Wellington, FL (March 5, 2014) – Saturday, March 1, was a day to remember for Dream Street Stallions’ Rick Rockefeller-Silva and Rubinero, a 16.3 hand, fourteen-year-old black Hanoverian stallion. They placed first in the AGDF 8 Palm Beach Derby National Intermediaire I Open with a score of 71.447%.
Rubinero represents the best genetics of esteemed stallion station Gestuet Vorwerk. This black stallion really is in a class of his own, combining highly refined bloodlines, a striking exterior, scope, and impressive movement through generous freedom at the shoulder. At his 70-day test he was second in the dressage portion of the test with a score of 140.54, and was third overall. Rubinero receiving a 10 for rideability at his licensing in Neustadt/Dosse, Germany, a testament to the wonderful temperament of the Rubinstein line. He is now standing for US Breeders at Dream Street Stallions in Wellington, Florida.
“Whether I am riding Rubinero or training him with his usual competition partner, adult amateur Dawn Sears Bernardo, Rubinero always demonstrates a willing and kind character. He’s extraordinarily brave,” says Rick Rockefeller-Silva. No stranger to the winners circle, Rockefeller-Silva was the High Point Champion during the inaugural year of the Global Dressage Festival, and recently won the Intermediaire-I aboard yet another premium stallion from Dream Street, Desperado. Based in Wellington for the winter season, Dream Street will spend their summers at Legacy USA, just 25 minutes from downtown Chicago.
And Rubinero has proven that he is more than just a horse that can win under a professional. Bernardo and Rubinero had an exceptional show February 1-2, winning the AGDF4 National Show Prix St. Georges with a 67.763%. They won blue ribbons yet again during the AGDF5 CDI 4*/3*, February 6-9, in the Adult Amateur division FEI Intermediaire I classes on Thursday (60.396%) and Saturday (62.10%). “I’m so pleased with Rubinero. I’m incredibly blessed to have such an amazing stallion as my competition partner,” Dawn said. Rockefeller-Silva added, “This is a new combination. Dawn has only ridden Rubinero for two months. The two are just getting to know one another, which makes their winning even more impressive.”
Rubinero’s ability to compete and win under the guidance of both an adult amateur and a seasoned professional makes him a unique option for US breeders. His history of success in Europe proves he is among the elite stallions standing in the world. In 2004 Rubinero participated in the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. He placed first and had other high placings in novice and elementary dressage horse tests with the highest scores of 9.0, at the State Championships in Rastede where he became Vice Champion.
In 2005 he qualified for the Bundeschampionat for five year old dressage horses, where he achieved several first and other places in elementary and medium level dressage horse tests, and took bronze at the Rastede State Championship. In 2007, a son from Rubinero’s first crop was approved for stallion duty, and he has many premium foals.
