Atlanta Fall Classic – Updates and News

November 11, 2012 – I just want to thank all the exhibitors and trainers for a great horse show this week in Conyers.  We set a new Classic Company record for attendance at our fall show of 850 stalls with a wait list.  That is a giant number for a six ring show when it’s dark at 5:30.  On Saturday most hunter rings had over 200 trips and the cooperation of our exhibitors and trainers made it all come together.  Thanks to everyone for all their help for a wonderful event.

We had a great show with lots of exciting classes that will be in the full blown press release on Monday but until then I have a few things to share.

1. A revised schedule is on our new website for week two; it will be up on Monday afternoon.

Conyers, GA — Nov 20, 2011 — Week two of the Atlanta Fall Classics put the jumpers center stage for the finale event of Classic Company’s 2011 season with two big $25,000 classes. “This week’s big money classes were a nice way to end the season for our exhibitors. It’s been a great year of shows and the new season will be even better!” Bob Bell, President of Classic Company, said.

Show jumping action kicked off on Friday with the $25,000 EMO Welcome Stake presented by EMO Insurance. The field of 31 was a virtual who’s who of the sport with the likes of Olympic vet Chris Kappler, USET Champion Schuyler Riley, and show jumping Million Dollar Club member Wilhelm Genn taking on Allen Rheinheimer’s complex 12 fence layout with one goal-clear the jumps and beat the 82 second time allowance.

Atlanta Fall Classic Highlights

We had a great week in Conyers.  The weather got a little chilly a few mornings but warmed up perfect for showing.

This week we hosted the annual Barry Lane Memorial Children’s Adult Jumper Classic.  As we have for the past eight years we offered $25,000, but because of all the hoops the jumper committees want us to jump through for permission to offer such a class (and we were told not to ask again until we offered more money to the Jr AOs or the Open horses), we ran two classes, a $10,000 and a $15,000 class.  They were a great success.  We had 59 compete for the big bucks.  One class held on Saturday under the lights in the Olympic stadium and one on Sunday before the Grand Prix.

The winner of the first class was Little Tom and Patricia Hennessy trained by Chris Kappler.

Just a reminder, the Atlanta Fall Classic (November 9-20) is just around the corner. The prize lists have been mailed and are posted online. The highlights of the show include the National Classic Equitation Finals sponsored by Equestrian Travel.

A list of those qualified is posted on the www.ClassicCompany.com home page. The Classic Company Horse of the Year standings sponsored by EMO are also posted on our home page. Both Atlanta fall events will add points for the standings.

This year the annual $25,000 Barry Lane Memorial class will be divided into a $10,000 class and a $15,000 class. This was changed due to USEF rules and hoops.
