About Sydney Collier: Sydney Collier of Ann Arbor, Michigan, will represent Grade Ib for the USA at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. This will be her first World Equestrian Games. Collier will be riding Victoria Dugan’s Willi Wesley, a 2000 Warmblood gelding. At age seven Sydney was diagnosed with Wyburn-Mason Syndrome after she began having blurry vision. Wyburn-Mason Syndrome is a rare, congenital disorder characterized by arteriovenous malformations in the central nervous system and retina. It affects only .14% of the world’s population and can cause brain hemorrhaging, stroke, paralysis, or death. In 2010 at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY, Sydney and her family ran across young para-equestrian Jonathan Wentz. Wentz introduced Collier to trainer Kai Handt and veteran Paralympian Hope Hand who is President of the United States Para-Equestrian Association. Not long after the 2010 World Equestrian Games Collier began training as a Para-Dressage rider eventually pairing up with Paralympic Dressage coach Wes Dunham of Millbrook, NY. In 2012, young rider Collier had not yet reached her 16th birthday before the 2012 Paralympic Selection Trials but she did earn the opportunity to compete at the 2012 USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championships. The valuable experience of showing at the National Championships that year gave her the verification she needed to know that she was ready to aim for the 2014 WEG. Collier and her coach Wes Dunham have been working together over the past two years creating the perfect partnerships with multiple mounts. Collier began riding Wentworth (owned previously by Amy McIlwham) in 2013 and competed internationally with her horse that same year. In 2014 Collier added two new mounts to her line-up scoring top rankings in Grade Ib. This will be Collier’s first overseas trip for Para-Dressage and a dream come true for the young athlete.

About Amy McIlwham:  McIlwham began riding at the age of 7, at a stable close to her house in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. In 2000, she began training with Ruth Koch out of Oxford Ridge Stables in Kemptville, Ontario. Ruth generously loaned McIlwham her Grand Prix horse Favorit, and she successfully competed him at the FEI Junior level for several years.

Not long after, McIlwham was offered the ride on Marzipan, a Hanoverian stallion owned by one of Ruth’s clients. She competed him for 5 years taking him to Dressage at Devon at the FEI Junior level in 2004, and to the NAJYRC twice at the FEI Young Rider level in 2005 and 2006. “I was so lucky to have such generous people around me, and such wonderful horses to teach me so much through my Junior and Young Rider years,” said McIlwham.

After graduating from the Young Rider ranks, she purchased Wentworth, a 4 year old Hanoverian gelding, from Germany. The pair worked alongside Ruth and her other coach, Albrecht Heidemann, to develop Wentworth through the levels. He competed through second level with scores consistently in the high 60s-70s, before becoming a new partner for Sydney in the Fall of 2012.

McIlwham has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs and Policy Management and a Master’s degree in Conflict and International Security. Currently, she works full time for the Canadian government as an Analyst for Aviation Security, and she still rides as often as she can.

Rider Spotlight with Marsha Cullen

About Marsha Cullen: Cullen grew up in Missouri where she began riding at age 5. Cullen rode all types of horses and ponies and made her way into the western discipline before tackling dressage. During her early teen years she began to have a lot of pain in her wrists, hands, feet, ankles, and knees. The joints would swell, get red and stiffen. She suffered from fatigue and had to take frequent naps to make it through the day. In 1977, her mother took her to Dr. Browning in Joplin, Missouri where she was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 16. Over the next four years Cullen lost range of motion and often suffered from painful, swollen joints forcing her to give up participation in track and volleyball. Missouri High School Rodeo became the only sport she could participate in after her diagnoses. Also in her teen years Cullen noticed brown patches of skin that became shiny and thick on her abdomen, arms and legs. In 1987 she was diagnosed with scleroderma, a connective tissue disease in the same family of diseases as rheumatoid arthritis.

