Lausanne (SUI), 10 March 2016 – Reem Acra, the internationally renowned fashion designer, has extended her partnership with the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Western European league and series Final for a further three-year term through to 2019.

Reem Acra signed an initial three-year agreement for the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Western European league in 2010, renewing for a further three-year term in 2013. The new agreement extends the partnership term to nine years.

The official signing ceremony for the new agreement, which starts with the new 2016/2017 season, took place backstage at the Reem Acra Fall 2016 ready-to-wear runway show during last month’s New York Fashion Week.

The celebrity designer, who has dressed some of the world’s most famous Hollywood A-listers, including Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry, and music icons Taylor Swift and Beyonce, also sponsors the FEI’s annual Best Athlete award and has designed gowns for award winners Charlotte Dujardin and Adelinde Cornelissen.

“We have worked together with Reem Acra for six years now and are delighted to have this opportunity to strengthen our ties and take our partnership to another level, including the brand’s continued involvement in the FEI Awards,” said FEI President Ingmar de Vos, who flew to New York to sign the new agreement.

“It was fascinating to see Reem Acra in her own creative environment behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week. The focus on perfection is in many ways very similar to the work that our athletes go through behind the scenes to prepare for a winning Dressage test. This new chapter in our partnership will generate further global exposure of the Reem Acra brand, demonstrating the synergies between the brand and our sport, and attracting new audiences to Dressage.”

“We have already established a very successful partnership with the FEI during our time as title sponsor of FEI World Cup Dressage and really enjoy being associated with this prestigious Dressage series,” Reem Acra said. “I absolutely adore the grace and elegance of horses and the harmony of dressage resonates with me and with the style and elegance of my creative designs. I had no hesitation in extending our partnership to another level of commitment, to continue my association with equestrian sport and this world class event.”

Fashion Designer Reem Acra Encourages Equestrian Community to Celebrate Its Stars

10 June 2011 – International fashion designer Reem Acra, sponsor of the prestigious FEI World Cup Dressage series, is supporting the Best Athlete category of the FEI Awards for the second consecutive year.

The Beirut-born designer, whose clientele includes celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Beyonce Knowles, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Eva Longoria, built her successful design business with the same drive and determination that takes equestrian athletes to the summit of the sport. Commenting on the FEI Awards, which were launched by the governing body of international horse sport in 2009 to reward talent in and out of the arena, Reem Acra said:

“I am delighted to support the Best Athlete Award again this year. I have seen equestrian sport at its best and I know from my experience in the fashion world how tough it is to succeed when there is so much talent to compete with. This FEI Award will go to an athlete who has combined focused ambition with fair play, to a horse whose outstanding character and performances have endeared it to the public or to a really remarkable human and equine partnership. I hope the entire equestrian community will seize this opportunity to nominate their heroes, as it is a way of thanking them for the pleasure their inspirational performances have given us.”

Last year’s Reem Acra Best Athlete Award went to a combination – the superstar Dutch duo Edward Gal and Totilas – for their memorable contribution to equestrian sport. Gal, whose partnership with the much-loved black stallion ended in style in 2010 with, notably, three gold medals at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, said that receiving the award had been “the icing on the cake”.

This year’s winners will receive their awards in November at a gala evening in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the FEI General Assembly is taking place.

Nominations for the five-category FEI Awards (Reem Acra Best Athlete, HSBC Rising Star, Against All Odds, Development and Best Groom) are open until 31 July at www.feiawards.org.

London, 15 December 2010 – A group of children from one of London’s most disadvantaged boroughs got an early Christmas treat today (Wednesday 15 December), when they were invited by Hollywood fashion designer, Reem Acra, and the governing body for horse sport, the FEI, to attend one of the sport’s premier events in London.

The London International Horse Show at Olympia, venue for the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage, is one of the most glamorous events on the FEI calendar and is attended by members of the British Royal family and other high profile celebrities.

Today, children from the Ebony Horse Club charity got a chance to experience some of that glamour – from one of the best seats in the house.

International fashion designer Reem Acra, new sponsor of the FEI World Cup Dressage, invited the children to experience the magic of world-class Dressage whilst enjoying dinner in the sponsor’s hospitality suite.

The group also met one of the UK’s leading Dressage riders Laura Bechtolsheimer, who recently won three silver medals at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.

Reem Acra Brings a Fresh New Look to FEI World Cup Dressage

by Louise Parkes

There is a new spring in the step of the FEI World Cup Dressage Western European League as it begins its second quarter-century with the 2010/2011 opening leg at Odense, Denmark later this week. The recent announcement of a three-year sponsorship deal with fashion designer Reem Acra, who puts her name to both the Western European season and the overall series final, hails the blossoming of a fresh era in the history of this sport which has enjoyed astronomic growth in popularity in recent times.

Largely responsible for the upsurge of interest in top-class dressage has been a single horse-and-rider combination who won their way into the hearts of horse-lovers all around the world over the last 18 months during a sensational record-breaking spree.  The Netherlands’ Edward Gal and the fabulous black stallion Moorlands Totilas have, in terms of competitiveness, appeal and pure ability, raised the bar beyond all expectations and transformed the once-demure dressage world into a showcase of extreme excitement.  It was confirmed last week that the stallion has been sold however, and so his partnership with Gal is ended.  But their legacy is a raised profile for the sport on which they have left an indelible impression.
