Jad Dana Soars to New Heights in $10,000 Greenberg Traurig 1.40m Stake

The 2024 ESP September horse show commenced on Friday morning with the 1.40m Open Jumper Stake, sponsored by Bainbridge Companies. In this competitive event, eleven horse-and-rider pairs took on Andy Christiansen’s (ECU) intricate course, with seven trying their hand at the jump-off. Michael Murphy (USA) secured the top position with the fastest clear round, finishing in 34.42 seconds on Kaida CM, owned by South Coast. Hadden Frost (GBR) took second place with a clear round time of 35.439 seconds aboard his own horse, Insider BH. Diego Javier Vivero Viteri (ECU) rounded out the top three with a clear time of 35.95 seconds on Daddy’s Destiny, owned by Nicole Velazco Magana.

The $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby (Hunt & Go), sponsored by Parlanti, was the day’s main hunter event in GDF Hunter Ring 2. Kierstin Antoniadis (USA) excelled with her horse, Vegas de Launay, earning first place with a combined score of 176. Keri Kampsen (USA) earned second place aboard Check Please, owned by Kampsen and Lexy Reed, with a score of 175.75, while also securing third with Barolo, also owned by both Kampsen and Lexy Reed, with a score of 174.

Saturday featured the Zen Elite Equestrian Center 1.35m Open Jumper Stake on the Derby Annex, where sixteen riders competed on Andy Christiansen’s course. Juan Manuel Gallego (COL) emerged as the winner with a double-clear performance on Niagara D’ive Z, owned by Gabriela Salazar Martinez, finishing in 42.499 seconds. Diego Javier Vivero Viteri (ECU) took the second spot with a clear round in 43.96 seconds on Dreamer De La Pointe, owned by Sebastian Rodriguez. The third position was claimed by Natalie Thornell (USA) with Jamiroquai, owned by Loveland Equine Investments, who achieved a fault-free time of 47.453 seconds.

On Saturday, the $1,000 2’6”/2’9” Hunter Derby (Hunt & Go), sponsored by ProElite, showcased the talents of top hunters. Emma Ensor (USA) claimed first place with her own Woodlands Teddybear, achieving a total score of 172. Emma Butchard-Nagata (USA) earned second with a score of 171 on Dia Diamond, owned by Marcia Germain. Kim Barone (USA) rounded out the top three with a score of 169 on Rupaul, owned by Cynthia Bulwicz.

Competition concluded on Sunday with the $10,000 Greenberg Traurig 1.40m Stake, but not before Lebanon’s Jad Dana galloped to victory aboard Leonidas in a competitive jump-off.

With only three of the thirteen pairs advancing to the jump-off, the class was sure to leave no stone unturned. Pulling out all the stops and emerging victorious, Dana and his mount, Leonidas, owned by Burr Associates Inc., put in the fastest round with a four-fault time of 32.484 seconds.

Juan Manuel Gallego (COL) secured the runner-up spot with a time of 35.355 seconds on Niagara D’ive Z, owned by Gabriela Salazar Martinez. Rounding out the podium was Dana on his second mount, Know It All, owned by Burr Associates Inc., with a time of 38.82 seconds.

Jad Dana and Leonidas Race to Victory in $10,000 Palm Beach Equine Clinic 1.40m Stake

The 2024 ESP Labor Day horse show got underway Friday morning with the 1.40m Open Jumper Stake, sponsored by Bainbridge Companies. Nine horse-and-rider pairs tried their hand at Hector Loyola’s (PUR) course, with six trying their hand at the jump-off. In the end, Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN) put in the quickest clear round with a time of 41.151 seconds aboard Condara, owned by Victoria Heurtematte. Earning second with a clear 41.318 second time was Richard Neal (USA) and his own Catemaco LS, while Jad Dana (LBN) rounded out the top results with a four-fault time of 38.863 aboard Leonidas, owned by Burr Associates Inc.

Saturday’s highlight class on the Derby Field was the Florida Coast Equipment 1.35m Open Jumper Stake with seven competitors dueling for the victory on the Hector Loyola-designed course. Coming out on top was Abigail Mc Ardle (USA) and Samuel Parot’s I&H Boogy Woogy with a double-clear time of 39.038 seconds. Taking the second-place title was Lia Screnci (USA) and her own Puccini Van Orti, with a clear time of 42.742 seconds. Rounding out the podium in the 1.35m Open Jumper Stake was Juan Manuel Bolanos Barrios (ESA) aboard Rondalla LS, owned by BZB Barn LLC, with a fault-free time of 43.253 seconds.

