$1,000 Virginia Horse Center Hunter Classic THIS WEEKEND!

Hunter Classic, Costume Class and Two Days of Jumpers All at House Mountain Horse Show

Lexington, VA – October 6, 2014 – Hunter competitors could be riding away from this weekend’s House Mountain Horse Show at the Virginia Horse Center with more than just a beautiful ribbon and a positive show experience. For the first time, the Virginia Horse Center (VHC) is pleased to present the $1,000 VHC Hunter Classic.

During the popular two-day hunter/jumper horse show, to be held Oct. 11-12, the top five scoring entries in each of the following divisions will be invited to compete in the final, classic round: the Green Working Hunters, the Low Hunters, the Working Hunters, the Children’s Hunters and the Adult Hunters.

Riders have just two more days to enter for their chance to vie for the prize money and to register for any of the hunter divisions offered at the House Mountain Horse Show. Division entries are due by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, and can be faxed to (540) 464-2999.

The second over fences class of each division will count as the first round of the VHC Hunter Classic, and horses must be entered in the Hunter Classic prior to completing this round.

With five horses coming from each of the five divisions, the top 25 horses will compete under the lights Saturday at 7 p.m. in the exciting culmination of the Classic, scored by respected judges Teddi Harpman and E. Sue Bopp.

Preceding the $1,000 Virginia Horse Center Hunter Classic will be the always popular and crowd pleasing Costume Class. The annual pre-Halloween event is just one highlight of the two days of horse showing.

Come out to the Virginia Horse Center and watch jumpers compete daily in the Wiley Arena beginning at 8:30 a.m. and hunter and equitation horses and riders ride both days in the Waldron and Fletcher Arenas beginning at 8 a.m.
