Lausanne (SUI), 29 November 2012 – The Swedish Equestrian Federation celebrated its 100 birthday at a glittering party in Stockholm last night. The gala evening was held in the City Hall, the venue that will host the Nobel Peace Prize dinner next month.

HM Queen Silvia was the guest of honour at last night’s celebrations, along with London 2012 Olympic silver medallist Sara Algotsson Ostholt, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, who headed the Rolex Rankings from 31 December 2011 to 30 September 2012, and Endurance rider Maria Hagman-Eriksson, the first Swedish rider to lead an FEI ranking list when she became World Number One on the Meydan Open Riders World Rankings in September 2011. The FEI was represented by Bureau member Hanfried Haring and Secretary General Ingmar De Vos.

The Swedish Equestrian Awards Gala was incorporated into the centenary celebrations and HM Majesty Queen Silvia presented the honorary lifetime achievement award to Official International Judge and Honorary FEI Bureau Member Eric Lette. Ulf Rosengren, organiser of the FEI World Equestrian Games 1990 and the Stockholm Horse Show the 2012 edition of which kicks off today, was honoured as the organiser of the century.