Saturday’s highlight hunter competition on the Derby Annex field was the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby (Hunt & Go), sponsored by Parlanti. A total of five riders went head-to-head with Isabel Coleman (USA) coming out on top with her own Fenway, with scores of 87 and 87 for a total score of 174. Earning the red rosette was Isabella Rowan (USA) and Irocco Grey S, owned by Carolex Stables LLC, with scores of 82 and 83 for a combined score of 165, while Francesca Rowan (USA) earned third with total score of 157 aboard Casallix, owned by Carolex Stables LLC.

Jad Dana (LBN) rose to the occasion Sunday morning, sealing the victory in the $10,000 Palm Beach Equine Clinic 1.40m Stake. Dana navigated Leonidas, owned by Burr Associates Inc., through the Héctor J Loyola (PUR) designed 12-obstacle course. Dana cleared the timers in a rapid fault-free time of 35.499 seconds to take the win.

Abigail Mc Ardle (USA) finished as runner-up with a time of 36.663 seconds with Olympia Van Het Eikenhof, owned by Sweetwater Jumpers LLC, while Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN) and Condara, owned by Victoria Heurtematte, took third with a four-fault time of 38.247 seconds.

Frankie Chesler and Ibalius SMH Win $10k Evermore Bank 1.40m Stake to Close Out ESP Summer III

ESP Summer III got underway Friday morning with the 1.40m Open Jumper Stake, sponsored by Bainbridge Companies, taking place on the Derby Field. The Andy Christiansen-designed course featured nine horse-and-rider combinations. Six pairs advanced to the immediate jump-off, with USA’s Alannah Wagstaff clinching the title aboard Great Thing, owned by Mill Pond Farm Inc., with a swift time of 33.523 seconds. Frankie Chesler (CAN) clinched the second-place title with Ibalius SMH, owned by Sher-Al Farm Inc., with a time of 33.731 seconds. Rounding out the podium was Juan Manuel Gallego with a time of 37.219 seconds aboard the Andressa Quadros-owned, Starsky.

Following Friday’s highlight jumper class, hunters displayed extraordinary talent in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby (Hunt & Go), sponsored by Parlanti. This premier hunter event was the first of two hosted on Equestrian Village’s grass Derby Annex Field. The competition followed a “Hunt and Go” format, with the initial part of the course judged as the classic round and the latter part as the handy phase. Faith Schuttemeyer (USA) and Larson, owned by Chad Keenum, secured the blue ribbon with a total score of 180. Taylor St. Jacques (CAN) and Castleforbes Glenn, owned by Sergent Stables LLC, placed second with a score of 171.5, while Maggie Alexander (USA) secured the third place ribbon with a score of 171 aboard her own entry, California Prima Z.

Abigail Mc Ardle (USA) claimed victory Saturday morning in the 1.35m Open Jumper Stake, sponsored by Arion Sellier. Mc Ardle and her mount, Olympia Van Het Eikenhof, owned by Sweetwater Jumpers LLC, put in a lightning-fast time of 38.263 seconds, proving untouchable. On her heels was Diego Javier Vivero Viteri (ECU), clinching both the second and third place ribbons. Viteri claimed second aboard Daddy’s Destiny, owned by Nicole Velazco Magana, with a time of 38.606 seconds while securing third with a clear 41.935 second time aboard the Sebastian Rodriguez-owned, Starinue.

Saturday afternoon, hunter riders took to the Derby Annex field for the $1,000 2’6”/2’9” Hunter Derby (Hunt & Go), sponsored by ProElite. Erika Sergent (USA) took top honors on Diara Blue, owned by Sergent Stables LLC, with a combined score of 165. USA’s Amy Foster earned the second-place ribbon aboard Wakefield Stables LLC’s High Roller, with a score of 162, while third place was secured by Joscelyn Richards (USA) and Remember Me, owned by Sky Equestrian Sales LLC, with a combined score of 158.

The $10,000 Evermore Bank 1.40m Stake wrapped up competition for the week with Frankie Chesler (CAN) and Ibalius SMH securing the blue on the prestigious Equestrian Village Derby Field. Twelve horse-and-rider combinations took to the Andy Christiansen-designed course with ten advancing to the immediate jump-off.