Cullen moved from Missouri to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1980 after marrying her now husband. The two started a family and Cullen went on to graduate college at the University of Tulsa. During her second summer at college, she joined the Green Country Chapter of Oklahoma Dressage Society. While volunteering at the Green Country Dressage Classic she met Lynn Seidemann. Lynn, a two-time Paralympian, was wheeling around in a wheelchair and riding in the competition. “Being a disabled person myself, I was very curious how Lynn was able to do this,” noted Cullen. “I didn’t think it would ever be possible for me to compete at a recognized show. So I introduced myself and she invited me to a para-equestrian clinic at Flower Mounds Texas the following February. There I met Jonathan Wentz and Wendy Fryke.”

In 2010, Cullen drove from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lexington, Kentucky during the World Equestrian Games by herself reclassified. Because of her lack of flexibility in her neck and upper back, plus other stiffness in her lower body and loss of range of motion in her joints, she is currently a Grade II para-dressage rider.

In 2014, Marsha Cullen earned qualifying scores for the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championship held June 2-5, in Gladstone, NJ. Cullen competed with her own Latte. Cullen was also awarded The 2014 Sportsmanship Trophy. The Sportsmanship Trophy is a Perpetual Trophy awarded to a Para-Dressage Athlete competing at the National Championship who best personifies the high standards and virtues of integrity, sportsmanship, honor, courage, team spirit, good temper and unselfishness.

About Sara Ike and the USET Foundation: Sara Ike, a New Jersey native, started working for the United States Equestrian Federation in 2003 and served as Team Leader in 2004 at the Vaulting World Championships in Austria. In March 2007, she became the High Performance Director of Eventing and was later promoted to Managing Director of Eventing. Ike has served as the U.S. Eventing Team Leader at the 2008 & 2012 Olympic Games, 2007 & 2011 Pan American Games, and the 2010 World Equestrian Games.

Ike joined the United States Equestrian Team Foundation (USET Foundation) in January 2014 as the Major Gifts Officer. Her primary role is to focus on fund raising for the non-Olympic disciplines. Ike’s experience gives her the critical knowledge of the importance of each dollar raised for High Performance teams.

The USET Foundation (www.uset.org) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s developing and high performance horses and athletes in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). The USET Foundation annually gives USEF a multi-million dollar grant to distribute to the High Performance programs. About The Jonathan Wentz Memorial Challenge for High Performance Para Dressage

Recently the USET Foundation announced the Jonathan Wentz Memorial Challenge for High Performance Para Dressage which was made possible through the generosity of Margaret H. Duprey and The Barnfield Foundation. The Challenge is to raise $800,000. Mrs. Duprey and the Barnfield Foundation have each pledged up to $200,000. They will each match, dollar for dollar, every gift commitment of $4,000 and above made by April 1, 2015.

With a successful Challenge, the funds will provide a solid base of funding and allow a comprehensive program to be established that will have a long term positive effect on our competitive excellence at Paralympic Games and World Equestrian Games.

A large percentage goes to shipping horses overseas, but also training, clinics, coaching and competition grants.

The Challenge offers an incredible opportunity for those who share a passion and interest in increasing support for these most inspiring and deserving athletes, and their quest to represent this country in international competition.

About Wes Dunham: Born and raised in Western New York, FEI rider and trainer Wes Dunham began his life-long love of horses at the age of 6. He competed in Western Pleasure classes before turning his attention to Eventing, Show Jumping and ultimately Dressage which he currently coaches and trains.

While completing his Master’s in Education, Wes dedicated himself full-time to a career in the sport. Wes has been awarded his USDF Bronze and Silver medals, and is currently working towards his Gold. Most recently, he coached an FEI para-equestrian athlete and student on his own mare “Western Rose,” helping the pair to earn a spot on the U.S. Paralympic Team competing at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. Wes is now working with Para-Dressage athletes Sydney Collier and Elizabeth Traband as they prepare for the 2014 Para-Dressage Selection Trails for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. Wes trains in Millbrook, New York, at Woodstock Stables.

