Ocala, NY (December 10, 2014) — Chester Weber is “someone to be applauded,” says Sue Mosley, Chairman of the Friends of the Christmas Parade. The equestrian community can certainly agree, as Weber’s long list of achievements include being ranked number one in Four-in-Hand Driving in the FEI World Standings and winning an Individual Silver Medal at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Due to Weber’s successes and his continuous efforts to give back to his community, the Ocala, Florida driving champion has been chosen to be the 2014 Parade Marshall of the celebrated Ocala Christmas Parade.

The Ocala Christmas Parade is made possible by the Friends of the Christmas Parade, a non-profit organization that prepares all year for the popular annual event. Chairman Sue Mosley explains, “This is the largest nighttime Christmas parade in the state of Florida. We always have in excess of 60,000 viewers on the parade route. It is televised live, then rebroadcasted for thirty days throughout Christmas and New Year’s.” The colossal event will take place on East Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala, Florida, on December 13, 2014. This year will mark the fifty-seventh annual parade.

The esteemed position of Parade Marshall is held by a person whom Ocala feels has done an outstanding job of representing the town and giving back to the community. “The criterion to be Parade Marshall is somebody who is generous within themselves and gives within the community, but also has an outstanding career history, as well. A community benefactor,” Mosley states. “The Friends of the Christmas Parade would like to recognize Chester for what he does and as much as he donates back to Marion County. He fits the criteria perfectly.”

Chester Weber has a history of supporting his community — both locally and in the global equestrian community — that is just as long as his history in the driving spotlight. Recently, Weber has been a mentor to rising driving star Jacob Arnold through his inaugural Live Oak Driver Apprentice Program, served as Chef d’Equipe for the U.S. Team at the 2014 FEI World Driving Championships for Singles, and acted as Selector for United States Driving for the Disabled for the 2014 FEI Para-Equestrian Driving World Championships. Committees that Weber serves on include the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) High Performance Driving Committee, the National Driving Committee, the Safety Committee, the Hearing Committee, the Licensed Officials Committee, the Driving Technical Committee, and the United States Equestrian Team Foundation (USET) Board of Trustees.

Chester Weber feels honored to be chosen as the 2014 Parade Marshall of the Ocala Christmas Parade, and looks forward to ringing in the holidays with his town.
