Jacksonville Convention and Visitors Bureau Welcomes Southeast Medal Finals

Jacksonville, FL – August 23, 2013 – The Jacksonville Convention Center and Visitor’s Bureau is pleased to welcome and sponsor the prestigious Southeast Medal Finals back to the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, September 19-22, 2013. This year’s USEF “A”-rated horse show is again hosting the ASPCA Maclay Regionals, the Phelps Media Group Southeast Junior Medal Finals, the Southeast Adult Medal Finals, the $25,000 Land Rover Jacksonville Grand Prix and more.

Following last year’s inaugural show, the event was met with rave reviews from several of the nation’s top riders and trainers. The Jacksonville Equestrian Center provided, and continues to provide, a premier equestrian facility for the competition.

“Jacksonville is excited and honored to once again host the Southeast Medal Finals in our beautiful and state-of-the-art Jacksonville Equestrian Center,” said Paul Astleford, CEO and President of Visit Jacksonville and the Beaches. “This premier equestrian facility is the perfect place for the South East Medal Finals 2013, welcoming some of the best athletes in the region and we, as a destination, are thrilled to get the chance to showcase the best of our vibrant and eclectic ‘River City by the Sea.'”

The Jacksonville Equestrian Center features a large indoor coliseum with 3,000 seats, two outdoor rings, top of the line footing, 500 permanent stalls and a network of adjacent trails, available to explore and enjoy for a casual hack during horse show down time. When not at the horse show, trainers, riders and their families can enjoy all that Jacksonville has to offer.

“Jacksonville is a natural water wonderland with so many fun family attractions, beautiful beaches, extensive parks, historic neighborhoods, great dining and unique sites; we truly hope all the competitors – and their families – get a chance to explore it all and come back for more,” said Astleford.

The Jacksonville Equestrian Center is centrally located for USHJA Zone 4 and Region 3 competitors, and it also attracts a wonderful fan base from the surrounding area.

“Jacksonville is a great equestrian destination, not just because the Jacksonville Equestrian Center is one of the best of its kind, but because the local fan base makes every event an exciting one for competitors. We truly cannot wait for the Southeast Medal Finals 2013,” said Robin Wright, National Sports Account Executive for Visit Jacksonville, a key Jacksonville liaison for organizers of this event.

Wright continued: “We are thrilled to once again to partner with organizers to bring this event to Jacksonville and see it become one of the top events for riders and their trainers in the nation. We look forward to many more years of partnership!”
