Notice of Intent to Seek USEF Recognized Affiliate Status

Lexington, KY – The term Recognized Affiliate Association is reserved for one organization acknowledged by the United States Equestrian Federation to represent an International Discipline or the National Breed or Discipline that has a body of rules which has been approved by the USEF Board of Directors for inclusion in the Federation Rule Book. The Federation recognizes only one breed or discipline association for each of these sets of rules. The term International Discipline Association (also referred to as FEI Affiliate) applies to the respective designated representative associations for each of the eight FEI disciplines. Recognized National Affiliate Association (also referred to as Recognized National Affiliate) describes an organization representing a national breed or discipline.

Currently, there are eight Recognized International Discipline Associations, one for each International (FEI) discipline competed in the U.S. There are 12 Recognized National Affiliate Associations representing 19 different national breeds and disciplines. The Federation has been petitioned for the addition of another National Discipline, namely Western Dressage. Two organizations have submitted applications to serve as the Recognized National Affiliate Association to represent Western Dressage.

Commencing on May 10, 2013, a 30-day notice period begins. Any comments regarding either or both of the petitioning associations may be submitted to this address: westerndressageapplications@usef.org, prior to June 11, 2013. Any competitive bids from any organization contesting for recognition for the discipline of Western Dressage must submit an application prior to June 11, 2013 to Karen Adams at kcadams@usef.org.
