Ryan Genn Tops Grand Prix at ESP Summer Series

Wellington, Fla. – September 14, 2026 — Ryan Genn of Wellington, Fla. closed out another week of national competition at Wellington International with a win in the $24,999 Haig Landscape Grand Prix on Sunday riding Venezia d’Austral Z, a 10-year-old Zangersheide mare sired by Verdi and owned by Bridlebourne Stable.

Partnered together since the mare’s 8-year-old year, Genn made quick work of Andy Christiansen’s derby field course. Double-clear in 39.428 seconds, Genn pipped Israeli Olympian Ashlee Bond riding Agrippina Farms’ Comme Ce Comme Ca, who finished just fractions off the pace in 39.878 seconds. Pablo Barrios capped the top three aboard his own Don d’Alme C Z in 42.395 seconds.

“She has a ton of scope, and now after two years, she’s still improving as a 10-year-old,” said Genn, who was offered the ride by Bridlebourne Stable’s Paula Quinn after she purchased the horse as a 6-year-old. “The moment she came into the barn, we all fell in love with her. She has a presence about her, and she just keeps getting better.”

Genn piloted two horses on Sunday and finished top five with Faveur de Piquet, also owned by Quinn, after an unlucky rail in the nine-horse jump-off.

“They both can go ultra-fast — I knew I could get 44 on the mare, but I wasn’t sure she could get 39,” said Genn about his approach to the short course. “I caught one really well, and she has a huge step and loves this field, so I just kept going. She explodes off your leg, and I honestly wasn’t even sure if I was going to catch the time or not, but she was awesome.
