US Reining Team to Wear Adequan Brand at 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

Lexington, Ky. – The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) announced today that Luitpold Animal Health, the manufacturers of Adequan® i.m. (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan), will be the title sponsor of the 2014 U.S. Reining Team, set to compete at this year’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG), August 23 through September 7, in Normandy, France. Luitpold Animal Health will also provide Adequan® i.m. for all eight disciplines and the horses competing for the U.S. Team in the 2014 WEG.

“The United States Equestrian Federation is honored that Luitpold Animal Health has chosen to sponsor the 2014 Adequan® U.S. Reining Team and supply product for the entire U.S. Team,” said USEF CEO Chris Welton. “Adequan® i.m. has a long track record of safety and strong efficacy in the treatment of equine joints. We could not think of a better partner than Luitpold Animal Health and look forward to and appreciate their continued support of the USEF.”

The partnership marks the third consecutive FEI World Equestrian Games that Adequan® will be the title sponsor of the U.S. Reining Team. The 2014 Adequan® U.S. Reining Team will look for a repeat showing of the 2010 Team’s spectacular performance at the WEG, when it won the Team Gold medal. The 2010 Adequan® U.S. Reining Team of Tim McQuay, Criag Schmersal, Tom McCutcheon, and Shawn Flarida all gave electric rides to take the U.S. to a large winning margin.

“We have been very fortunate to have had the 2006 Aachen U.S. Reining Team and the 2010 Lexington, Ky., U.S. Reining Team wear the Adequan® brand,” states Allyn Mann, Director of Global Sales at Luitpold Animal Health. “Both teams won the Gold Medal, as well as Individual Silver and Bronze medals in Aachen and Individual Gold and Silver medals in Lexington.”

The 2014 Adequan® U.S. Reining Squad includes Shawn Flarida, Andrea Fappani, Tom Heikes, Jordan Larson, Mandy McCutcheon, and Tom McCutcheon. The Team veterinarian, Dr. John Newcomb, and the Chef d’Equipe, Jeff Petska, have been involved with the U.S. Reining Teams competing at the FEI World Equestrian Games since reining was introduced as a WEG discipline at the Games in 2002 in Spain.

Adequan® i.m. is designed to help treat the underlying cause of the problem and break the cycle of damage, while reducing pain and inflammation. There is only one FDA approved source of this active ingredient, polysulfated glycosaminoglycan and it is available as Adequan® i.m.

Remember, there is no generic Adequan® i.m.
