Exciting Updates from Wild Horse Fire Brigade – Introducing “Wild Stallion”
Greetings, supporters!
We’ve been tirelessly working to protect our local ancestral cultural-heritage herd of 200 horses while advocating for the preservation of other wild horses across the region. A key focus is launching our large-scale, nature-based rewilding program, which aims to restore populations of up to ten thousand horses living naturally, free from human interference.
In addition, we’re enhancing our local wild horse habitats, expanding our field research campus, and contributing articles to various publications as part of our comprehensive education strategy. Of course, there’s much more happening behind the scenes.
Recently, while revisiting some of my older articles, I rediscovered my poetry and photopoetry, including a piece titled “The Vanishing Spirit of America.” Written in 2019, it highlights the looming extinction of our remaining wild horses due to actions by the BLM, USFS, and certain so-called advocates who promote sterilization — misleadingly labeled as “Fertility Control” — which amounts to a form of genocide against these majestic animals.
Inspired by those words, I transformed the poem into a new country-western song: “Wild Stallion” (written by William E. Simpson II – © 2025). Overnight, it’s become a local sensation! Our community is absolutely loving it.
What a thrill — “Wild Stallion” made its FM radio debut on KMED in southern Oregon on September 19, 2025. We hope this heartfelt tune will rally more Americans to support our all-volunteer nonprofit, Wild Horse Fire Brigade, and our proven, nature-based approach to wild horse management.
Even the show host, Bill Meyer, admitted it brought tears to his eyes! We’ve received an outpouring of messages from listeners moved by the song. Since I can’t do it justice with my own voice, I crafted the lyrics, arranged the music via computer, and used AI to generate a fitting voice.
Now, professional country-western singer-songwriters are reaching out, eager to lend their human voices to this powerful, evocative track.
Check it out on our YouTube channel! (Note: There’s about 5 seconds of silence at the start to allow time to read the title screen before the music begins.)
Your support means everything to us and the wild horses we serve. Thank you for standing with us!
Best regards, William E. Simpson II
