Week Nine of The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour Kicks Off Wednesday at Tonkawa Farms

Wellington, FL – March 2, 2015 – Week nine of The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour will kick off this Wednesday at Tonkawa Farms, offering easy riding distance adjacent from the showgrounds. This week’s events will take place on Wednesday, March 4 and Friday, March 6. In addition to the ever-popular 1.30-1.35m classes, Wednesday will offer Low and Medium Schooling Jumpers, as well as the YJC qualifying Young Jumper classes for 5, 6, and 7 Year Old Young Jumpers. Friday will see the Grand Prix running all day in the main ring, and Low and Medium schooling jumpers running in the second ring.

Wednesday will have just under $5,000 in prize money up for grabs in the 1.30-1.35m jumpers, with two classes running concurrently. The Young Jumpers series returns to the field on Wednesday with the 5 Year Old Jumpers, 5 Year Old YJC Qualifying Class, the 6 Year Old Jumper, the $500 6 Year Old YJC Qualifying Class, the 7 and 8 Year Old Jumpers and the $2,000 7 Year Old YJC Qualifying Class.

This Friday, exhibitors can look forward to the $15,000 Ridge at Wellington 1.40m Turf Tour Grand Prix, which Conor Swail of Ireland dominated during Week 8 of competition.

Exhibitors have all complimented the management, hospitality and courses offered at The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour. Each week the courses have tested both horse and rider alike, asking technical questions with tracks created by renowned designers Eric Hasbrouck and Nick Granat.

The Tour is a unique series designed to develop upcoming talent in both horses and riders and provide a change in venue for all riders. The series offers unrivaled hospitality with a relaxed atmosphere as a fresh experience. On Wednesday, the fields at Tonkawa will see horses and riders competing in 1.30-1.35m jumpers with an open card running from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. The second ring will see low jumpers and the 5 Year Old Jumpers divisions from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and medium schooling jumpers and 6 Year Old Jumpers from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m. the 7 Year Old Jumpers will have their time on the turf. Each division has two classes running concurrently with open cards.

Friday’s events promise to be exciting, with the $15,000 1.40m Grand Prix running from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Beginning at 8 a.m., the second ring will have low schooling jumpers, with two classes running simultaneously with open cards until noon. Medium schooling jumpers will kick off at 11 a.m. with two classes running with open cards and will run until 1:30 p.m.

The event is approaching quickly, so riders should get their entries in to avoid post-entry fees. Week nine of the Ridge at Wellington’s Turf Tour will take place at Tonkawa Farms, 4150 South Road in Wellington, FL 33414. From Pierson Rd. or Lake Worth Rd, head South on South Shore Blvd. Make a right on 50th Street, and then a right on South Road. The entrance to the farm is on the right.

Meadowbrook Horse Transport will provide transportation to and from the horse show and other locations throughout Wellington for both the Wednesday and Friday events. The Ridge at Wellington Horse Show Series Fast Facts

Events:
The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour offers their popular 1.40m Invitational Grand Prix for its third year, with an open in gate format taking place once a week at beautiful venues throughout Wellington. The Ridge at Wellington Grand Prix Finale will take place March 27, 2015.

The Turf Tour also will host 1.30m-1.35m Jumpers every Wednesday beginning January 7, 2015 and running until March 18, 2015.

Young Jumper Classes and both Children’s/Senior Jumper Classics will find their home intermittently throughout the Wellington Turf Tour, running concurrently with the 1.30-1.35m and 1.40m Jumpers.

The Ridge at Wellington offers Equitation Shows every Tuesday of the month from January 6 – March 23, 2015. There will also be a series of schooling shows at the Ridge at Wellington for all experience levels.

Two USHJA International Hunter Derbies will take place February 6, 2015 and March 20, 2015.

What:
The Ridge at Wellington series includes several weeks of competition throughout the Winter Season with USEF Rated Equitation Shows. This winter will also feature five two-day schooling shows. The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour will offer 1.30m-1.35m Jumpers, 1.40m Invitational Grand Prix, Young Jumpers, Children’s/Adult Classics, Masters Jumpers, Junior/Amateur Classics, two hunter derbies and the Pre-Green Incentive Stake.
