Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu and All In Sparkle with Win in the FEI Grand Prix CDI5*

Wellington, FL – February 7, 2019 – Week 5 of the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) started on Thursday, February 7, with CDI5* dressage competition at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida.

Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu (CAN) and All In won the FEI Grand Prix CDI5, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors, to qualify for the five-star freestyle on Friday night. The pair earned a score of 71.304%.

Adrienne Lyle and Salvino Continue the Start of Their 2019 Season with Win in the 5* Special Qualifier

In the FEI Grand Prix CDI5*, the qualifier for the 5* Special presented by the Palm Beach Equine Clinic, Adrienne Lyle (USA) and Salvino won with a score 74.565%.

“I’m really pleased with Salvino, for going in for the second time he doesn’t seem to have lost any of his spark so far this season,” Lyle said of her WEG team silver medal-winning partner, a 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Sandro Hit owned by Betsy Juliano LLC. “I’m really proud of the way he’s training and schooling. There’s still a lot of little things in the ring that I as a rider need to figure out how to polish to get the scores up to where I know he’s capable of, but this is just the start of our season.”

Betsy Steiner and Swiss W Win the Blue in Prix St Georges at AGDF Week 3

Wellington, Florida (February 4, 2019) – Week 3 of the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) brought more spectacular performances, tough competition and some of the best dressage found anywhere in the world. Triple Crown Nutrition is excited to continue to recognize the top, high performance riders who have gathered in Wellington, FL for this world class international dressage show series. Coming in first in the CDI 1 Prix St Georges was Betsy Steiner, aboard her lovely mare, Swiss W, who is owned by Whitney Bailey. This outstanding blue-ribbon performance not only earned the pair a score of 71.681, they were also presented with the Triple Crown Excellence Award. This prestigious prize is given to a horse and rider team that demonstrates exemplary achievement within the equestrian community, as well as showing exceptionally good health and fitness.

“She is the most amazing horse,” said Steiner. “She’s all mare and all princess! She is very, very particular, but very correct. She makes me a better thoughtful, thinking rider because she wants me to really take good care of her, and when I do that, she delivers 200%. She is extraordinary!”

Steiner goes on to explain how she felt during their winning ride. “It was amazing because she was just so ‘on’ and so focused. It was sort of like time slowed down and I could really think about riding into absolutely every corner, setting her up. She waited for me, was beautiful in my hands, was forward on my leg – I couldn’t ask her for anything more.”  This was the first time Swiss rode the CDI in the Global Stadium. “She was so ready to work and so ready to listen,” Steiner describes. “She was just in a great place!”

Steiner is based at White Fences in Loxahatchee, Florida during the six-month winter show season, and spends the other six months at her farm in the middle of horse country in Pittstown, New Jersey.

Tina Irwin and Laurencio Conclude AGDF Week 3 with Win in I-1 Freestyle

Wellington, FL – January 26, 2019 – Competition for the third week of the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) in Wellington, FL continued on Saturday, January 26, with a win for Tina Irwin (CAN) and Laurencio in the FEI Intermediate I Freestyle CDI3*, presented by Horseware Ireland.

Irwin and Laurencio, her 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding by Laurentio, earned a score of 75.900%. “He has a temperament of 10, a 10 out of 10. This horse is phenomenal. I’ve had since he was four years old and trained him up from the beginning to the grand prix level,” said Irwin about her partner Laurencio. “I can really put him in any atmosphere and he’s the same; he’s as steady as they come. I feel very lucky.

“The highlight was the harmony. It was really fluid, and Laurencio was very rideable and everything just flowed,” added Irwin about her test. “I held back a bit on my first centerline. I usually enter in two tempis and I didn’t do that this time. I could up my degree of difficulty a little bit; I could always push for more expression and for more energy for sure.”