About Kai Handt: Handt is the U.S. Para-Equestrian Dressage Chef d’Equipe/Technical Advisor. Handt’s appointment will run through 2016 making him the United States Para-Dressage Team Chef d’Equipe/Technical Advisor for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France and the 2016 Paralympics. Handt has been a rider, trainer, and coach for nearly 40 years. Since relocating to the United States from Germany in 1985, Handt has built a large training program at his own North Texas Equestrian Center in Wylie, Texas. Handt not only trains multiple young riders in dressage but he also has earned his USDF bronze, silver, and gold medals as well as his silver and gold freestyle bars. Over the past six years, Handt has worked within the Para-Dressage world where he trained and sponsored the late Paralympian Jonathan Wentz. Handt helped Wentz ride to his full potential and reach his goals which included representing the U.S. Para-Dressage Team at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, winning the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championship in 2011, and becoming the highest individual ranking U.S. rider that competed in London at the Paralympics. Handt will work closely with all current and potential para-dressage athletes preparing each rider and their horses for international competition. Kai Handt is an advocate for the para-dressage discipline and enjoys encouraging other sponsors, riders, and trainers to get involved with the sport. The ultimate goal of each high-performance discipline is to win medals. Kai Handt is excited for his future with the para-dressage program and looks forward to a medal winning 2014.

Horse Radio Network Features Dressage/Para-Dressage Trainers Heather Blitz and Jim Koford

Wellington, FL – March 29, 2014 – Horse Radio Network’s once-a-month Para-Equestrian Show featured dressage and para-dressage trainer Heather Blitz and Jim Koford. Each trainer talked about their experience working with an international high-performance para-dressage athlete. They spoke of the parallel comparison between able-bodied dressage and para-dressage. Both had their athletes on the show including Angela Peavy (USA), a grade III, rider who trains with Blitz and 2010 World Equestrian Games athlete Mary Jordan (USA), Grade IV, who trains with Jim Koford. About Heather Blitz:

Heather Blitz of Wellington, FL is the 2012 U.S. Olympic Dressage Team reserve rider and 2011 Pan American Games Team Gold Medalist and Individual Silver Medalist. Blitz’s love for horses started in Kansas where she grew up on her parents’ farm. Blitz began competing in dressage competitions in 1994 and has won numerous regional and national titles on an array of horses. Her career-changing horse came in the form of Danish Warmblood stallion Rambo DVE 373, whom she began training as a 12-year-old. The pair showed at the CDI Grand Prix level throughout Florida and at the prestigious Dressage at Devon where they placed third. Blitz is currently working with Paragon, an 18-hand Danish Warmblood bred by Oak Hill Ranch.

–Blitz and Paragon claimed the Reserve Championship in the USEF National Intermediaire I Dressage Championships at the 2011 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions.

–Blitz and Paragon finished second in both the Grand Prix CDI3* and the Grand Prix Special at the World Dressage Masters Palm Beach CDI4* presented by International Polo Club Palm Beach.

–WEF Dressage Classic: Blitz and Paragon won the Grand Prix Freestyle and finished third in the Grand Prix Test.

–The 2012 year also saw Blitz and Paragon in Gladstone, New Jersey for the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions and Selection Trials for the U.S. Dressage Team in June. After four rounds of competition over two weekends, Blitz finished sixth overall with a combined total of 70.384%.

James has been immersed in the dressage community for the last 35 years. He was catapulted into the FEI dressage ring aboard the Pinto Dutch Warmblood stallion, Art Deco. James started showing Art Deco as a 4-year-old and advanced him to Grand Prix. This popular duo became one of the most recognizable FEI combinations on the East Coast.

