Lausanne (SUI), 1 October 2018 — Olympic bronze medallist duo and American sweethearts, Laura Graves and Verdades (a.k.a. Diddy), have topped the FEI World Dressage rankings thanks to their double silver medal placings last month at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon. The famous combination has become the first American partnership to be ranked world number 1, as they took home silver in the Grand Prix Special and the Grand Prix competitions, boosting their ranking points to 2714 points, and placing them one point ahead of Germany’s Isabel Werth and Weihegold Old.

Isabel Werth (GER) and Weihegold OLD have held the number one position for almost two years, when they took over from fellow German Kristina Bröring-Sprehe in November 2016. This ground-breaking change to the top spot has now pushed them back to second place with a total of 2713 points. Isabel Werth can be found in three more positions in the ranking list, at the third with Emilio 107 (2680 points, previously ranked 2nd), at the fourth with Bella Rose 2 (2586 points, previously ranked 51st) and at the 11th with Don Johnson FRH (2291 points, previously ranked 8).

The FEI World Equestrian Games™ were an opportunity for several combinations to move up in the rankings, with Charlotte Dujardin (GBR) and Mount St John Freestyle moving from 10th to 6th place (2416 points), whilst Kasey Perry-Glass (USA) and Goerklintgaards Dublet jumped from the 20th to the 14th position (2267 points).

A number of other well-known combinations have soared into higher ranking positions this month, with Jessica Von Bredow-Werndl (GER) and TSF Dalera BB moving from the 53rd to 22nd position (2148 points) and Great Britain’s Carl Hester and his mount Hawtins Delicato made an enormous leap from the 130th to 23rd spot (2145 points). Hans Peter Minderhoud (NED) with Glock’s Dream Boy N.O.P. previously ranked 211th managed to get to 41st place (1891 points), and Sönke Rothenberger (GER) with Cosmo 59 jumping to 43rd place from 256th (1884 points).

As the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Western European League starts on 17 October in Herning (DEN), we will no doubt see some dramatic changes throughout the season, as these top international Dressage riders give good chase and maintain their world ranking positions.

Laura Graves and Verdades Move to Number Two in FEI World Dressage Rankings

Lexington, Ky. – Laura Graves and Verdades have advanced to the number two spot in the FEI World Dressage Rankings after a successful showing at the 2017 World Equestrian Festival CHIO Aachen in July. This equals the highest ranking ever by a U.S. dressage combination. Germany’s Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD remain world-ranked number one. Great Britain’s Carl Hester and Nip Tuck are ranked third.

Previously, Graves (Geneva, Fla.) and the 2002 KWPN gelding, who defeated Werth and Weihegold OLD in the Grand Prix Special in CDIO5* Aachen, held the number four spot since August 2016 following the Rio Olympic Games where they won a team bronze medal and placed fourth in the Grand Prix Freestyle. Graves and Verdades first appeared on the world standings in February 2014, ranked 458th, after their first two international competitions at the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival.

U.S. combinations Steffen Peters and Ravel were world number two in June and July 2009, and Debbie McDonald and Lisa Wilcox were frequently world number two from 2003 to 2005.

Lausanne (SUI), 8 August 2013 – Adelinde Cornelissen (NED) and the 16-year-old Jerich Parzival will be heading to the Blue Hors FEI European Dressage Championships, part of the ECCO FEI European Championships, in Herning (DEN) later this month as world number one.

The Dutch rider and her striking chestnut KWPN gelding now lead the FEI World Dressage Rankings by 97 points, ahead of Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage 2013 champions Helen Langehanenberg (GER) and Damon Hill NRW, who are in second place with 2,802 points.

Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin and her 11-year-old Olympic partner Valegro, who became the first British combination to head the FEI World Dressage Rankings last September after securing London 2012 double gold in Greenwich Park, are third with 2,536 points.

The biggest mover in the world Top 40 is 27-year-old Michael Eilberg (GBR) and 11-year-old grey mare Half Moon Delphi, who have shot up from 159th to 31st place. The move is mainly thanks to their Grand Prix Special victory at the Hartpury Festival of Dressage, where they posted a personal best score of 74.583%, and second place in the Grand Prix Special at the Peterhof Dressur Gala in Perl-Borg (GER).

Eilberg and Half Moon Delphi will make their senior European Championships début in Herning, where they join Britain’s Olympic gold medal trio of Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester and Laura Tomlinson.
