“He is in great shape. You could not tell that he is 18-years-old,” said Hyslop of her German-bred mount that was imported to the US in 2006. “We trained a lot at home and 90% of what I wanted to achieve today came together. I am very happy with my ride.”
The atmosphere at the GDF National Show was much different than at the $50,000 Florida Dressage Classic CDI-W, presented by USPRE, which was held February 16-19 at the Global Dressage Festival. Hyslop found it appealing.
“This is a super venue for Adult Amateurs,” said Hyslop. ‘It is peaceful and quiet during the national shows, but still presents itself with the international big show flair.”
Natalia Martin also had a memorable day at the GDF competing in her first Grand Prix with Utha Van De Begijnhoeve, a Belgian Warmblood, owned by Kara Dickey. “It is great here. I love the footing, and the show barns,” said Martin of her GDF experience. “Utha tried very hard today. She’s a good girl, but definitely has her own opinion.”
National Horse Show competition continues through Thursday, February 23. For more information on the GDF National Horse Show 1, please call visit the website at www.globaldressagefestival.com under the link for dressage show information on the main homepage or call 561-793-5867.
About the Global Dressage Festival
The Global Dressage Festival (GDF) is one of the world’s largest international and national dressage circuits featuring five CDIs, including a 5*, the first non-championship CDIO Nations’ Cup in the Western Hemisphere, and nine U.S. national events.
The GDF is offering more than $275,000 in prize money for the five international competitions making it one of the richest circuits in the world. In addition to the CDIs with national competitions, the GDF will feature four separate national shows to be held at the newly constructed venue that extends the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) show grounds.
The GDF encompasses almost 60 acres of the former Palm Beach Polo Grounds. The facility includes four outdoor arenas with world class footing. Future planned improvements include a covered arena, permanent covered spectator seating for the central outdoor arena and a permanent Patrons Club and 200 permanent stalls.