As a competitor, James enjoys tremendous success on a wide variety of horses. He has competed in the Grand Prix on six different mounts and has guided over twenty horses to the FEI levels. James’s horses have won numerous regional and national awards from Training Level to Grand Prix. Some of his most successful horses include the stallions Donatelli II winning at Grand Prix with scores to 72% (2007) and Don Principe winning thirteen straight PSG and I1 classes in 2008.

James distinguishes himself as one of the very few riders in the world to compete at both Four Star eventing and Grand Prix dressage. James trained and competed the horses Bank On It and Max Motoring at Essex**, Bromont**, Fair Hill*** and Rolex****. James continues his commitment to the eventing community as a highly sought after dressage coach, for eventing riders at the national and international levels.

In 2009, Koford had success with a number of horses. Aboard Don Principe, Koford took home top honors in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the WEF Dressage Classic, the Grand Prix Test at the KDA Spring Warm-Up Show, and the Grand Prix Test and Freestyle at the KDA 23rd Annual Dressage Show. Koford, aboard Rhett, was awarded the Anne Barlow Ramsay grant from The Dressage Foundation to travel to Germany to train and compete. Koford and Rhett trained with Michael Klimke in Germany and competed in the small tour at national shows in Germany.

2010 led Rhett and Koford back to Germany where they successfully competed in Open Grand Prix classes at national shows. The pair also competed in the Medien Cup classes for young Grand Prix horses. The same year they secured two wins at the USDF Region 1 Dressage Championships.
Koford and Rhett made their debut at the CDI Grand Prix level in 2011. In Wellington, they capped off a great season with a win in the International Horse Sport Champions Cup Grand Prix. They had another win that year in the Grand Prix Test at Dressage at Devon. In addition, they finished out the year with two more Grand Prix wins at the USDF Region 1 Dressage Championships. Also in 2011, Koford also won two Grand Prix classes at Dressage at Lexington aboard Pharaoh.

2012 began with a win aboard Pharaoh in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Wellington Dressage show. Koford finished second with Rhett in the Grand Prix Special at the Wellington Dressage show as well. Koford and Pharaoh finished second at the Florida Dressage Classic with an exceptional freestyle performance. In June of 2012, Koford and Rhett were selected to compete in the 2012 USEF Dressage Festival of Champions and Selection Trials for the U.S. Dressage Team. They finished 12th with an overall score of 67.858%. Rhett and Koford continued their success in 2013 with a second place finish the Grand Prix Special at the World Dressage Masters.

Susan is on the Board of Trustees of the US Driving for the Disabled and is on the PATH Driving subcommittee.

About Rosalind Kinstler: Kinstler was originally from New York City but relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan. During the winter dressage show season she makes her home in Wellington, Florida.

She has been a dressage rider and instructor for over thirty years and has been heavily involved as trainer and coach in the para-dressage discipline.

Kinstler has her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals in addition to numerous Regional Championships. Her coaching has included multiple Gold medal riders.

Kinstler also gives back to the dressage community as the USDF Youth Program’s Committee Chair, Region 2 FEI Jr/YR Coordinator and she has been involved with the NAYRC since 1997.

In 2012 Kinstler coached Grade II Paralympic dressage rider Dale Dedrick to the London Paralympics. Kinstler also works with Grade III para-dressage athlete Ellie Brimmer.

About Susan Guinan: Guinan is the Director of Development at Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center in Loxahatchee, FL.

Susan grew up in Bucks County, Pa. and South Florida. She attended Rutgers University studying Agricultural Business and Marketing.  Susan worked for Merrill Lynch in NYC and London. She lived in the UK for 18 years raising her two boys. Her career in finance and marketing continued in London building loyalty and affinity programs for European and Australian banks and utilities from offices in London, Paris and Sydney.

Susan returned to Florida full time in 2004, and now combines her passion for horses and business at Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center. Susan, a lifelong horsewoman, joined the staff of Vinceremos in September of 2009. No stranger to Vinceremos, Susan has been a part of the auction committee since returning to Florida.  Susan’s role includes developing donors, sponsorship and fundraising for the center.

