Wellington, FL – June 14, 2010 – Dressage rider Todd Flettrich will depart for Europe the week of June 14, 2010, to compete in international competition with his Grand Prix mount Otto, a 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Rambo X Rampal), owned by Cherry Knoll Farm. Flettrich plans to begin his trip competing in Fritzen, Austria, and will then head to the Falsterbo Horse Show CDI 5* in Sweden on July 8-11, 2010.  Flettrich will then show at The World Equestrian Festival at CHIO Aachen on July 9-18, 2010.

CHIO Aachen is the “Official International Equestrian Tournament of the Federal Republic of Germany” and the #1 ranked horse show in the world. It is a huge honor for Flettrich and Otto to be invited to compete amongst many of the world’s greatest horses and riders at this illustrious event. Flettrich will use the opportunity to gain exposure on the world stage and experience championship competition on the international level as he prepares for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG).

Based in Coatesville, PA, and Wellington, FL, Flettrich has had a fantastic season with Otto. The pair has earned several top placings throughout the country and is qualified to compete in the Selection Trials for the World Equestrian Games in August. The Trials will determine who rides on the U.S. Dressage Team in Lexington, KY, this fall, and Flettrich has worked with many top trainers this year as he prepares for one of the biggest competitions of his career. A well known Olympian and highly regarded trainer, Hubertus Schmidt will coach Flettrich throughout his European tour this summer.

“I think that it will be a great experience to compete at these big international shows with the large crowds and the fantastic competition,” Flettrich stated. “The way I see it, it is an honor to even be at Aachen, so I would really like to do well. I think that Otto is going very well right now. I just need to be able to have a mistake free test and I need to take what I do at home and bring that out in the show ring. Hopefully I will do well, but no matter what happens, it is one more experience under my belt and I just feel privileged to even have the opportunity.”

Flettrich will stay in Germany through the conclusion of CHIO Aachen on Sunday, July 18, and will then return to the States to prepare for the 2010 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions. The competition will return to the USET Foundation Headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey, for two consecutive weekends of extraordinary competition, August 6-8 and 13-15, 2010. This competition will serve as the Grand Prix Dressage Selection Trials for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.

Todd Flettrich is based in Wellington, FL, has earned his USDF Silver and Gold Medals, and is a graduate of the USDF ‘L’ Judge Program. Flettrich competed at the North American Young Riders Championships (NAYRC) four times and won the Individual Gold Medal and Team Silver in 1991. Flettrich served as Region 1 Coach and Chef d’Equipe at NAYRC from 1988 through 1994. His student Catherine Malone won the Individual Gold in 2005.
