Adrienne Iverson and Donar R Top $35k New York Welcome Stake at Old Salem Farm

North Salem, New York – Adrienne Iverson (CAN) and Redfield Farm’s Donar R bested a field of 49 to win the $35,000 New York Welcome Stake on Friday and kick off FEI competition at Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, running May 10-15 and May 17-22 at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY. Hometown hero, Mattias Tromp of North Salem, claimed second aboard Avon for Beyaert Farm, Inc., while Paul O’Shea (IRL) finished third in the irons of NLF Favorite for Nordic Lights Farm, LLC.

Iverson, 29, faced courses by designer Richard Jeffery of Great Britain from the 19th position in the original order. She was eventually one of 21 to advance to the jump-off and topped seven double-clear rounds with a blistering time of 40.47 seconds for the win. Tromp and Avon were fractions shy of the win on 40.83 seconds, while O’Shea and NLF Favorite broke the tape in 42.83 seconds for third. Fourth was presented to Christine McCrea (USA) and Win For Life with a jump-off time of 42.97 seconds, and Lauren Tisbo (USA) capped the top five aboard on Mr. Visto in 43.04 seconds.

Iverson has had the ride on Donar R, a 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, for a year after partnering with Emil Spadone and Paul Hendrix to add him to her string.

“He had a slow winter, but a really great spring so far,” said Iverson of her mount. “I’m always looking for that special horse, and I’m really lucky Emil and Paul came across him because you don’t find horses like that all the time.”

Donar R has carried Iverson to several top placings over their 12 months together, but she admits that some of his best efforts have been on grass footing, making Old Salem Farm their ideal location. While containing Donar R’s excitement has proved to be the biggest challenge for Iverson, the pair clicked this week to pull off an impressive win.

“He has so much energy, but he’s the most powerful horse I’ve ever ridden,” she said. “It’s hard to complain about excitement because he loves what he does, and he’s always honest. I’m just so lucky to have him – it’s hard to find a horse that is as scopey, careful, and competitive as he is.”

According to Iverson, testing Donar R is the plan as the gelding continues to improve the more he is challenged. They will contest Sunday’s $50,000 Old Salem Farm CSI 2* Grand Prix, presented by The Kincade Group, with hopeful plans for more blue ribbons in the future.

“My goals, especially for such a good horse, are to always keep him happy and healthy,” concluded Iverson. “I’ll continue to the best I can and hopefully we can win more classes like this.”

Earlier in the day on Friday, O’Shea claimed another top ribbon by winning the $6,500 Open Jumper 1.35m. Coming up on Saturday at Old Salem Farm, The Grand Prix Field will host children, junior, and amateur jumper competition, in addition to featuring the $15,000 Old Salem Farm Speed Derby at 12 pm. Outside the ring, A New Chance Animal Rescue will be on-site at Old Salem Farm from 12-3 pm. Family activities, including face painting will begin at 11 am with an Ice Cream Social hosted by Pegasus Therapeutic Riding kicking off at 2 pm. Finally, HEART Equine Ambulance will be available for education tours of their equipment from 1 to 2 pm.

$25,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix Victory for Adrienne Iverson and Fandango HX

OCALA, Florida (March 22, 2015): On Monday, March 23, the Ocala Horse Properties Stadium will host the iconic Great American $1 Million Grand Prix, but first, Hunters had their day in the sun for the $25,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix. Spectators remained on the edge of their seats as it all came down to the last round of the day when Fandango HX, owned by Redfield Farms, piloted by Adrienne Iverson of Toronto, Canada, swooped in to dominate the class and claim a first place finish.

A field of 36, many of which were top Devoucoux Hunter Prix circuit contenders including Robert Lee, Harold Chopping, Aaron Vale and Amanda Steege, took to Buddy Brown’s course for their piece of the final hunter prize purse of the HITS Ocala season. Iverson proved to be in-it-to-win-it as she left the first round with an impressive 92 for the lead, giving full credit to her five-year-old stallion mount.

“The first round was interesting and fun, but fair for everybody,” said Iverson. “It was Fandango’s first derby and he handled it really well. He is incredibly brave and natural at this. I’m really excited for the future with him.”

Throughout Round Two, the top of the leaderboard continued to alternate. Claiming the round’s high score of 90, Aaron Vale of Williston, Florida and Dress Balou, owned by Donald Stewart, cruised up the standings eleven spots with scores of 80 and 90, for a combined total of 170. Vale briefly held the top spot until Harold Chopping of Southern Pines, North Carolina, riding Caroline Russell Howe’s Caramo, rode to scores of 90 and 82.5 for a total of 172 to take the lead.

