Flaming Star and Charlie Jacobs Top $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 4

Wellington, FL – January 31, 2013 – Week four of the2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) continued on Thursday with a win for Charlie Jacobs and CMJ Sporthorse, LLC’s Flaming Star in the $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 4. In a 23-horse jump-off, Jacobs and Flaming Star topped an all-star field with second place honors going to Conor Swail (IRL) riding Lansdowne and third place awarded to Brianne Goutal (USA) aboard Nice de Prissey.

Week four of the FTI WEF, sponsored by Fidelity Investments, will continue through February 3. The week will feature the $100,000 Fidelity Investments CSI 2* Grand Prix on Saturday evening and the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Championship Jumper Classic on Sunday afternoon. The 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival features 12 weeks of competition running from January 9 – March 31, 2013, and will be awarding almost $7 million in prize money throughout the circuit.

Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela set the course for an impressive field of 81 starters in Thursday afternoon’s $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 4. A total of 24 entries jumped clear in the first round to advance to the jump-off, and 23 of those returned to jump the short course. Out of 23, ten jumped double clear, and the times got faster and faster as the race for the top prize progressed. The final three competitors earned the top three spots.

Nick Skelton and Heracross Triumph in $8,000 G&C Farm 1.45m Jumpers

Wellington, FL – January 30, 2013 – The fourth week of competition at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) began on Wednesday, January 30, with a win for Olympic gold medalist Nick Skelton (GBR) and his mount Heracross in the $8,000 G&C Farm 1.45m speed class.

Week four, sponsored by Fidelity Investments, will run January 30 – February 3. The week will feature the $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 4 on Thursday afternoon, the $100,000 Fidelity Investments CSI 2* Grand Prix on Saturday evening, and the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Championship Jumper Classic on Sunday afternoon. The 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival features 12 weeks of competition running from January 9 – March 31, 2013, and will be awarding almost $7 million in prize money throughout the circuit.

Nick Skelton earned his first victory of the 2013 winter circuit in Wednesday’s $8,000 G&C Farm 1.45m class jumping a speed track set by Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios (VEN). Twenty-four entries started the class and 15 completed the course without fault. The fastest time of 58.655 seconds laid down by Skelton and Heracross earned top honors.

Amateur-Owner Hunter Championship Goes to Katie Robinson and Rock Steady at WEF III

East Aurora, NY and Wellington, FL – January 29, 2013 – Katie Robinson of Deeridge Farms secured a championship tricolor this weekend in the Amateur-Owner 35 & Over Hunter division at the 2013 Winter Equestrian Festival. This marked the first week of competition for the veteran duo at the prestigious event, proving that once again they are in top form for the upcoming season.

Robinson and Rock Steady had solid performances throughout the weekend, leading up to their victory in the Rost Arena yesterday. The course’s solid oxers and flowing lines gave Rock Steady plenty of room to show off his strengths. The pair won the handy round and placed first and second over fences to claim the championship honor.

“He always makes it fun,” said Robinson. “He’s really consistent and I can always count on him. He really shines in the handy classes, and I am very happy to have such a successful start to the season.”

Abigail McArdle Wins More Money from SSG Riding Gloves

January 27, 2013 – Wellington, Florida – Abigail McArdle, a multi-winner in the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion, added another $1,000 to her bonus money account with a win in Saturday’s $15,000 SJHOF High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic during week three of the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.

Eight members of the 35-horse starting field posted a clear effort over the first round course to qualify for the jump-off.  In a blazing fast time of 32.79 seconds, McArdle knocked almost four full seconds off of the time posted by Michelle Navarro-Grau, who had stopped the timers in 36.71 seconds riding Alfi, to take the win.  In addition, McArdle won a $1,000 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style gloves on her way to victory.

McArdle of Barrington, IL, has now won a total of $8,000 in the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion.  Having claimed a $2,000 bonus during the final week of the Winter Equestrian Festival last year, McArdle then traveled to Lexington where she again won $2,000 during the first two weeks of competition at the Kentucky Horse Shows.  At the Alltech National Horse Show in November, she made a clean sweep of the Junior division, taking home $3,000 in bonus money.

