grants for European competition in the fall of 2014.

Jacqueline B. Mars Competition and Training Grants

The USET Foundation is pleased to announce that the Jacqueline B. Mars Competition and Training Grants have been awarded to Lillian Heard and Kurt Martin, eventing riders who have been identified and recommended by the USEF Eventing Selectors, with impressive records and potential to represent the United States in future international competition. Heard (Hamilton, Va.) will compete her own 2002 Thoroughbred Cross gelding Share Option at the Les Etoiles De Pau CCI4*. Martin (Middleburg, VA) will compete his own 2006 Holsteiner mare at the Military Boekelo CCIO3*.

The United States Equestrian Team Foundation (www.uset.org) is the non-profit organization that supports the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite and developing international, high-performance horses and athletes in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation.

USEF Land Rover Competition Grants

The USEF has awarded USEF Land Rover Competition Grants to the following horse-and-rider combinations. Grant recipients will compete at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4*, Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials CCI3*, Military Boekelo CCIO3*and the Les Etoiles De Pau CCI4*.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4*

The following horse-and-rider combinations have been awarded Land Rover Competition Grants to compete at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4*, September 4-7, 2014 in Stamford, England.

Buck Davidson (Ocala, Fla.) and Carl and Cassandra Segal’s Park Trader
Park Trader is a 2002 Irish Thoroughbred gelding.

Phillip Dutton (West Grove, Pa.) and Bruce Duchossois’ Mighty Nice
Mighty Nice is a 2004 Irish Sport Horse gelding.

Meghan O’Donoghue (Carbondale, Ill.) and her own Pirate
Pirate is a 2002 Thoroughbred gelding.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4* or Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials CCI3*

The following horse-and-rider combinations have been awarded Land Rover Competition Grants to compete at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4*, September 4-7, 2014 in Stamford, England or the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials CCI3*, September 11-14, 2014 in Woodstock, England.

Jan Byyny (Purcellville, Va.) and her own and Dick and Jo Bynny’s Inmidair
Inmidair is a 1999 New Zealand Thoroughbred gelding.

Hannah Sue Burnett (The Plains, Va.) and Jacqueline Mars’ Harbour Pilot
Harbour Pilot is a 2003 Irish Sport Horse gelding.

Lauren Kieffer (Middleburg, Va.) and Team Rebecca, LLC’s Veronica
Veronica is a 2002 Dutch Warmblood mare.

Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials CCI3*

The following horse-and-rider combinations have been awarded Land Rover Competition Grants to compete at the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials CCI3*, September 11-14, 2014 in Woodstock, England.

Phillip Dutton (West Grove, Pa.) and Tom Tierney and Simon Roosevelt’s Fernhill Cubalawn
Fernhill Cubalawn is a 2003 Holsteiner gelding.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4* or Les Etoiles De Pau CCI4*

The following horse-and-rider combinations have been awarded Land Rover Competition Grants to compete at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials CCI4*, September 4-7, 2014 in Stamford, England or the Les Etoiles De Pau CCI4*, October 22-26, 2014 in Pau, France.

Marilyn Little (Frederick, Md.) and Raylyn Farms and Team Demeter’s RF Demeter
RF Demeter is a 2002 Oldenburg mare.

Military Boekelo CCIO3*

The following horse-and-rider combinations have been awarded Land Rover Competition Grants to compete at the Military Boekelo CCIO3*, October 9-12, 2014 in Boekelo, The Netherlands.

Kurt Martin (Middleburg, Va.) and his own Anna Bella
Anna Bella is a 2006 Holsteiner mare.

MacKenna Shea (Tacoma, WA) and her own Landioso
Landioso is 2002 Bavarian Warmblood gelding.

Sharon White (Summit Point, W.V.) and Mary Ann Ghadban’s Under Suspection
Under Suspection is a 2004 Holsteiner mare.

Les Etoiles De Pau CCI4*

The following horse-and-rider combinations have been awarded Land Rover Competition Grants to compete at the Les Etoiles De Pau CCI4*, October 22-26, 2014 in Pau, France.

Lillian Heard (Hamilton, Va.) and her own Share Option
Share Option is a 2002 Thoroughbred Cross gelding.

Clark Montgomery (Wiltshire, UK) and Jessica Montgomery, Kathryn Kraft, and Holly and William Becker’s Loughan Glen
Loughan Glen is a 2003 Irish Sport Horse gelding.

Doug Payne (Apex, N.C.) and Larry and Amelia Ross’ and his own Crown Talisman
Crown Talisman is a 2003 Holsteiner/Thoroughbred gelding.

Additionally, as per the USEF Selection Procedures for Eventing Travelling Reserves will be named prior to the Definite Entry Date to the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games from the previously named alternates.