Irwin and Laurencio began competing in CDI competition at AGDF in 2016. “There are so many things I love about coming here,” she said. “[I love] the weather first of all, I love the community, I love the atmosphere, I like the people, and it’s just a really phenomenal place to be. If you want to be competitive, you have to come to Florida. This is where the best come in North America.”

In the FEI Intermediate I CDI1*, presented by Discover Dressage, Lindsay Kellock (CAN) and Floratina, a 11-year-old Hanoverian mare by Fidertantz owned by Chloe Gasiorowski, won with a score of 71.471%.

Laura Graves and Verdades Capture Another Win in “Friday Night Stars” Grand Prix Freestyle

Wellington, FL – January 25, 2019 – U.S. dressage stars and currently ranked number two in the world, Laura Graves (USA) and Verdades performed a beautiful test and earned a score of 84.935% to win the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W, presented by the U.S. P.R.E. Association on Friday, January 25, at the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) in Wellington, FL.

“This freestyle was nice. This was the second time I’ve ridden to this music. I’m definitely feeling a little more comfortable with it,” commented Graves, who has captured medals at the Olympic Games and World Equestrian Games with Verdades, her 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Florett AS. “I’m glad to add another good score to qualifying [for the World Cup Finals]. In a normal year we’d be qualified by now, but we have one more show to do so we’ll be back at the end of February, I believe, to hopefully qualify.”

Kasey Perry-Glass (USA) and Goerklintgaards Dublet, a 16-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding by Diamond Hit owned by Diane Perry, came in second with a score of 82.425%.

“The weather was great for Dublet. He loves the cold weather,” said Perry-Glass of her 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon (WEG) team silver medal-winning partner. “It really gets him a little bit more amped. I’m just very proud of him for this show, to come out and score a personal best in [yesterday’s] grand prix out of WEG. Unfortunately, I had a little bit of a spook coming in [the freestyle], so that kind of put me a little behind my music. I felt a little rushed throughout my choreography, but he nailed everything.”

Shelly Francis and Danilo (USA), a 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding by De Niro x Annabella owned by Patricia Stempel, earned a score of 80.535% and came in third place in the freestyle.

“I just feel like my horse is really kind of liking this freestyle,” commented Francis about Danilo. “He kind of gets a little pumped up tonight with the cooler weather. It was good. He felt really fun and awesome though; he was just trying to do everything. The piaffe and passage and pirouettes are always getting better, and he’s always been pretty good about the changes. He’s kind of coming into himself.”

Judge at C, Michael Osinski, pointed out – and it was confirmed – that for the first time in a dressage competition in the U.S., the top three earned above 80%. Osinski commented, “It just was an honor to watch all three of you, such elegant, harmonious, beautiful riders. It was just great, and I wish them all the best.”

AGDF Director of Sport Thomas Baur also pointed out that Adrienne Lyle (USA) and Tinne Vilhelmson Silfven (SWE) placed fourth and fifth with top scores above and near 79%.

“I think that we did not have many qualifiers in the Western European league this year or last year, that were that strong,” he noted. “I think we have come a long way here, and it’s pretty amazing.”

Kasey Perry-Glass and Goerklintgaards Dublet Kick Off AGDF Week 3 with Grand Prix Win

Wellington, FL – January 24, 2019 – The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) kicked off its third week of competition on Thursday, January 24, with a win for Kasey Perry-Glass (USA) and Goerklintgaards Dublet in the FEI Grand Prix CDI-W, presented by the U.S. P.R.E. Association.

Perry-Glass (USA) earned a score of 77.913% in the FEI Grand Prix CDI-W, presented by the U.S. P.R.E. Association. She rode Goerklintgaards Dublet, a 16-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding by Diamond Hit x La Costa owned by Diane Perry.

“I’m not surprised because I know that this horse has a lot of potential, but coming out for your first show you always want to do well and start where you left off last year,” Perry-Glass said about her win on Thursday. “I felt like that test was better than I’ve ever felt him. The rideability was there, and his mental game was there. It just showed that he’s ready for this year.”

