Basic Horsemanship and Horsemanship I Clinic with Scott Stokes

Mahan Farm and host Brett Barteld will be presenting horsemanship clinician SCOTT STOKES for a clinic held on March 22nd and 23rd and Private Lessons held on March 24th through March 27th. ALL DISCIPLINES WELCOME (ENGLISH OR WESTERN).

WHO IS SCOTT STOKES?

Scott is a calm, respectful, and very patient teacher of horsemanship, cow working, ranch roping, and ground work. He demonstrates and communicates very clearly, and then puts his students in a position to succeed. He encourages you to try without fear of failure. His clinics are just plain fun, and if you want to learn, he will teach you.

With Scott’s laid-back and easy-going style, extensive knowledge, and teaching ability combined with countless demonstrations he performs with his personal horses, everyone will have an informative and enjoyable experience.

Whether you are just beginning with your horsemanship journey or are more experienced and want to go to the next level, you ride English or Western, Trail Ride, or Dressage, Scott can help you and your horse achieve the relationship for which you have been searching. “I have used horses in all phases of ranch work and have been working with horses full time for over 25 years. After starting hundreds of colts and worked with countless problem horses, it still amazes me how quickly and easily the horse, regardless of breed, is able to understand what we are asking if it is communicated to the horse in a way the horse can understand.”

BASIC HORSEMANSHIP AND HORSEMANSHIP I — SATURDAY, MARCH 22nd SUNDAY, MARCH 23

Scott’s clinics are designed to build respect and communication between the horse and rider making every clinic beneficial to all disciplines. In order to make sure each participant receives INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION the maximum number of clinic participants is limited to 15.

Getting control of the horse’s feet, body, and mind will be the main focus of this clinic. You will learn how to communicate with your horse in a way your horse will understand. Proper ground work in the halter will be taught/reviewed.

Most of your time will be spent in the saddle covering basic maneuvers such as lateral flexion and getting control of the hindquarters and front end. You will work on getting your horse softer and more respectful under the saddle.
