20 February 2025 – Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show 2025 (LHKIHS) came to a thrilling conclusion, marking its successful debut. Over the three days, world-class equestrian athletes and their magnificent horses delivered unforgettable performances, captivating spectators, and solidifying Hong Kong’s position on the global equestrian stage.
This year’s edition showcased world-class performances across multiple disciplines, from 5-star Show Jumping (CSI5*) including the Longines Grand Prix, to power classes with the highlight being the Great Wall Challenge – Puissance. With over 50 international horses flown into Hong Kong for this prestigious show, the competition was fierce, the performances breathtaking, and the atmosphere electric.
The Longines Welcome Stakes brought the Show a winner from France in Roger Yves Bost riding Embassy du Chateau. Patrick Lam, a member of the HKJC Equestrian Team and representing Hong Kong, China, was also in the final line-up in fifth place with Dakota. The winner of Saturday’s Longines Stakes was Richard Vogel from Germany with Cloudio, and Patrick Lam put in another phenomenal performance to finish third, again with Dakota. The biggest competition of the show, the Longines Grand Prix on Sunday, was a perfect finale to the Show, with Zascha Nygaard Lill from Denmark along with Com’on Stanley claiming the top spot.
More excitement is expected in the 2026 edition of the show, with Mr Richard Ireland, CEO of Clarion Events Asia Pte Ltd, the event organiser behind the Show, commenting: “This year’s show has been a resounding success, bringing together the best in equestrian sport and an enthusiastic audience from across the region. Energised by this momentum, we are committed to delivering an even more spectacular experience next year. We eagerly anticipate welcoming riders, horses, and fans once again to Hong Kong, where we will celebrate the grace, skill, and excellence of equestrian sport on an even grander scale.”
Jo Peck, Event Director for organisers HPower Group, who have provided sports and equestrian management for the show, said: “We aim to establish a significant legacy in Hong Kong and create a long-standing event that is the equal of our already well established, 50-year-old London International Horse Show.”
Alongside Show Jumping classes the audience was entertained by pint-sized jockeys racing in the Shetland Pony Grand National, Liberty Horseman Santi Serra, and a Musical Ride and Freestyle display presented by The Hong Kong Jockey Club.