She started driving horse and carriage in the 1980s while living in Far Hills, New Jersey.  During her time in England her passion for driving continued, including Driving for the Disabled, an affiliate of the Riding for the Disabled. She holds a Level 2 driving certification from the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship and founded the driving program at Vinceremos.  Susan continues to drive competitively and accompanies her driving students to competitions too.

About Thomas Baur: Thomas Baur is an international horse show organizer from Germany. For the 2014 season he joined the Equestrian Sport Productions team as Dressage Show Organizer for the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. Baur was brought to Wellington to provide the current world-class equestrian facility staff his expertise on international Dressage and Para-Dressage shows. Baur is a member on the FEI Dressage Committee and is a member of the board of the International Equestrian Organizer’s Alliance. The list of high-profile Dressage and Para-Dressage shows Baur has been a part of include Vienna Masters; Internationales Maimarkt-Turnier in Mannheim, Germany; and Pappas Amadeus Horse Indoors in Austria. About Bridget Kroger: Bridget Kroger is a LTC US Army (Retired) veteran and Wounded Warrior. Bridget is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, a 24-year veteran of the United States Army, she completed two tours in Iraq, and is and a life-long equestrian. Kroger grew up on a small farm in Kentucky where her father was a horse trader. Kroger enlisted in the Army right out of high school and was asked to apply to West Point Prep. She entered West Point in 1992, graduated in 1996 as a Human Factors Engineer, and retired as a LTC with 24 years of service on May 31, 2013. Kroger started the Wounded Warrior’s Equestrian Program (WWEP) to give more job options to horses, to connect warriors with the equestrian sport, and provide a therapeutic means to all military veterans. The Wounded Warrior Equestrian Program is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving Veterans and Horses a new lease on life. The WWEP support’s Therapeutic Riding Facilities and Horse Rescue farms across the United States, providing rehabilitative services to Wounded Veterans of all Services. About Clive Milkins:

Clive Milkins is a leading para-equestrian dressage coach from Great Britain. He began work with the RDA (Riding for the Disabled) in the late 1980s after volunteering at Moreton Hall Group while at Warwickshire College. Clive was the trainer for the British team at the 1990 World Championship and Games for disabled riders. He has since coached riders competing at Paralympic Games (Athens and Beijing), European Championships and World Championships. Clive coached triple gold medal winning rider, Sophie Christansen, at the 2012 Paralympics. Clive has been nominated for numerous awards since his career began: Groom of the year, 2005; The Queen’s Award for Equestrianism, awarded for ‘Outstanding Services to Equestrianism’; and the Kuster BEF Groom of the Year in 2006. Brad is the President of HorsePower, Inc., a US-based western horse sport event production firm based in Denver, CO. Ettleman’s past includes the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Reining Discipline Director and the Reining Discipline Manager for the North American Junior & Young Rider Championships since the sport was introduced to the championships in 2008. Thousand Oaks, CA – August 28, 2013 – Horse Radio Network’s once-a-month Para-Equestrian Show featured FEI Veterinarian Dr. Mike Tomlinson and International Trainer Kai Handt Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Lindsay McCall from the USPEA co-hosted the show with Para-Equestrian Ellie Brimmer. Dr. Tomlinson informed the audience about what to expect before and during the trot-up, what each rider needs to know before they enter an international competition, and he even gave listeners an idea of what an FEI Veterinarian’s job is like from outside the arena. Trainer Kai Handt spoke about his experience training Para-Dressage riders, how to seek out support and sponsorship, and he expressed how crucial the correct horse and rider combination can be. Dr. Mike Tomlinson DVM MBA:

Tomlinson has been an active equestrian since childhood. Every day of his life is greatly influenced by his horses and the horse world. He has been an FEI Official since 1985 and currently is an active FEI Judge (‘O’), FEI Veterinarian (5*), FEI Technical Delegate, and FEI Chief Steward, participating in over 25 FEI events each year on nearly every continent. He is on the Board of Directors of many national, regional and local equestrian organizations and many for-profit corporations and partnerships. Dr. Tomlinson has been the FEI Veterinarian at many International Para-Dressage competitions and he can be found throughout the year traveling to multiple FEI events around the world. When he is not on the road he is at his home in California.

