Ocala, FL (February 21, 2011) – Television crews and cameras descended on the rolling hills of Live Oak Stud in Ocala recently, to not only film a show about the farms success in the race horse world but to also interview Combined Driver Chester Weber and capture footage of his famous equine teammate Jamaica. While the show will chronicle the success of Weber’s mother, Charlotte Weber, the owner of Live Oak Stud who has solely guided the 4,500-acre Thoroughbred farm for the last four decades, it will also touch on Weber and his achievements in the combined driving world.

Raised on the family’s Thoroughbred operation, Live Oak Stud, Weber dreamed of being a jockey when he was young. At 6’2” he physically outgrew that possibility, so Weber turned his heart and his attention to driving. Weber soon discovered that driving brought out his competitive nature and he fell in love with the speed and challenge of combined driving.

Considered a force to be reckoned with in the Combined Driving world, Weber is the eight-time USEF National Four-In-Hand Driving Champion. He has competed in three World Equestrian Games, was the first American to win the prestigious German Fahrderby at Riesenbeck and he also accomplished what no other American had done before when he won the Individual Silver Medal at the 2008 World Driving Championships.

While Weber’s combined driving resume is long and accomplished, as a driver he also stands out for his passion for educating the public about his sport and his dedication to serve on the governing bodies of the USEF and the USET Foundation.

“It feels great to get added exposure for the sport, so I am thrilled that HRTV did a segment on combined driving while they were at Live Oak,” Weber said, adding that while being interviewed he gave an introduction to the sport and explained what it is all about. “Combined Driving is my passion and I am always pleased to promote it.”

Weber wasn’t the only Team Weber member to appear on film, as Jamaica, his teammate and 2008 USEF Horse of the Year, was also featured on the HRTV show. “Jamaica captured the nation’s attention in 2008 when he won the USEF Horse of the Year title and people learned that he was rescued from a slaughterhouse,” Weber said. “Jamaica still has fans that travel to see him and he has become a poster child for horse rescue and adoption, which really pleases me. Jamaica is a quirky horse, and always will be, but we have a strong bond and I feel lucky to have been part of his life.”

Jamaica competed in the 2002 and 2006 World Equestrian Games with Weber and helped the celebrated driver win his first seven USEF Four-In-Hand National Championship titles. “In addition to shooting a segment on Jamaica, Michael Freund, the new US Driving Team Coach, appeared on the show. It will be great exposure for combined driving and, of course, I am pleased that they also recognized my mom and all of her success she has had over the years.”

Weber said that he feels blessed to have grown up at Live Oak. “Without a doubt I have access to one of the best training facilities around,” he said. “Most importantly, horses seem to thrive at Live Oak.”
