Gijon, Spain – For the second time in two days the U.S. romped to victory in Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup competition, on Friday the setting was CSIO5* Hickstead and on Saturday the American success came on the turf field at CSIO5* Gijon. Chef d’Equipe DiAnn Langer brought a team of rising stars to Gijon’s Nations and Ashlee Bond-Clarke, Catherine Pasmore, Quentin Judge, and Georgina Bloomberg delivered with strong performances throughout the day over Avelino Rodríguez Miravalles’ demanding track to finish on a two round total of eight faults after finishing the first round on four faults.

“They were so fantastic; they all came together so well,” said Langer of her team. “This really shows the depth of all our riders. The course was very big and quite light and they were great. I want to thank them all; they were fantastic.”

Leading off for the U.S., which had drawn fifth in the first round order, was Bond-Clarke (Hidden Hills, Calif.) and Little Valley Farms’ Chela LS jumping a four-fault round. The 10-year-old La Silla mare came back in the second round producing an immaculate clear to continue the U.S. momentum from round one.

Pasmore (Wellington, Fla.) was next up for the United States with the talented Bonanza Van Paemel jumping a fault-free effort in round one, adding a valuable zero to the score sheet. In round two, the pair looked to add their names to the double clear list but a rail late in the course for Pasmore Stable, LLC’s 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding meant they finished on a score of four faults.

Jumping in the third spot for the U.S. was Judge (Wellington, Fla.) and Double H Farm’s 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion Copin Van De Broy. In both rounds the pair produced consistent efforts, with two four-fault trips.

Bloomberg (New York, N.Y.) anchored the U.S. team on Saturday with two outstanding and immaculate performances on Gotham Enterprizes LLC’s Juvina. The 13-year-old Warmblood mare was one of only two to produce double clears, leading the U.S. to victory in Gijon.

Switzerland finished second in CSIO5* Gijon’s Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup on a total of 13 faults, with Great Britain taking third place honors on 15 faults.
