Devon, PA (October 7, 2016) — Take one iconic Dressage at Devon horseshow, stir in two high-performance dressage riders, fold in a worthy cause, and you have the perfect recipe for success with The Dressage Federation Two-Tempi Challenge presented by the Horse of Course

Dressage at Devon’s Dixon Oval set the stage for The Dressage Foundation’s Two-Tempi Challenge presented by The Horse of Course on September 30. The Two-Tempi Challenge is a year-long event that supports The Dressage Foundation’s mission of advancing the sport of dressage in the United States. Riders are sponsored to compete at events like Dressage at Devon, or through online video submissions, to see how many two-tempis they can perform. They pledge a dollar amount for each two-tempi and donate proceeds to The Dressage Foundation.

Riders Allison Kavey and Ellie Rawle stepped up for the challenge at Dressage at Devon. Kavey, from Rivendell Dressage in Millbrook, New York, competed on QueBa HM, a Lusitano stallion owned by Andrea Woodner. Rawle, of Watermark Farm in Oxford, Pennsylvania, rode Wakanda WF, an 11-year-old American Warmblood mare owned by Anne M. Rawle. When the dust settled, Kavey was the victor with 45 consecutive two-tempi changes.

“QueBa and I managed 45 twos, and we had a terrific time doing it,” Kavey said. “The Dixon Oval is gorgeous at night, and it was a treat to be there for such a great cause. According to The Dressage Foundation’s website, QueBa and I are third in the country with our 45 twos and first for Region 8!”

Rawle was a last-minute addition to the Two-Tempi Challenge and was thrilled to participate. “It was on my bucket list for the year,” she said. “Now that I understand what the procedure is, I am confident that I would love to be a part of the Two-Tempi Challenge in the future! I love changes and so do my horses!”

The Two-Tempi Challenge, presented by The Horse of Course, is a regional and national competition to raise funds for The Dressage Foundation. Each rider works with an individual, GMO, stable, or group of dressage friends willing to make a pledge for each two-tempi change performed. All donations are used to support the Foundation’s programs, grants, and scholarships.

“Thanks to everyone who pledged and stayed to watch in the chilly fall weather!” Kavey said. “I’m grateful also to Beth and Marty Haist of The Horse of Course for sponsoring this terrific event.”
