July 12-14, 2012

The Southeastern Equestrian Trails Conference (SETC) will be held in Lexington, KY in July.  This is the first time this conference has come to Kentucky!  We are excited to have this opportunity to host the conference and trail leaders from around the country.

For Kentucky trail riders, this is a unique opportunity to hear national speakers and to mingle with other trail leaders from the Southeast U.S. as well as around the country.

We want to have a good show of support from Kentucky, with a good turnout of Kentucky trail riders and leaders.

(Note: If you have attended the Kentucky Trail Summit in past years, the Summit has been cancelled this year so we could focus on this conference!)

SETC is focused on Conservation, that is, trail riders taking care of the land on which they ride.

National organizations involved include:

  • The U.S. Forest Service
  • The National Park Service
  • The Federal Highway Administration
  • Land for Public Trust
  • Youth Conservation Corps

Topics include:

  • Mules and Packing
  • How to develop trails at your county park
  • Leave No Trace
  • Presentation by a youth riding group
  • Why is there mud in water?
  • Weed Warriors

AND MORE. (See complete agenda)

On Thursday there are two optional Workshops:

1. Trail Partnerships at Historic Shaker Village
2. Horses and History Tour

Friday and Saturday are the full conference sessions. Our First Lady, Mrs. Jane Beshear, will be welcoming all conference attendees to Lexington and Kentucky.

Keynote speakers include Darley Newman of the award-winning TV show, Equitrekking, and Susan Stormer, equestrian, bike rider and professional trail builder.