Chesler and Ibalius SMH, owned by Sher-Al Farm Inc., achieved the fastest clear round with a time of 35.873 seconds, securing themselves the lion’s share of the prize money. No stranger to the podium, Alannah Wagstaff (USA) and her longtime partner, Great Thing, owned by Mill Pond Farm Inc., were just shy of Chesler’s time, stopping the clocks in a clear 36.512 seconds to earn themselves the red rosette. Nataly Leibovitz (ISR), co-owner of Kiss Me alongside 3 Graces Dressage, rounded out the podium with a time of 38.848 seconds.

Natalie Dean and Dotcom D’Authuit Dominate the $25k IDA Development Grand Prix

Wellington, FL – May 15, 2022 – The final week of the ESP Spring Series came to a close on Sunday, but not before the USA’s Natalie Dean and Dotcom D’Authuit placed the winning jump-off ride in the $25,000 IDA Development Grand Prix to capture the final Grand Prix win of the Spring Series. As the groom of the winning Grand Prix horse, Marlon Huete was the recipient of the Schneiders Groom Award for the $25,000 IDA Development Grand Prix.

Sunday morning’s $2,500 Medium Amateur/Junior Jumper Classic, presented by Palm Beach Equine Clinic consisted of 18 horse-and-rider combinations to go on the Derby field. Mia Green (USA) aboard her own, Fiero, took home top honors stopping the clock at 44.127 seconds defeating Lacy Moorone Cramer (USA) and Cincinnati, owned by Equi-Sport, LLC, who crossed the timers at 44.297 seconds. Erin Haas (USA) and North Face Farm’s Larkin finished in third place with a time of 46.848 seconds.

Topping a field of 12 competitors, Paula Portocarrero (USA) and her Queretaro 2 were victorious in the $2,500 NAL Low Amateur/Junior Jumper Classic, presented by Equiline. Madeline Thatcher (USA) and Tou La Moon, owned by Pony Lane Farm, finished in second place after stopping the clock at 44.454 seconds, while Emily Ablin (USA) and Cassini Miaflores, owned by Leeann Ablin, finished in third place with a jump-off time of 46.426 seconds.

Diego Javier Vivero Viteri (VEN) and Eickendorf Horses’ Quinn 33 took home Friday’s top spot in the $10,000 Bainbridge Companies 1.40m Open Stake. Against a 20-horse jump-off, the pair stopped the clock with a winning jump-off time of 36.868 seconds. Just off the pace, John Perez Bohm (COL) took home second with his mount Gigi-Carmen in 37.231 seconds. The final spot on the podium was claimed by Abigail Mc Ardle (USA) and Samuel Parot Jr’s I&H Boogy Woogy after clearing the jump-off in 37.878 seconds.

On Thursday, Diego Javier Vivero Viteri (VEN) and Quinn 33 also topped the $5,000 Omega Alpha 1.35m Classic against a field of over 30 competitors. The pair raced to first with a time of 41.081 seconds in the jump-off. It was a close second for David Blake (IRL) and Pine Hollow Farm’s Nixon Van D’Abelendreef with a jump-off time of 41.591 seconds, followed by John Perez Bohm (COL) and Voodoo 10, owned by Julio David Vainer, with a clear jump-off time of 41.628 seconds.

Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN) and Baroness, owned by Leeann Ablin, topped Thursday’s 7 Year Old Young Jumper class, presented by QBS Equestrian LLC and M. Michael Meller Sport Horses. The pair placed double-clear rounds, stopping the clock at 35.234 seconds in the jump-off to top the class. In reserve, Taylor Kain (USA) piloted The Gelt Group’s Havanna C2 to a second-place finish with a clear jump-off time of 37.554 seconds. Jad Dana (LBN) rounded out the podium with DK Daisy, owned by Abigail Perry.

Thanks to consistent placings over the course of the Spring Series, Kent Farrington (USA) was awarded the $1,000 Assets Risk Management National Grand Prix Rider Bonus.

Jennifer Bliss and Flight Soar to Top of Standings in $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby

Wellington, FL – May 14, 2022 – The fifth and final week of the ESP Spring Series held its featured class for hunter competitors on the grass Derby Annex at Equestrian Village on Friday. Jennifer Bliss and Flight captured their second consecutive win in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, presented by Equiline, after jumping to a two-round score of 179.

Deywi Rodriguez was the recipient of the Schneiders Groom Award following the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby as the groom of the winning derby horse. As part of the recognition, Rodriguez was presented with a bag of high-quality grooming supplies courtesy of Schneiders Tack.