“I just kind of had a few little lightbulb moments with our riding. Even after being on an Olympic team and a WEG team, you still have those moments,” commented Perry-Glass on her ride. “We’re just going to keep continuing to grow and get the scores up, even by 0.5%, and just keep chasing the higher scores.”

Perry-Glass said of her relationship with Goerklintgaards Dublet, “I’m very close to him. He’s my baby. I’m around him all day. His care, I look after the smallest little things with him, and sometimes my vet gets annoyed and he’s like, ‘Kasey, he’s fine.’ But you know, the earlier you catch things, the earlier you can fix it. I take his care very seriously.”

Perry-Glass’s FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018 teammate Laura Graves (USA) and Verdades, her 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Florett AS, came in second with a score of 77.087%. Fellow 2018 teammate Adrienne Lyle (USA) and Salvino rounded out the top three with a score of 74.717%.

Earlier in the day Brittany Fraser (CAN) and All In, her 14-year-old KWPN gelding by Tango, earned a score of 72.761% to win the FEI Grand Prix CDI3*, presented by Adequan®.

Katherine Bateson Chandler (USA) and Alcazar, a 14-year-old KWPN gelding by Cantango and owned by Jane Forbes Clark, came in second with a score of 70.957%. Jill Irving (CAN) and Arthur, her 14-year-old KWPN gelding by Jazz, finished third with a score of 69.738%.

Betsy Steiner (USA) started the day off with a win in the FEI Prix St Georges CDI1*, presented by Discover Dressage. Steiner and Swiss W, a 12-year-old Wurttemberg mare owned by H. Whitney Bailey, earned a score of 71.618%.

Jennifer Baumert (USA) and Handsome, a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Hochadel owned by Elizabeth Juliano, won the FEI Prix St Georges CDI3*, presented by Horseware Ireland with a score of 72.647%.

Rebecca Hart and El Corona Texel Win FEI Para Freestyle Grade III-CPEDI 3* at AGDF

Wellington, FL – January 20, 2019 – Week 2 of the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), presented by Adequan®, Mission Control, Nutrena, and Fair Sky Farm, concluded on Sunday, January 20, with a win for Rebecca Hart (USA) and El Corona Texel in the FEI Para Freestyle Grade III – CPEDI 3*.

Hart and El Corona Texel, a 10-year-old KWPN gelding by Wynton and owned by Rowan O’Riley, earned a score of 75.278% in the Grade III Freestyle. Grade III is for riders who have severe impairments in both lower limbs with minimal or no impairment of the trunk or moderate impairments of the upper and lower limbs and trunk. Some riders in Grade III may use a wheelchair.

Hart is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Wellington, FL. “I have loved this horse from the moment I saw his video on YouTube. I love his personality and his intelligence,” said Hart about El Corona Texel. “He’s quite a fiery horse, but he’s an incredibly kind horse. I love how we can have a true conversation when we’re riding, and it just makes it a very unique, special partnership.

“Marlene Whittaker put the freestyle together for me, and we worked really hard on that one,” continued Hart of her freestyle music and choreography. “It’s actually the one that we rode at [the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games], so it’s a special freestyle for us. We actually all played [the music] for him so he could have a little bit of input. He would just be like, ‘Oh yeah’ and he’d start to get a little more exuberant, and we were like, ‘Okay, Tex likes this one!’”

Hart has been coming to AGDF for seven years and said, “I love having such a great facility for the 12 weeks. They have shows on the weekend, and we can just come and do a test and then go home. Having that availability, and in addition having the big three-stars and the four-star and the freestyles under the lights, that variety of atmosphere so that you can do a smaller national show or you can do a big three-star all within your backyard, is fantastic.”

Kate Shoemaker (USA) and Solitaer 40 won the FEI Para Freestyle Grade IV – CPEDI 3* with a score of 75.458%. Grade IV is for riders who are impaired in one or two limbs or have some visual impairment.