Kai Handt:

Kai Handt is the owner and head trainer at North Texas Equestrian Center (NTEC). He has been competing and training horses for nearly forty years. A native of Kassel, Germany, Handt’s early training was based on the traditional German system, a systematic and disciplined approach to horse training. He received a rigorous and diverse education in the disciplines of dressage, show jumping and three day eventing while working with such well known masters as Hermann Schridde, Eugen Wahler, and Richard Krause. An avid competitor throughout his adolescent and teen years, Handt was awarded his German bronze, silver, and gold medals before reaching the age of 18. After earning his Bereiter, FN license in 1981, he apprenticed at Nord Hessisches Lands Leistungszentrum fuer den Reitsport under Richard Krause. Handt then spent five years employed at Prestiges Verein fuer Reitsport which was, at the time, one of Germany’s most respected training facilities. Soon after relocating to the United States in 1985, Handt purchased NTEC. Over the last twenty years, he has built North Texas Equestrian Center into a well-respected boarding and training center and has become a leading importer of quality warmbloods for the equestrian disciplines.  Handt continues to be active in the show ring, although his competitive pursuits in recent years have been increasingly focused on dressage. Earning his USDF bronze, silver, and gold medals as well as his silver and gold freestyle bars, Handt competes and trains horses at all levels and is the winner of numerous regional championships titles each year. His students are always top contenders for regional championship titles from training level through FEI. He has had USDF/Dover National Merit Award winners in the adult amateur division and currently has junior and young rider students who have competed at the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, the USEF National Dressage Championships and the USEF Dressage Seat Equitation Medal Finals. Handt was also the sponsor and trainer of Paralympic Equestrian Jonathan Wentz. Wentz competed as a U.S. Team member at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, was the 2011 U.S. Para Equestrian National Champion and was the highest individual ranking U.S. Dressage Rider that competed in London at the Paralympics. Handt continues to work with many Para Dressage athletes helping them to reach their maximum potential.

Once a month the Dressage Radio Show becomes the Para-Equestrian Show Hosted by Lindsay McCall, of the United States Para-Equestrian Association, focusing on international FEI discipline Para-Dressage. Although Para-Dressage is the main event, listeners have the opportunity to learn more about the skillful U.S. Para-Driving Team, the Para-Reining discipline, Para-Vaulting, and the future of Para-Jumping. The para-equestrian dressage show will feature a line-up of guests including Olympians, Paralympians, trainers, coaches, professionals, amateur riders, young riders, and equine enthusiasts. Thousand Oaks, CA – June 27, 2013 – Horse Radio Network’s once-a-month Para-Equestrian Show featured both Para-Dressage and Para-Driving on Thursday, June 27. Lindsay McCall from the USPEA co-hosted the show with Para-Equestrian Driver Diane Kastama. Evin Rattner, who helped run the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Selection Trials and has worked multiple Para-Dressage shows, spoke with Kastama and McCall about his experiences with Para-Dressage and what we may expect in the future.  Internationally known driver Keady Cadwell visited the show to talk about the 2012 Para-Equestrian Driving World Championships. Cadwell was the Chef d’Equipe for the U.S. Team and has been working with the Para-Drivers since 1998. Co-Host Diane Kastama of Arroyo Grande, CA:  In 1991 a car crash left Kastama paralyzed from the waist down. Although a lifelong horse person and dressage enthusiast, riding without the use of her legs was not much fun and she soon turned to driven dressage and then the exciting sport of combined driving. Her relatives and friends thought she was crazy for taking on a sport that involves sitting atop a tall carriage, pulled by a horse going “hell-bent” for speed.

