US Off to a Determined Start at CDIO3* Hickstead

Hickstead, United Kingdom – The U.S. produced determined performances in Grand Prix competition on Thursday at CDIO3* Hickstead. Brian Hafner and Susie Dutta, who make up half of the American Nations Cup effort, currently stand second and ninth, respectively, after the first of two days of Grand Prix competition.

Hafner (Penngrove, Calif.) and his own and Rebecca Hafner’s 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding, Lombardo LHF, scored 68.800% from the Ground Jury of Karin Kruger, Wojtek Markowski, Stephen Clarke, Susanne Baarup, and Peter Engel.

Dutta (Wellington, Fla.) produced a score of 65.620% with Tim Dutta Inc.’s 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Currency DC, as the first U.S. rider down centerline. She will ride Tim Dutta’s Lumberjack 12 in the Intermediaire I Test on Friday.

Nations Cup competition continues Friday with the second half of Grand Prix competitors completing their tests. U.S. riders Katherine Bateson-Chandler and Lisa Wilcox will ride at 3:55pm and 5:27pm CEST, respectively. Final results for Nations Cup competition will be determined on Saturday following the FEI Grand Prix Special, as overall team scores will be calculated by the top three scores in Grand Prix being weighted equally with the top three scores from the Special.

US Finishes Seventh in FEI Nations Cup at CDIO5* Rotterdam

Rotterdam, The Netherlands – The United States produced a seventh-place finish in FEI Nations Cup competition on Thursday among a top-class field at the CDIO5* Rotterdam. The team of Susie Dutta, Catherina Haddad-Staller, and Brian Hafner performed the FEI Grand Prix Test to finish on an overall total of 203.420.

Leading off for the U.S. was Dutta (Wellington, Fla.), with Tim Dutta Inc.’s 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding Currency DC, posting a score of 66.400%. Haddad-Staller (Wellington, Fla.) rode in the second spot for the Americans, scoring a 67.960% with her own 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding Mane Stream Hotmail. Riding in the anchor position for the United States was Hafner (Penngrove, Calif.), who produced the team’s highest score, a 69.020%, with his and Rebecca Hafner’s 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding Lombardo LHF.

The Dutch proved to be popular winners on their home turf, finishing on a score of 239.220, followed by Denmark in second place with a score of 209.781, with Sweden rounding out the podium placings in third in a total of 209.181.

In CDI-U25 competition Mackinzie Pooley piloted Leslie Pooley’s 17-year-old KWPN gelding Partous to a sixth-place finish in the FEI Intermediaire II Test with a score of 66.053%.
