Louise Serio and Rock On Win $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at Swan Lake Stables Kickoff “AA” Show

Littlestown, PA – June 30, 2011 – It was an excellent week for the horses and riders of Derbydown during the Swan Lake Stables Kickoff “AA” Show, held June 21-26 at Swan Lake Stables. The talented Louise Serio took home three tricolor ribbons throughout the competition. Serio also earned the win in the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby with Jennifer Burger’s Rock On. The talented group of riders at Derbydown earned multiple winning results after successfully competing in the show’s challenging hunter, jumper, and equitation divisions.

Serio piloted Jennifer Burger’s Rock On to the top of the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. The pair took home the winning title after beating out 25 competitors. Serio also garnered championship honors with Rock On in the First Year Green Working Hunter Division. The dynamic duo swept the division earning the blue ribbon in all of the division classes topping out at 50 points.

Jennifer Burger also achieved her own success aboard her second mount, Rock Star, earning a first and third place ribbon in the 3’3 Amateur-Owner 35 & Over Hunter Division.

Serio picked up another championship, this time in the High Performance Hunter Division aboard Phillipa owned by Jennifer Burger. Serio and Phillipa earned four blue ribbons and a yellow ribbon throughout the division. They racked up an impressive 44 points to secure the championship title.

The talented professional was awarded the reserve championship honors with Merelax Farm, Inc.’s Cinemagic in the 3′ Pre-Green Hunter Division. Serio and Cinemagic earned two blue ribbons, a red ribbon, and two yellow ribbons throughout the division.

One of Serio’s talented students, Kristen Bowman, earned the reserve championship tricolor in the 14 & Under Children’s Hunter Division with her mount Noble Blue. Bowman and Noble Blue earned a second and two third place ribbons for their efforts throughout the division. Bowman was also successful aboard her other mount Rhinebeck. The duo earned second place honors in the T.H.I.S. National Children’s Medal. Bowman and Rhinebeck also took home third place ribbons in both the $1,000 NAL/WIHS/M&S Children’s Hunter Classic and the M&S Children’s Medal Horse.

Rider Devon Yacka achieved success with Furst Laugh. The team took home a blue ribbon in the MHSA Adult Amateur Medal and a yellow ribbon in the M&S Adult Medal.

Christina Serio took home top ribbons in the Performance Hunter 3’6 Division with All About Eve. Serio and All About Eve received a first and a second place ribbon for their efforts throughout the division. Serio also had a consistent effort with Navarre in the 1.25m Jumpers and Volumia in the 1.40m Welcome Stake.

Deer Hill Farm’s Black Tie was consistently earning top ribbons with Blair Balmer in the irons. The pair earned three, second place ribbons in the 3’3″ Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic as well as second and third place ribbons in the 3’3″ Amateur-Owner 35 & Over Hunter Division.

Kara Twing also earned top ribbons in the 3’3 Amateur-Owner 18-35 Hunter Division with her mount Fashion Week.

Jennifer Rowland earned multiple accolades in the Low Children/Adult Jumpers with Derbydown’s World Lady.

Junior rider Jane Maguire had a terrific week aboard her mount Fun & Games. They earned first place and fourth place in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunter Division. Maguire was also consistently earning top ribbons with Brooks Barnes’ Nickleback also in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunter Division.

Kathleen Fisher represented Derbydown in the Pony Divisions with Summerland owned by Nicole Emily Gorton. The duo earned first and second place ribbons for their efforts. Fisher also competed in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunter division aboard North Shore, taking home a second place ribbon and two third place ribbons.

Serio and Derbydown are currently showing at the Brandywine Valley Summer Series Horse Show.
