SBS Farms Celebrates Phenomenal Year in 2011 and Prepares for 2012

Jennifer Alfano and Jersey Boy won the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby of Devon for the second year in a row. SBS Farms, Inc. looks forward to another successful 2012 year. Photo By: Jessica Nemzoff

Buffalo, NY – December 29, 2011 – SBS Farms, Inc. had a remarkable show season in 2011, taking home top honors at the most prestigious events in the nation. Trainer Susie Schoellkopf and professional rider Jennifer Alfano are now gearing up for the 2012 show season, where they will showcase both their skills and those of their students in the hunter and jumper rings.

The first stop for SBS Farms will be during the last week of the Jacksonville Winter Series, held at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs, FL. Alfano plans on showing Helen Lenahan’s Sting in the Derby at Jacksonville where he will make his comeback. Shortly after, SBS plans on making its mark in Ocala, competing in their Winter Series beginning in early February 2012. To end their winter calendar, Alfano plans on competing in the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at WEF.

If SBS Farms’ 2011 year is any indication of what 2012 holds, only success can be foreseen. Jersey Boy was recently awarded the USEF 2011 High Performance Working Hunter National Horse of the Year Award, ending with a total of 52,791 points accumulated during 16 competitions.

Pensacola and Jacksonville Winter Series

Just a few things….  For those planning to attend the Pensacola Series in January, the closing date is this Friday the 16th.  The importance of this closing date is the reduced price of stalls if paid in full by closing date.  So, this is just a reminder…. closing date is this Friday.  Read the prize list for details.

We also had a couple of corrections in the Pensacola prize list.  The 1.10m Children’s and Adult Jumper entry fee says $65 per class; it should have read $45.  The YJC classes are $50 for five year olds, $60 for six year olds and $70 for seven and eight year olds.

The Jacksonville closing date for entries is January 19th.

I do want to remind you that the Jacksonville, Pensacola and Gulfport are on our website. The prize list for Atlanta Spring will be out mid-January.

See you at the rings,

2012 Jacksonville Winter Series

We are excited to announce the 2012 Jacksonville Winter Series and are fortunate to have Bob Bell and the Classic Company returning to manage the three week circuit.  You will be pleased to see many familiar faces in the office, at the rings and on the tractors.  The prize list is complete and is available on both the NFHJA <http://www.nfhja.com/schedule.htm> and the Classic Company <http://www.classiccompany.com/showinfo.html> websites.  It will be in the mail at the end of the week.

There will be many notable changes in 2012 and we expect that you will be as excited about them as we are.  Jumper Exhibitors will be pleased to find that each of the three weeks will feature a $5,000 Welcome Class in addition to a $25,000 Grand Prix.  Hunter Exhibitors will be equally excited to find that each week also features a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Classic, in addition to the usual division classics.  The $5,000 Equitation Classic will be an additional highlight of week 2, and should be a distinctive complement to the circuit’s standard classes.  Week 3 will not be outdone with special class offerings, but the spotlight will likely be stolen by the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby.  We are delighted to be the host of this distinctive class for the second year in a row. Additional offerings of week 3 include the $5,000 Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic, $500 Circuit High Point Hunter & $500 Circuit High Point Jumper.  You might also take note that the World Cup Qualifier is missing this year; however, we strongly feel, and expect that you will agree, that this change will allow us to switch the focus back to our main exhibitors and provide a smooth schedule jam packed with special offerings and prize money galore!

Atlanta Fall Classic Highlights

We had a great week in Conyers.  The weather got a little chilly a few mornings but warmed up perfect for showing.

This week we hosted the annual Barry Lane Memorial Children’s Adult Jumper Classic.  As we have for the past eight years we offered $25,000, but because of all the hoops the jumper committees want us to jump through for permission to offer such a class (and we were told not to ask again until we offered more money to the Jr AOs or the Open horses), we ran two classes, a $10,000 and a $15,000 class.  They were a great success.  We had 59 compete for the big bucks.  One class held on Saturday under the lights in the Olympic stadium and one on Sunday before the Grand Prix.

The winner of the first class was Little Tom and Patricia Hennessy trained by Chris Kappler.

2012 Jacksonville Winter Series

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2012 Jacksonville Winter Series. There are many notable changes this year and we expect that you will be as excited about them as we are. The Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization that helps injured service members, will be the beneficiary of Week 2. We are thrilled to partner up with such a worthy cause. Tryon Fall Classic and Other Classic Co. Updates

Just some updates and reminders.  The 21st Annual Tryon Fall Classic is three weeks away at Harmond Field, Sept. 23-25.  The highlight of the show will again be the Tri State Age Group Equitation Finals.  The top ten riders from the NCHJA, SCHJA and GHJA in 11 and Under, 12-14 and 15-17 will compete for a silver trophy for each age group.  A list of qualified riders is on our website home page at www.ClassicCompany.com and invitations have been mailed.  If you think you have qualified and are not on the list, please call Tissy at our home office.  By moving the show from FENCE, we have reduced the costs of production and we have lowered the stall and entry fees from last year.  We have also added several opportunity classes that do not require membership to either USEF or USHJA to compete.  For those of you who have not competed at Harmond Field, you will be very impressed by the stabling and footing in the show rings.  Carol and I are looking forward to seeing you at our annual event.  Please call our office for reservations: 843 768 5503.

The Atlanta Fall Classic I & II, Nov. 9-20, will have many new classes this year along with the annual finals for NCE and NHJL.  Qualified riders for NCE will be posted soon on our website.

We are well into the planning for the winter shows: Jacksonville Jan. 11-29, Pensacola Jan. 11-29.  Both circuits will offer USEF AA rated hunters and $25,000 Grand Prix classes each week.  More details on both will be available soon.
