Toronto, Ontario – The Jump Canada Hall of Fame and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair have teamed up to present a very special evening, presented by BMO Financial Group, celebrating the first eight years of the Hall of Fame.  Events are planned in concert with the deciding round of the Canadian Show Jumping Championship on Saturday, November 2, promising an exciting and memorable evening.

The Jump Canada Hall of Fame is dedicated to enshrining the heroes of hunter/jumper sport, as well as to inspiring current and future competitors.  In total, 17 horses and ponies, 19 humans, five organizations, and three teams have been recognized since the Jump Canada Hall of Fame’s inception in 2006.  That number will increase by one as Doug Henry is officially inducted in the Builder (Individual) category this year.

Henry has been a staple of the Canadian equestrian community for years, devoting his life to hunter/jumper sport not only as a top rider and former member of the Canadian Equestrian Team, but also as a valued sponsor and innovator.  Through his popular Henry Equestrian Plan, also known as HEP, Henry has been able to support the equine community by providing leading insurance products specifically crafted to meet the varied and often complex needs of horse and farm owners.

His career has also given him the perfect platform to give back as a well-known competition sponsor.  HEP has been a regular sponsor at some of Canada’s largest show jumping tournaments, including the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, giving equal billing to grand prix and lower level competition alike.

“We look forward to a wonderful evening of memories, fellowship and first rate competition,” stated Hall of Fame Chairman, Mark Samuel.  “Past inductees have been invited to be recognized at the special induction ceremony and throughout the evening.  We are excited to partner with the Royal to showcase our sport and its heroes.”

The special induction ceremony for Henry, presented by BMO Financial Group, will be held on Saturday, November 2, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Royal Ballroom with cocktails and canapés.  It will be followed by a public presentation during the Canadian Show Jumping Championship at 9 p.m. in the Ricoh Coliseum.  The festivities will continue at 10:30 p.m. in the Tanbark Club.  Tickets for the Hall of Fame reception, including entry to the Tanbark Club, are available for $75 per person, or can be combined with the purchase of a box seat ticket to the Royal Horse Show for $135.  To purchase tickets, please call 416-263-3406 or email rsvp@royalfair.org.

In addition to this special induction ceremony, signs recognizing Henry as well as a select number of past inductees will be prominently displayed throughout the Ricoh Coliseum throughout the course of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.  A video montage celebrating Jump Canada Hall of Fame inductees will also be featured on the Ricoh Coliseum’s jumbotron.

The Jump Canada Hall of Fame committee is composed of Mark Samuel (Chairman), Jennifer Anstey, Evie Frisque, Muffie Guthrie, Dalene Paine, Jennifer Ward and Nancy Wetmore.
