Wellington, FL (December 13, 2016) — Todd Minikus set the stage for the fast-approaching 2017 Winter Equestrian Festival with three top mounts this past week in the 2016 ESP Holiday Circuit at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida. Minikus claimed first and second places in the $10,000 #1 Education Place Stakes with Vita 24 and I Am Nala, respectively. He then took first, fifth, and sixth places with I Am Nala, Zephyr, and Vita 24, respectively, in the $25,000 #1 Education Place Grand Prix.

With these top placings and equally impressive scores at the Holiday Circuit the week prior, Minikus feels prepared for the winter show season to officially kick off. At the circuit’s Holiday & Horses show earlier this month, Minikus guided Coverboy, a KWPN gelding owned by The Coverboy Group, to first and second place in two different 1.40m classes. Not to be out-shown, Zephyr, a KWPN gelding owned by Wyndmont Inc., helped Minikus to first place in a 1.40m class ahead of 50 entries, and then placed in the top ten in the $25,000 Omega Alpha Grand Prix. Both Coverboy and Zephyr are new mounts for Minikus, but already demonstrate a strong partnership with the veteran rider.

Zephyr and Coverboy have joined an experienced string of elite horses, including I Am Nala, Vita 24, and Babalou 41, all owned by Two Swans Farm. Also factoring into Minikus’ line-up is Valinski S, a Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Wyndmont Inc., who competed with Australian rider Matt Williams in the Individual Final at the 2016 Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Minikus is excited to focus on these new talents for 2017, stating, “We have some younger horses that we are going to spend some time developing this year. Ronnie Beard and Michael Dorman of Wyndmont Inc. have asked me to show some of their horses this year, and we have had a good start. Hopefully it will be an exciting year.”

Minikus is based in Wellington, Florida, just minutes away from the Winter Equestrian Festival and Holiday Circuit at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The Winter Equestrian Festival is set to begin on January 11, 2017, and is annually the largest and longest-running hunter/jumper show circuit in the world.

Last year, Grand Prix jumper Minikus started his 2016 winter competition season with back-to-back victories in consecutive Saturday Night Lights Grand Prixs with well-known mounts Quality Girl, owned by The Quality Group, and Babalou 41.

When not competing nationally and internationally, Todd Minikus offers sales and training services just minutes from Wellington, Florida’s Winter Equestrian Festival show grounds. Follow the action from Team Minikus on Facebook and Instagram @Todd_Minikus, or visit www.ToddMinikusShowJumping.com.
