Kentucky Summer Series Promises Exciting Hunter Action with Two WCHR Weeks

Liza Boyd and Brunello win 2014 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals during Bluegrass Festival Horse Show.

Lexington, KY – June 25, 2015 – The Kentucky Horse Park is gearing up for a summer of premier competition at the 2015 Kentucky Summer Series. The series features four weeks of premier hunter/jumper events. Both the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, July 22-26, and the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show, August 11-16, are recognized by the World Champion Hunter Rider (WCHR) program. The prize list and entry forms are posted at www.kentuckyhorseshows.com.

The series will kick off with the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, the first WCHR recognized week, where riders can earn valuable points towards year-end awards. The show runs from July 22-26 and includes the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby sponsored by Hallway Feeds: one of the five-event Hallway Feeds series, which will provide $15,000 in Leading Rider Bonuses. The series will continue with the Kentucky Summer Classic held July 28 – August 2. The $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby will also return on Saturday, August 1.

The third show of the Kentucky Summer Series is the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show. Bluegrass Festival is also a WCHR week, with hunter highlights including the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship, which offered more than $180,000 in prize money in 2014. The event will be returning to Rolex Stadium during August 14-15. The USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Championship, August 11-13, which offered more than $186,000 in 2014, will be held in the Stonelea Ring. The show will also host the finale of the $5,000 USHJA Hallway Feeds National Hunter Derby Series, where the 2015 Leading Professional, Junior and Amateur riders will be announced as part of the $15,000 Leading Rider Awards.
