Take Care of Your Horse and Ride in Style with Horse Rugs

When saddling up, it is very important for any rider to make sure their horse is properly taken care of. An experienced rider is going to speak of the importance of a quality horse rug. This rug is more than just for looking good though. The rug helps take care of the horse and avoid injury while riding as well. So, whether someone is readying up for a ride or they are just covering the horse due to cold weather, these items are extremely important to invest in, regardless of how someone rides or what they ride for.

Mark Todd rugs, along with other brands, can provide desirable benefits for any rider. There are different styles of horse rugs, depending on what the rider is in need of. First, a small horse rug can be used under the saddle of the rider. The saddle should never go directly onto the horse. Should the saddle go on the horse, the movement of the rider on the saddle and the saddle against the skin of the horse is going to cause friction, which in the end is going to wear down, tear and scrape the hide of the horse. This can leave anything from sore spots to rips in the skin, all of which are extremely painful to the horse. In order to avoid this sort of a situation, a rider is able to place the horse rug on the back of the horse first, followed by the saddle. When done and attached properly it is possible to secure the rug and saddle in place, so even if the saddle moves slightly, it is not going to move directly against the skin, so the horse is able to ride pain free.

There are other times where the horse rug needs to completely protect the horse from external elements. These rugs cover the body of the horse and, depending on the style, can also offer configurations that cover the neck and face, leaving openings for the nose, mouth and eyes. This style of horse rug is famous in Renaissance Festival jousting, which is where two armoured nights ride on horseback at one another, each holding a long jousting pole and shield. The horses are usually decked out in elaborate horse rugs where a majority of the body is covered. While this is done for show, there are other purposes for a horse to wear such clothing. Usually, this is done in order to prevent the horse from becoming cold. Mark Todd rugs and other brands provide this sort of rug so a rider can cover the horse after a race. The horse is going to sweat, just like any other animal without fur, which cools them down. However, if it is cold outside, the horse can become sick due to the drop in their temperature. The horse rug is there to help the horse maintain its internal body temperature and stay comfortable (similar to the robes a boxer wears after a fight), as they can become cold quickly due to the sweat and cold temperature.

Taking care of a horse is very important, and while there are different tools and items required to do this, a horse rug is one such item any horse owner needs to invest in. Products such as Mark Todd rugs and other companies offer up horse rugs that protect the horse while riding from the saddle chaffing, in addition to items that can protect the horse from the cold either due to the temperature or after a race. Regardless though, these products are important and should be invested in good quality products, offered by a renowned company like Robinsons. This ensures a better protection for your equine.