Derby action continued on Saturday with the $1,000 2’6”- 2’9” Hunter Derby presented by Score at the Top, which offered less-experienced horses a chance to test derby-styled courses. Topping a field of 12 competitors, Katie Giddings and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang captured the win.

In the USHJA Hunter 2’/2’6″ division, presented by 100X Equine, Ki-Juan Minors of Wellington, FL received top honors with Wiser Now, owned by Laura Ojemann. The pair championed the division after placing consistent performances in all five of the division’s classes, earning a first and a second-place ribbon, two third-place ribbons, and a fourth-place ribbon.

Keri Kampsen captured the tricolor ribbon in the 3’ Green Hunter division with Randee Cherner’s Eliot Du Banney. The partnership was awarded three first-place ribbons which included two over-fences classes and the under saddle, to accrue the most points towards the overall championship honors.

Wellington, FL – May 7, 2022 – The Spring IV week of the ESP Spring Series saw hunters compete on the grass Derby Annex field of Equestrian Village throughout the week. The week’s feature class for hunter competitors took place on Friday, with Jennifer Bliss of Wellington, FL and Dandelion Farm LLC’s Flight topping a field of 16 competitors to capture their first derby win together thanks to two high-scoring rounds in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, presented by Equiline.

As the groom of the winning derby horse, Deywi Rodriguez was the recipient of the Schneiders Groom Award following the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby. As part of the recognition, Rodriguez was presented with a bag of high-quality grooming supplies courtesy of Schneiders Tack.

On Saturday afternoon, competitors jumped for the blue ribbon in the $1,000 2’6″-2’9″ Hunter Derby, presented by Score At The Top. Nabbing the win by more than ten points, Samantha Senft of Wellington, FL and her own La Roux 11 led the victory gallop with a total score of 177 points.

Ava Scharbo of Winnetka, IL and her own Logan impressed in the USHJA 3’ Hunter division, presented by Perfect Products. Though the pair only competed in three of the division’s five classes, they earned first place in all of their showings, which included two over-fences classes and the under saddle, to accrue the most points towards the overall championship honors.

In the 15-17 Equitation, Natalie Groulx of Bloomfield Hills, MI piloted Kate Abajian’s Lambada to a dominating victory in the divisional standings. The partnership was awarded three first-place finishes in three classes to earn the championship tricolors by a wide margin.

Ashlee Bond Adds Another Win in $37k Assets Risk Management Qualifier CSI3*

Wellington, FL – Apr. 22, 2022 – A diverse field of 57 partnerships representing 17 nations showcased their abilities in the $37,000 Assets Risk Management Qualifier CSI3* on Friday of ESP Spring III, with each team aiming to finish in the top 45 to qualify for Sunday’s $140,000 Palm Beach County Sports Commission Grand Prix CSI3*. Having already earned an FEI victory on Thursday over course designer Andy Christiansen’s (ECU) track, Ashlee Bond (ISR) made it two-for-two thanks to a victory aboard Donatello 141 in Friday’s highlight jumper event on the grass Derby Field.

A whopping 80 entries competed in the $10,000 Bainbridge Companies 1.40m Open Stake earlier in the day on the Derby Field. Though it was a National class, the contest attracted an international group of some of the world’s top talent, such as Kent Farrington (USA), Shane Sweetnam (IRL), Erynn Ballard (CAN), and Jessica Springsteen (USA), among others. No stranger to going fast, Farrington galloped Chato Lou, owned by Haity McNerney and Amalaya Investments, to victory in a short-course time of 38.31 seconds, more than a full second than the next-closest finishers.

Gabriel and Victoria Colvin Rise to the Top in $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby

The hunters once again had the chance to shine in Wellington International’s International Arena during the third week of the ESP Spring Series. The week’s feature class for hunter competitors took place on Friday, as 29 horse-and-rider duos vied for the lion’s share of the prize money in the $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, presented by Bainbridge Companies. Ultimately, the tricolor ribbon was awarded to Victoria Colvin of Loxahatchee, FL and J T Farm’s Gabriel, thanks to two high-scoring rounds.

Derby action continued on Friday with the $1,000 2’6”- 2’9” Hunter Derby, presented by Score At The Top. Against a field of 17 competitors, Bonnie McCabe of Glastonbury, CT and her own Levi captured the win after posting scores of 82 and 88 for a combined two-round score of 178.