Wellington, FL – January 27, 2013 – Week three of the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) concluded with an exciting $50,000 CSI 2* Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon held on the grass derby field at The Stadium at The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC). The class saw a win for U.S. rider Brianne Goutal and Remarkable Farms LP’s Onira in a four-horse jump-off. Todd Minikus (USA) and Macoemba finished second, Laura Kraut (USA) and A. Lebon’s Jubilee d’Ouilly were third, and Luis Larrazabal (VEN) aboard Anabel Simon’s G&C Sacramento placed fourth.

Uliano Vezzani of Italy was the course designer for week three’s international show jumping competition in Wellington. In Sunday’s $50,000 CSI 2* Grand Prix, Vezzani set the track on the beautiful grass field for 46 competitors and only four were able to clear the course without fault. The bogey fence, a tall wavy-plank vertical off of a tight left-hand turn came down for the majority of competitors, but there were many other rails around the course as well.

Wellington, FL – January 26, 2013 – Riders Darragh Kenny, Catherine Pasmore, and Meg O’Mara were the winning team of the fourth annual FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments (FTI GCC) on behalf of their charity JDRF (the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) on Saturday evening at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF). Sponsored by Jessie Pasmore and Martha Jolicoeur and corporate sponsor Stone Hill Farm, the three riders made up the top team of the night over 33 other pro-am teams representing Palm Beach County charities.

A signature event of the twelve-week FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival, this year’s FTI GCC will distribute approximately $1.5 million to the 34 lucky Palm Beach County charities that were chosen at random to be represented in the pro-am team relay competition. Each team was made up of junior and amateur riders competing side by side with top professionals.

Wellington, FL – January 25, 2013 – Twenty-one -year-old Alise Oken and Hi Hopes Farm, LLC’s Teirra kicked off Friday’s competition at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival with a win in the $2,500 RCG Farm High Amateur-Owner Jumper Power and Speed class in the International Arena at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC).

Week three of the FTI WEF runs January 23-27. The week will feature the FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge (FTI GCC), presented by Fidelity Investments, at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening. This year, the event will distribute $1.5 million to 34 lucky Palm Beach County charities in a pro-am team competition.

Other highlights will include the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Championship Jumper Classic at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The grass derby field at The Stadium at PBIEC will host the $50,000 CSI 2* Grand Prix, weather permitting, at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The 2013 FTI WEF circuit continues through March 31 featuring 12 weeks of world-class competition.

Wellington, FL – January 24, 2013 – Renowned show jumper Katie Monahan-Prudent guided Michael Smith’s V to victory in Thursday’s $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 3 during the third week of competition at the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF). Competing in the International Arena at the beautiful Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), the seasoned veteran topped young U.S. competitors Kristen Vanderveen (23) aboard Bull Run’s Eternal and Lauren Tibso aboard Tequestrian Farms’ Roundthorn Madios (28) who finished second and third respectively.

Wellington, FL – January 23, 2013 – Be a part of Olympic Gold Medalist Nick Skelton’s newly added team for the FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments (FTI GCC) on Saturday, January 26, 2013. This is a chance to ride in an historic event with the highest purse in show jumping. Two amateurs or juniors have the opportunity to join in the spirit of giving and compete on behalf of one of 34 Palm Beach County charities to win part of $1.5 million dollars. Two spots are open on Nick Skelton’s team – one rider to compete at the 1.10m level and a second rider to compete at the 1.20m level in a relay race on Saturday evening.

Frances Land and Lillie Keenan Land SSG Riding Gloves Bonus Money

January 20, 2013 – Wellington, Florida – With two horses in the jump-off, Lillie Keenan doubled her chances of taking home the $1,000 bonus offered by SSG Riding Gloves for winning the $10,000 Griffis Group High Junior Jumper Classic on Sunday, January 20, at 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.

Keenan, 16, of New York, NY, qualified both Londinium and Pumped Up Kicks for the five-horse jump-off.  It was her first ride, Londinium, that posted the winning time of 41.29 seconds to take the win as well as a $1,000 bonus for wearing SSG ‘Digital’ style gloves.

“I really love it!” smiled Keenan in reference to the SSG Riding Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion.  “I think it is extra special.  I wear the gloves in all of my classes, so to be paid to wear them is pretty nice.”

As to how she would spend her $1,000 bonus, Keenan said, “I have a feeling I will spend the money on my horses, getting them everything they need.  I love to pamper my horses.”
