Named Independence Slew, owner Penny Morrell feels she has all of the makings of a great racing prospect. Seattle Slew won 14 Races with earnings of $1,208.726. He was also the only undefeated Triple Crown Winner and is the sire of more than 100 stakes winners. Smile won over 1.6 million and won the Grade 3 Fairmount Park Derby setting a new track record for 9 furlongs. He had 14 wins. Smarty Jones is out of one of Smile’s daughters. He won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Smile’s sire is “In Reality” he remains one of the only male lines of Man of War. “She has it all; I can’t wait to see where she will go,” states Morrell.
New Swan Farm has several other horses beginning their racing careers, including Teton Motel, who has already won three races. Others include NOTIONAL VELVET, a colt out of a New Swan Farm mare of Penny’s PROUD PIONEER who is a SECRETARIAT mare and was bred to Spendthrift’s Stallion NOTIONAL. He will be going to Ocala to be trained this fall. Another prospect of New Swan Farm is SHADDEN, a colt out of a son of DANZIG and a New Swan Farm mare out of WELL DECORATED. He will be going to Kentucky to be trained this winter. New Swan Farm is starting to make some news in the horse racing industry and who knows, Independence Slew might one day find herself and her owner in the winner circle of the biggest races in the world.
