Jacksonville, FL – September 6, 2012 – With only two weeks until the long-anticipated Southeast Medal Finals, competitors are preparing for the prestigious three-day show with the top medal honors set firmly in sight. An All-Star list of officials has been hand-picked for this esteemed event, and the weekend promises nothing short of the highest level of competition, thrilling course designs, as well as fun.

This September 21-23, 2012 at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center the Southeast Medal Finals will get underway. The show is patterned after the successful and long-standing New England Medal Finals, giving riders in Zone 4 and Region 3, a chance to compete for the top honors in an array of classes. The Indoor show will feature hunter, jumper and equitation classes over the period of three days, with highlight classes that are sure to catch the exhibitors’ attention, including the ASPCA Maclay Region 3 Regionals.

One of the main attractions for the hunter riders will be the 2012 USHJA Zone 4 Championships. The Championships are open to children, adult and pony competitors. The competition will be fierce as the top 25 horses or ponies in the USEF Zone 4 Standings vie for the prestigious championship title. Riders will have a chance to gain bonus zone points for their efforts in the Zone 4 Championship Stake.

The 2012 USHJA Zone 4 Championships will consist of the Children’s 14 & Under Hunters, Children’s 15-17 Hunters, Adult 18-35 Hunters, Adult 36 & Over Hunters, and the Children’s Hunter Pony divisions. Medals will be awarded to first through third in all of the stake classes, with riders earning ribbons for their efforts in all other classes of the division.

Hunter riders will also have the opportunity to compete in the Southeast Wide Open Hunter class, where children and adult will go neck to neck for the prestigious first place prize. The children and adults will maneuver a course set at 3′, while the child and pony combinations will have the opportunity to compete over obstacles set at 2’6″. For those looking for some more experience in the saddle, or just a good time, the Southeast Medal Finals will offer the 2’6″ Hunters and Equitation, divisions for both children and adults. No qualifications will be necessary for these classes; however, it will only include the first 25 entries.

One of the most exciting features of the Southeast Medal Finals is the 2012 Zone 4 $10,000 Children’s Jumper Championship and the $10,000 Adult Jumper Championship. The class consists of three rounds to occur on Friday, September 21, and Saturday, September 22, 2012. The class is open to the top 25 horses in the 1.10m USEF ranking list for Zone 4. Riders will have to navigate three challenging courses, set with obstacles between 1.10m and 1.15m for both the children and adult, with the top three receiving medals, and the remaining nine who placed receiving ribbons for their efforts. On Sunday, September 23, riders will once again be able to compete in the jumper ring as the children and adults take their turn against the clock in the Children’s/Adult Jumper Constellation Class.

Kip Rosenthal, John Roper and Brian Lenehan will take their positions as judges for the equitation and hunter classes. The jumper judges include Allen Rheinheimer and Fred Brown. Rheinheimer will also double over as the jumper course designer, with Joe Carnicom creating the picturesque hunter and equitation tracks.

Not only should contenders look forward to a jam-packed schedule of classes, but also the social schedule will feature the finest Southern hospitality Jacksonville has to offer. The Southeast Equitation Championship Welcome Party will take place Friday evening, while the Southeast Equitation Championship Champions party will follow Saturday evening. Sunday morning will welcome competitors to the Southeast Equitation Championship Breakfast. Along with a list of wonderful amenities and scheduled events, the Southeast Medal Finals also offers a limited number of VIP tables, which are available by reservation only and will be complete with food and beverage service throughout the event.

The Southeast Medal Finals is a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.  A silent auction will be held to benefit this worthy cause, complete with a guest speaker from the WWP.

This show will be nothing short of the best with the utmost in pomp and circumstance, prizes and parties!  We feel certain you will want to make it a part of your show schedule this year and for many years to come.
