Jupiter, FL – October 23, 2014 – Don’t miss the final event of the season in Steed Training and Horse Show by Appointment’s popular series! Get your boots on and come out Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25, for the family friendly Western exhibition. Learn about the exciting discipline of ranch horse riding and ranch horse competitions, which demand versatility and quick thinking from horse and rider.

Admission is free to the event at Golden L Ranch in Jupiter, FL, and spectators will have plenty to keep them entertained. While talented horses and riders show off their skills, expert commentary will be provided to give the audience insight into the challenges of the sport. Add in a variety of vendors, live music, and a barbeque, and the Cow Horse Extravaganza is an easy choice for a fun afternoon out with the family.

Singer/guitarist Tom Blake, a professional polo player, will be performing country classics and original songs throughout the day beginning at 1 p.m. Bring the family – and wear your cowboy hats – to enjoy the music and socialize in a casual, fun atmosphere. Steed Training will welcome Reverend Marcia MacLean, a non-denominational minister from the Center for Spiritual Living of the Palm Beaches, to honor horses and pets with the Blessing of the Animals at 3 p.m. Spectators are invited to bring their pets to be blessed as part of this touching ceremony.

The ranch horse exhibition will take place from 4-6 p.m., with the national anthem at 4 p.m. Steed Training is proud to welcome Erin O’Brien, a former international trick rider, barrel racer and team roper who will bring in the American flag. O’Brien, known as “the patriotic cowgirl,” has carried Old Glory for polo matches, horse shows and rodeos throughout the country following 9/11.

During the exhibition, ranch horses will demonstrate their ability by working with and without cattle in a variety of situations, proving they have what it takes to excel at the daily tasks of ranch life. Accomplished trainers Trevor and Rick Steed of Steed Training will lead the way in showcasing the sport. A carded judge will be on hand to assess the performances for the benefit of riders and spectators.

There will also be food available from 4-6 p.m. – B.Y.O.B. and something to put on the BBQ!

Alongside the Oct. 25 exhibition in Jupiter, Steed Training will offer a Reined Cow Horse Play Day from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For a small fee of $35 per entry, the arena will be open to riders who want to run through their reining patterns and practice working a cow in this relaxed, low-stakes environment. Steed Training is happy to make their highly schooled horses available to riders who are unable to bring their own. Contact Susan Shelly at (561) 305-1432 to sign up.

While the Cow Horse Extravaganza summer series is coming to an end, things are just heating up for Steed Training as they prepare to open an additional facility in Loxahatchee Groves, FL, less than 10 miles from the center of Wellington. Once complete, it will be a top-notch venue for reined cow horse competitors and other Western riders. The new facility, including a state-of-the-art arena complete with lighting, will open in January and allow Steed Training to build on their commitment to bringing Western riding to the Wellington area.

Expert horsemen Trevor and Rick Steed operate Steed Training to help horses and riders achieve their best. Steed Training’s services are in high demand among riders and competitors who value the team’s decades of experience and wealth of knowledge. Although Rick and Trevor are best known for their expertise in Western riding, high-goal polo players are among those from other disciplines who send their horses to the Steeds to benefit from their intuitive and effective training skills.

Working alongside Rick and Trevor as part of the Steed Training team are Tom DiRocco, Marketing Director and Event Coordinator, and Susan Shelly, Sponsorship Director. Steed Training is committed to bringing Western to Southeast Florida while also giving back to the local community through charitable efforts. For the Oct. 25, Steed Training is proud to welcome Horses Healing Hearts, a charitable organization that helps children in families suffering from substance abuse.

The Cow Horse Extravaganza is supported by many generous sponsors whose contributions are key to the events’ success – contact Susan Shelly at (561) 305-1432 to learn about sponsorship opportunities.

About Horse Show by Appointment

Horse Show by Appointment’s fresh approach to reined cow horse competition was an unprecedented success in its first season, and now HSBA is back for a second year. HSBA aims to make showing “Fun, Fair, and Affordable” for competitors. To accommodate those traveling long distances to show and help busy riders fit showing in at their convenience, HSBA allows riders to reserve their own ride times in advance. This cuts down on usual travel expenses such as stall rentals and hotels and encourages competitors to make the trip and join in the fun.

Each HSBA series includes four shows. Riders who compete at three out of the four shows earn a place in the annual Championship Finals, which offer over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Competitors may also qualify for the Finals in absentia by simply sending in entries and payment to each of the four shows.