Farrington and Orafina Sweep the Competition in $140k Bainbridge Companies Grand Prix CSI3*

Wellington, FL – April 16, 2022 – It was a picture-perfect day on the derby field for the $140,000 Bainbridge Companies Grand Prix CSI3* on Saturday, April 16. The highlight class of the second week of the 2022 ESP Spring Series saw a starting order of 36 elite contenders test the opening track set by American course designer Ken Krome. In an exciting jump-off round, Olympic team silver medalist Kent Farrington (USA) and Orafina soared straight to the top of the leaderboard to claim the coveted prize and the lion’s share of the prize money.

Following CSI3* grand prix action, a new group of riders took to the field to compete in the $35,000 Resilient Fitness Grand Prix. A total of 38 horse-and-rider pairs tested the course, which consisted of 16 efforts, with just four advancing to the jump-off. Ultimately, James Billington (GBR) emerged as the class victor after speeding through the short course in 37.643 seconds with Samantha Mackenzie’s Inajottie WB. Tomas Yofre (ARG) piloted Cardora, owned by Stellium Sport Horses LLC, to a second-place finish with a jump-off time of 38.735 seconds. Rounding out the podium, Luis Fernando Larrazabal (VEN) cleared the jump-off in 39.19 seconds with Victoria Heurtematte’s Condara.

Out of a field of twenty-four competitors in Saturday morning’s $2,500 High Amateur/Junior Jumper Classic, presented by Noltrex® Vet, top honors were awarded to Maya Nayyar (USA) aboard her own Vertige De Vigneul. In the jump-off, Nayyar and Vertige De Vigneul were the only combination to put in an accurate, quick, and clear round in the short track and crossed the timers in 44.539 seconds. Nayyar’s jump-off competitors included Caroline Drummond (BRA) aboard her own Joules VD Hooghoeve, who rode to second place, and Alexandra Thornton (GBR) and Dunwalke LLC’s Blueberry, who finished in third.

All In Horses Cava and Santiago Lambre Are Victorious Again in $37k Nutrena 1.50m Classic CSI3*

Wellington, FL – April 15, 2022 – The second week of the 2022 ESP Spring Series continued with FEI competition on the grass Derby Field at Equestrian Village on Friday, April 15, 2022. Continuing their winning streak, Brazil’s Santiago Lambre and All In Horses Cava secured their second victory this week after completing the fastest jump-off time in the $37,000 Nutrena 1.50m Classic CSI3*.

From a starting order of 16 entries, seven riders navigated through the course, set by Ken Krome (USA), with no faults to advance to the jump-off. Of the seven pairs, just three put in a second foot-perfect round. The first horse-and-rider combination to go clear was Paul O’Shea (IRL) and Team Eye Candy’s Hellcat, setting the time to beat at 46.50 seconds, which would hold up for second place. However, their time in the lead was cut short as Lambre and All In Horses Cava, owned by All In Horses, sped through the course in a swift 44.86 seconds, knocking nearly two seconds off O’Shea’s time. The final pair to place a clear round in the jump-off, Catherine Tyree (USA) and Bokai, owned by Catherine Tyree LLC, followed their lead but fell just behind O’Shea with a time of 49.24 seconds for third place.

Friday morning’s $5,000 Omega Alpha 1.35m Classic held on Equestrian Village’s Derby Annex Field saw 20 competitive entries test the first round, set by Catsy Cruz (MEX). Only seven horse-and-rider combinations advanced to the short course while five finished their day double clear. Ultimately, John Perez Bohm (COL) and Julio David Vainer’s entry, Cazaan, secured the leading time as the second-to-last pair in the jump-off. The winning pair crossed the timers in the jump-off at 38.774 seconds, edging out Baucis D’Ouilley, owned by H5 Sport Horses, and Enrique Gonzalez (MEX), who had a time of 40.269 seconds. Finishing in third place was Ireland’s Kevin Mealiff and the Oakland Ventures LLC entry, Schugga Tschei, after clearing the course in 40.563 seconds.

Grant Seger Opens Up the 2022 Winter Equestrian Festival with 1.45m Jumper Victory

Wellington, FL – January 5, 2022 – The 2022 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), the world’s largest and longest-running horse show circuit, is underway with competition beginning on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL. The 13-week circuit features top jumper, hunter, and equitation competition until April 3.

In the opening class of the 2022 WEF, the $8,000 Douglas Elliman Real Estate 1.45m Jumpers, Grant Seger (USA) and Dr. J, owned by Grey Fox Crossing, used their final position in the order as an advantage as they sped to the win in the two-phase format class in 35.827 seconds. This week’s International Arena course designer is Eric Hasbrouck (USA).