Shoemaker travels back and forth between her home in Phoenix, AZ, where she is an equine veterinarian, and Wellington to train. “He’s my heart horse, so just every day having the opportunity to ride him and to have that partnership is special. He’s a horse that when I got him I was told that I was never going to be able to ride him and that he would never be successful in Para,” said Shoemaker about Solitaer 40. “So to come this far with him – we’re now starting our fifth season together – I feel like it’s all about the partnership. He gives me so much that it’s just unbelievable.

“His elasticity is definitely his strength, and it was something that the judges noted this weekend that they really appreciated in him. Now we’re really starting to bring together a little bit more power and more balance in the arena, which is what’s been the big change,” added Shoemaker about her 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Sandro Hit. “As much improvement as he’s had, he still gives me those moments where there’s the next step up that we’re working on. It’s really an exciting journey that we are on right now.”

Shoemaker said of her choreography, “Last summer I got together with Tom Hunt, and asked him if he would be willing to do a freestyle for me. I was ecstatic when he said yes. He actually custom composed the music to fit to ‘Solly’ and the choreography that we put together.”

Alanna Flax-Clark (USA) won the FEI Para Freestyle Grade II – CPEDI 3* with a score of 68.222%. Flax-Clark rode her horse El Paso, a 15-year-old Dutch Riding Pony gelding by Elegant.

Roxanne Trunnell (USA) ended the day with a win in the FEI Para Freestyle Grade I – CPEDI 3* with a score of 77.889%. Trunnell rode Dolton, a seven-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Danone I and owned by Kate Shoemaker.

Isabell Werth Master Class & Clinic to Take Place at AGDF on Thursday, February 7

Wellington, FL – January 18, 2019 – The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival is excited to announce the first-ever Master Class and Clinic with dressage sensation Isabell Werth (GER), one of the most decorated equestrians in history and current leader of the FEI Dressage World Ranking List. The clinic will take place on Thursday, February 7, during week five of AGDF at Equestrian Village at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), located at 13500 South Shore Boulevard Wellington, FL 33414.

Gates will open to the public at 5:00 p.m. and the first clinic session will begin at 5:30 p.m. An autograph signing with Werth will take place prior to the start of the clinic with posters provided. Three clinic sessions are set to be featured, showcasing up to six horse and rider combinations, ranging from Young Horse through Prix St. Georges and Grand Prix levels.

General Admission tickets for the event are priced at $50/ticket, while Covered Seating ticket holders will have upgraded seating and access to a cash bar for $75/ticket. Ample food and beverage options will be available throughout the grounds for General Admission tickets, as well as for those purchasing Covered Seating tickets. Werth remains one of the most decorated equestrians of all time, amassing a tremendous ten medals in her five Olympic Games appearances (1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2016), including six Gold. Currently the number one-ranked Dressage rider in the world, Werth has competed at the top levels of the sport for over four decades and has an extensive list of accomplishments, both Team and Individual, for her home nation of Germany in international competition. Most recently Werth took Team Gold at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 and was the highest placed individual rider throughout the competition, earning two Gold medals.

Roxanne Trunnell and Dolton Kick Off CPEDI 3* Competition with Win at AGDF

Wellington, FL – January 18, 2019 – The second week of the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) features CPEDI 1*/2*/3* Para Dressage, presented by Adequan®, Mission Control, Nutrena, and Fair Sky Farm.

Roxanne Trunnell (USA) started the day with a win in the FEI Para Team Test Grade I – CPEDI 3*, with a score of 73.690%. Trunnell rode Dolton, a seven-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Danone I and owned by Kate Shoemaker. Grade I is for riders with the most severe impairments.