It wasn’t until Iverson’s entrance was the fate of the class decided. Last to go, Iverson focused on her performance and her partner, not the pressure. Ultimately scoring a 81.5 for a combined total of 173.5, Iverson bumped Chopping to second and Vale to third.

“It didn’t matter how everyone else did. I just tried to do as well as I could,” said Iverson. “It was definitely nice to win his first hunter prix. You can’t win them all if you don’t win the first one.”

Looking ahead, Iverson has Championship Weekend dreams for Fandango HX. “We’re aiming for the Stal Hendrix Pre-Green Futurity in Saugerties,” she said, although her immediate future is equally as exciting.

“I’m really excited for tomorrow,” she added, referring to her shot at the richest purse in show jumping at the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix, where she will ride Donar R.

Fourth place went to Lavish, owned by Phyllis Harlow, led by David Beisel of Goshen, Ohio, to scores of 85 and 84.5, totaling 169.5. Greg Prince of Sherborn, Massachusetts capped off fifth place with Chances R, owned by Artillery Lane LLC, and scores of 83 and 84, for a combined total of 167.

Adrienne Iverson and Huehuetenango Step Up from Pre-Green to Win $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix

OCALA, FL (February 17, 2014) – The showdown in the hunter ring continues and the stakes were raised in the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix at the Ocala Winter Festival. Rider/trainer Adrienne Iverson of Califon, New Jersey and Huehuetenango, owned by Lavanta Coffee Roasters of Flanders, New Jersey, out-rode a large field of 62 hopefuls to win. It was Iverson’s first time showing in the new Ocala Horse Properties Stadium where she was challenged with a course designed by Doug Russell of Ocala, Florida. The winning scores of 85 and 87 landed Iverson and Huehuetenango a total score of 172 for the win.

“Everyone had good things to say about the course and we got a lot of compliments on it,” said Russell. “All the riders loved riding in the new stadium.”

For the second week in a row, second place went to rider/trainer Amanda Steege of Bedminster, New Jersey and Zidane for owner Susan Darragh with scores of 88 and 83.5 for a total score of 171.5.Third place went to rider/trainer Martien Van der Hoeven of Spring, Texas and Black Label for owner Augusta Pines Farm with scores of 87 and 84 for a total score of 171. Fourth place went to Ashton Alexander of Ocala, Florida and Fieona for owner Jack Towell of with scores of 86.5 and 84.25 for a total of 170.75, while fifth place was awarded to MTM Hands Down with Tracy Fenney riding for MTM Farm of Flower Mound, Texas scoring 84.5 and 86, for a total of 170.5.

“It was a thrill to win today, and lots of fun to ride in the new stadium,” commented Iverson. “This seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare was recently imported from Holland by her owners, and we have been doing the pre-green hunters. She is still a little green, but proved today she was ready for the move up. I am so happy with her performance today – she just went along with everything.”

Devoucoux Hunter Prix competition continues throughout the duration of the HITS Ocala Circuit as the race to qualify for the Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final is in full swing.

$5,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix
It was a great belated Valentine’s gift for owner Jamie Stryker of Morriston, Florida, as his personable and seemingly ageless 17-year-old Warmblood gelding Modigliani and Alexa Bayko, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, jumped to back-to-back wins in the Platinum Performance Hunter Prix at HITS Ocala. The pair defeated a formidable field of 32, riding the course set by course Russell with scores of 88 and 87 for a total score of 175. It was the first time under the lights for the pair in the new Ocala Horse Properties Stadium.

“It was wonderful jumping in the new stadium and such a nice experience to have so much room,” said Alexa. “‘Mo’ enjoyed the gallops and so did I. It is a nice change from the smaller hunter rings. The footing was really good too.”

In second place was Haleigh Landrigan of Marshfield, Massachusetts riding Acovibu for owner Nancy Vinal of Chestnut Hill with scores of 86 and 84 for a total of 170. Third place went to Kimberly Maloomian of Tavares, Florida riding Urlala for Terry S. Maloomian with scores of 83 and 86 for a total score of 169. Taking fourth was Corinne Milbury of Boston, Massachusetts on Sienna with scores of 78 and 79 with a total score of 157. Fifth place went to Kirsten Ostling of New Canaan, Connecticut with scores of 72 and 83 for a total score of 155.

Platinum Performance Hunter Prix qualifiers will be offered weekly coast to coast this winter and throughout the HITS Saugerties and HITS Culpeper summer circuits before the Platinum Performance $250,000 Hunter Prix Final returns to the HITS Championship this fall and offers junior and amateur hunter riders the opportunity to show for exciting prize money over thrilling courses.