Kastama, Grade I, started competing with her home bred Appaloosas but now Diane competes with a pair of Section D Welsh Cobs, Rupert and George. She drives them single, pair and tandem. She competes against able-bodied drivers all over the Western United States and occasionally on the East Coast at the Intermediate and Advanced level. Kastama has also demonstrated her skills at Rolex, KY, Horse Expo in Sacramento, the “Night of the Horse” in Del Mar, and the Equine Affair and various therapeutic horse programs throughout California. She has also participated in the closing ceremonies at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. Kastama is always willing to share her skills and knowledge and bring driving to the forefront of equine sports.  Diane has been very successful in international Para-Equestrian competition, coming home with an Individual Silver and Team Bronze driving a borrowed Welsh Cob Stallion in 2002 Greven, Germany.  In 2004 she place 5th with a borrowed Welsh cob in Edinburg, Scotland.  In 2006 she came home with Individual Gold driving her own Welsh cob gelding Jasper.  In 2008 Kastama and Jasper earned Individual Bronze and Team Silver.

When she is isn’t competing or driving, Kastama is very involved with the United States Driving for the Disabled (USDFD) organization which helps to foster and grow the sport of Para-Driving. Guest Evin Rattner: Evin Rattner is the Strategic Officer for DevonWood Equestrian Centre in Sherwood, Oregon. He’s responsible for the company’s technical development, including network operations and show services. Evin is also co-director of DevonWood Competition Services, the show management and scoring service that is a product of the facility’s premium show services group that started in 2000. To date, Evin has served as secretary for the USEF Paralympic Selection Trials & National Championships at the 2012 Festival of Champions in Gladstone, New Jersey, as well as a long-running involvement with popular CDI 3*s, The Dressage Affaire and the Del Mar Classic in San Diego. Today, Evin joins us from Portland, Oregon where is he currently preparing DevonWood for its 14th annual running of the popular Dressage at DevonWood show. Keady Cadwell
Keady Cadwell

Guest Keady Cadwell of Southern Pines, North Carolina started her riding career as an eventer, and began driving competitively in 1990. Cadwell has represented the U.S. at three World Championships in the pairs; she was part of the U.S. teams in 1993 and 2007. In 2007, she also competed at Windsor (England), Riesenbeck (Germany) and Beekbergen (The Netherlands). At Riesenbeck, Cadwell had a tremendous dressage test, where they placed third out of 50 pairs in dressage.

Cadwell and her pairs team had a remarkable year in 2008, taking home wins at the Sunshine State CAI, Live Oak CAI, Southern Pines and the Kentucky Horse Park CDE.

In 2009, Cadwell took home the blue ribbon at the Sunshine State CAI in February, and placed second at the Live Oak CAI in March.

Since 1998, Cadwell has been involved with the U.S. Para-Equestrian Driving Team. She has participated primarily as a coach or chef d’equipe at nearly every World Championship for Para-Driving in the last 10 years. On April 25, 2013 the Dressage Radio Show, featuring regular hosts Reese Koffler-Stanfield and Philip Parks, handed the reins over to United States Para-Equestrian Association’s Lindsay McCall and para-dressage rider Susan Treabess. Gil Merrick, who was the former USEF High Performance Dressage Director, and the U.S. Dressage Team Leader, talked to Treabess and McCall about the importance of team-building. He reviewed why our industry needs a pipeline and how symposiums like the 2013 U.S. Para-Equestrian Dressage Symposium May 29 – June 1 will help to grow the discipline. He also mentioned how HorseShow.com is changing logistic issues for riders everywhere.

McCall and Treabess wrapped up the radio show with industry news topics including first radio show guest, Derrick Perkins, earning his qualifying score for the 2013 Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championships aboard NTEC Richter Scale.