Trunnell is from Kennewick, WA and moved to Florida to train with Andrea Woodard. About her relationship with Dolton, Trunnell said, “It’s getting stronger. What I really love about him is how friendly he is. He is a young horse, but on the ground he acts really cute. I love how calm he is under saddle. I’m used to riding spooky horses and he never spooks with me.

“The stretch circle – we’ve really be working on getting in the stretch,” said Trunnell of her test goals. “I want to get him up in the bridle a bit more and I’m hoping to do Tokyo [Olympics] with him. That would be exciting.”

Fellow USA rider Rebecca Hart won the FEI Para Team Test Grade III – CPEDI 3* with a score of 72.794%. Hart rode El Corona Texel, a 10-year-old KWPN gelding by Wynton and owned by Rowan O’Riley.

In the FEI Para Team Test Grade II – CPEDI 3*, Alanna Flax Clark (USA) won with a score of 64.899%. Clark rode her horse El Paso, a 15-year-old Dutch Riding gelding by Elegant.

To end the day, Kate Shoemaker (USA) won the FEI Para Team Test Grade IV – CPEDI 3* with a score of 74.208% (corrected score). Shoemaker rode her horse Solitaer 40, a 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Sandro Hit.

AGDF Wraps Up Week 1 with a Win for Michael Klimke and Harmony’s Diabolo

Wellington, FL – January 12, 2019 – The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) finished its first week of competition at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL with a win for Michael Klimke (GER) and Harmony’s Diabolo in the FEI Intermediate I Freestyle CDI3*, presented by Triple Crown Nutrition.

Klimke and Harmony’s Diabolo, a nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Desparadis owned by Harmony Sporthorses, won with a score of 73.425%.

Klimke said, “I was very happy today, actually all three days, with Harmony’s Diabolo. I’ve had him since he was six, and I really think his highlight is [strength mentally, with] the nerves; he’s totally rideable. The gaits are good, and the highlight at the end is his availability for piaffe and pirouettes. He can really sit.”

Looking forward, Klimke said that “[his] plan with Harmony’s Diabolo is he goes another small tour in two weeks, then I take a break, and then I will ride him in Intermediate II.”

After AGDF, Klimke returns to his hometown of Münster, Germany, “the capital of the Westphalian Horses.” “My aim is when I come back to Germany to see that he goes in the Young Developing Grand Prix. He’s ready for it,” he said.

Klimke commented, “[Diabolo] is really one of the few horses I’ve had in my life that is in the ring exactly the same ride outside. When you make no mistakes, he makes no mistakes.”

Earlier in the day Ashley Holzer (USA) and Valentine, a nine-year-old Oldenburg mare (by Sir Donnerhall) owned by Holzer, won the FEI Intermediate I CDI1* with a score of 70.588%.

Laura Graves and Verdades Wow Spectators with Freestyle Victory at “Friday Night Stars”

Wellington, FL – January 11, 2019 – The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival concluded its second day of competition on Friday, January 11, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL with the “Friday Night Stars” FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W, presented by Wellington Agricultural Services. Laura Graves (USA) and Verdades wowed the crowd with their freestyle and won the class.

Graves and Verdades, her 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Florett AS, came out on top with an 83.220% in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W, presented by Wellington Agricultural Services.

Graves said, “I wasn’t what sure which music I was going to do tonight. In the end, I’m very, very glad I chose to do my new music. I don’t know what else I would have been saving it for. I’m just glad that the timing worked out; I haven’t ridden to it yet. It’s supposed to be about the same as my last one, so I just crossed my fingers and hoped that it worked out and it did. I’m so lucky that Terri Gallo just takes whatever idea that I have.”

Speaking of her test, Graves explained, “[I had] a big mistake in my final pirouette. I came at him a bit strong in the spur. And then in the piaffe fan, which we haven’t touched since Aachen last year, I was a bit greedy and selfish in the warm-up. He let me know that he knows his job. He gives such a good feeling when he does go well that any little bump in my hand or my leg is shocking to me.”
