Kentucky Summer Horse Shows Prize List Now Available

Lexington, KY – May 21, 2011 – The Kentucky Summer Horse Shows’ management company, Kentucky Horse Shows LLC, is pleased to announce that the hunter/jumper competition’s prize list is currently available online. The prize list and entry blanks are posted online at www.kentuckyhorseshows.com. Entries for the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows close on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 and Wednesday, July 27, 2011 for the Bluegrass Festival and the KHJA Horse Show.

The top hunter and jumper riders will return to the Kentucky Horse Park for this world-class event. The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will kick off the series and will be held from July 27-31, 2011. This event will run concurrently with the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. As the competition continues, the Kentucky Summer Classic will get underway on August 3, 2011, and run through August 7, 2011.

The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will feature two exciting highlight events, including the $40,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by Audi of Lexington, to be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011. The best jumper riders in the world will gather to compete for the title, and will also have the chance to compete during the $30,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic. This class will be the third event in the Hagyard Challenge Series. The rider who accumulates the most points throughout the seven-class series will be presented with the $45,000 Leading Rider Award.

The Kentucky Summer Classic is a World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) recognized hunter competition. An additional highlight during the Kentucky Summer Classic will be the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, August 6, 2011, in the Rolex Stadium.

Following the Kentucky Summer Classic will be the 2011 USEF Pony Finals, held from August 9-14, 2011. The top ponies from across the nation will gather at the Kentucky Horse Park to compete for championship honors in their respective divisions. The event has grown so much that a sixth day was added to the competition last year. The Green Pony Hunters will compete on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Regular Pony Hunters will compete from Tuesday through Saturday. The Pony Jumpers will once again show Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings, while the Pony Equitation Final will take place on Sunday.

The Bluegrass Festival Horse Show will be held August 17-21, 2011. This event will showcase the top hunters by hosting the 2011 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals, on August 19 & 20 in the Rolex Stadium. This exciting competition will once again offer $100,000 in prize money to the top 75 horses that qualify.

The final event of the summer series will be the Kentucky Hunter Jumper Association (KHJA) Horse Show, to be held August 24-28, 2011. The featured classes will include the $30,000 KHJA Grand Prix, the $10,000 Hagyard Welcome Stake, and the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Classic, all to be held in the Alltech Arena.

The Kentucky Summer Horse Shows will be hosted at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park because it attracts the nations best competitors, it offers wonderful competition venues, excellent stabling, plenty of exercise rings and spacious places to ride, miles of trails, and lush cross country fields. The Kentucky Horse Park’s world-class facility was the site of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

The Kentucky Horse Show LLC’s 2011 series includes seven weeks of top competition throughout the spring and summer. These premier hunter/jumper competitions feature a USEF 5* Jumper Rating and a “AA” Hunter rating. Ring Dimensions/Specs:
The Stonelea Ring, Murphy Ring, Walnut Ring, Stonelea/Murphy Schooling Ring, the Alltech Arena and the Rolex Stadium have Otto Sport footing consisting of fine sand and synthetic fibre on pvc mats. The Claiborne, Annex, and Covered Arena (old) rings’ footing consists of a sand cushion on limestone base. The dimensions of the competition areas are as follows:

Reservations may not be made through the Horse Show office. To reserve a campsite at the Kentucky Horse Park for any of the horse shows, please call the Campground store at (800) 370-6416 or email Christy Combs at ccombs@kyhorsepark.com. Be specific as to the show name and the dates you wish to stay. Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. and checkout is 12:00 noon. You must make arrangements with the Campground store if you plan to come earlier than 2:00 p.m. or stay later than 12:00 noon. Vehicles will be towed that are not removed from a campsite by checkout time.
