Lexington, Ky. – May 15, 2019 – Wednesday welcomed the first day of the Kentucky Spring Classic and the start of international show jumping competition with the $36,000 Welcome Speed 1.45m CSI3* in the Rolex Stadium. Thirty-seven horse-and-athlete combinations challenged the 14-effort speed track built by Kelvin Bywater (GBR), but the uncatchable fault-free time of 63.89 seconds set forth by Brian Moggre (USA) and Major Wager LLC’s MTM Flutterby proved worthy of the win by more than one full second.

Jennifer Alfano and Kindred Claim Green Hunter Incentive Stake Win

The first day at the Kentucky Spring Classic kicked off in the Stonelea Ring with the Green Hunter Incentive Stake with top hunter horse-and-rider combinations competing for the prize. Pairs competed in the 3’6” and 3’9” sections of the Green Hunter division, with the second over fences round designated toward the stake’s final results. It was Jennifer Alfano and Kathy Chiaf’s Kindred who put in Wednesday’s most impressive ride that would earn them a score of 86, sending them straight at the top of the leaderboard.

Jennifer Alfano Tops Day Two of USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Championship

Jennifer Alfano and Castle.

Peter Wylde and Royal Flush Go All In for the Win in the 1.40m Open Jumpers at Bluegrass Festival Horse Show

Lexington, KY – August 12, 2015 – It was nearly one year ago that Jennifer Alfano spotted Castle in a schooling ring in Houston, Texas. Fellow professional rider Tracy Fenney was aboard the bay gelding, and after Alfano saw him take two jumps, she knew that she wanted to be the rider in his saddle. Her instincts proved correct as she topped the 2015 USHJA Pre-Green Hunter Incentive leader board Wednesday with the warmblood, owned by Sharon O’Neill of Snyder, New York, on the second of the three-day championship event.

“He was great; he is just so easy and so fun to ride,” Alfano said. “He has been an easy horse right from the start. He is quiet, and he doesn’t look at anything. He is just so straightforward. Today he was awesome.”

Alfano rode Castle to the scores of 86.5, 89 and 91 to not only take the first place as the high scoring round of the day, but also guaranteeing a return spot in Thursday’s championship round.

“Castle was great both days; he is really consistent. He is one of those horses you can really count on. You can really depend on him,” Alfano described.

Her cumulative score of 527.55 points from the two days of competition allows for them to return as the 10th horse and rider combination of the class on Thursday. Alfano nearly duplicated her effort with The Exchange, who she placed third with on the opening day, yet an unfortunate lead change would drop them from the top 30 qualified for the championship round.

“I was trying to redeem myself from the other round,” Alfano laughed. “It is hard in a class like this when you are just trying to get to the top 30; you put so much pressure on yourself. I just hope for the best, but I know I can always count on him.”

Castle’s owner, O’Neill, was thrilled with Alfano’s ride. “Jennifer picked him, she found him, she rides him, although I jumped every jump with her today,” she smiled. “I don’t know how he got us both around, but he did. It was thrilling, and it is something that you think about, but you never count on.”

Alfano has been a proponent of the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive program since its inception in 2013. Over the last three years, she has watched it continue to grow exponentially, and is thrilled with the increase of owners and riders at the 2015 Championship.

“I think it is great to see this many Pre-Green horses, and for the owners it is spectacular,” Alfano said. “It makes people want to own Pre-Green horses; it makes them want to invest in young talent. Look at how many people are watching this championship. It makes the owners really want to do this, and want to be involved.”

O’Neill commented, “It means a lot to see Jennifer finish at the top today. I have been in this business for a long time, and it is nice to have a good horse and a good rider; it really is.”

Going into the championship round on Thursday, Alfano and Castle will have their slate wiped clean. She is relying on his consistency to help her clinch the victory, a feat which has narrowly evaded her in the past.

Alfano concluded, “I feel good [about tomorrow]. He has been great for two days, so hopefully we can pull it off again; if not, then we have today!”

Scott Stewart continues to lead the overall ranks with Evermore, returning as the last contender of the event. They hold the lead with a total of 529 points, but Thursday will become anyone’s game.

“Evermore was good,” Stewart said of the 6-year-old gelding. “I thought he was almost as good as yesterday. He landed right after the outside line and he is a perfect lead changer; it was weird that he landed right, and I think I was a little rough forward, just being nervous, but I thought the rest of the round was as good as yesterday.”

Stewart also qualified Wish, owned by Rivers Edge, ranking fifth during the second over fences phase, and tied with Hunt Tosh and Liberty Road, owned by Betsee Parker. Although Stewart took the second position with William Hill during the second round, their first-day rail will keep them from the final phase of competition.

“Evermore is so laid back; I hope he has some energy left, but I think he will be good,” Stewart smiled.

The 2014 USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Champion said of defending his title with his two mounts, “It is the same as always. There is pressure, but I am just hoping to do well.”

Third place was awarded to Kelley Farmer and Clever Conversation, owned by Kensel, LLC. Farmer qualified five mounts for the final round, holding the best odds as the busiest rider of the class. Tosh finished in fourth place with Valhalla, owned by The Wheeler Family, qualifying three mounts for the concluding round.

The 2015 USHJA Pre-Green Incentive culminates Thursday with the third and final round of the competition, where the top 30 horses from Tuesday and Wednesday’s rounds will compete in a final over fences round. The final round will feature a “clean slate” format, meaning the scores from Tuesday and Wednesday will not carry forward.

Peter Wylde and Royal Flush Go All In for the Win in the 1.40m Open Jumpers at Bluegrass Festival Horse Show

Lexington, KY – August 12, 2015 – Now into its second day of competition, the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show brought 23 eager entrants to the Rolex Stadium to compete in the first day of jumper action, highlighted by the 1.40m Open Jumper class that concluded the afternoon. Riders faced off against the clock over a speed course, and mid-way through the pack, Peter Wylde and Royal Flush, owned by Kathleen Kamine of Oldwick, New Jersey, took their chance at the blue. They bested the current leader’s time of 63.274 seconds, set by Denise Wilson and Nimbus, with the faster 62.467 second round.

Although 11 pairs tried to chase down Wylde and his speedy mount, none were able to overtake them.

Wylde
Peter Wylde and Royal Flush

“All I really need to think about is taking the winning track. If I take the plan that I think will put her on the right stride, typically she will take care of the jumps for you,” Wylde said of his strategy with Royal Flush. “She was quick pretty much everywhere. She made really fantastic turns, even to the triple, which we made a really tight turn to and she handled that well. She’s a really good turner and very competitive that way. You can turn very short to jumps and never worry that she is going to knock them down.”

Looking at her pedigree, Royal Flush has a lot to live up to, but she seems to have taken the challenge in stride and has been living up to her name, perhaps even making a name of her own.

“Royal Flush is a wonderful horse. She was bred by the people that own her, the Kamine family. She is the daughter of Royal Kaliber, which was their Olympic horse, and she is out of a mare called Wildana, another grand prix horse that they owned. She is really home-bred,” Wylde said.

In the past four competitions in which the mare has participated, she has earned two champion finishes, two reserve spots, and two third place positions, rarely finishing off the podium. In the only Grand Prix of her show career, Royal Flush finished an impressive third. Wylde picked up the ride on the 9-year-old at the end of last summer, and sung nothing but praises for the horse that he thinks is one of the next up-and-comers in the jumper ring.

“We have been bringing her along, and she has really come into herself in the last year. She is really hitting her stride and every time we go to the ring with her, she has been incredibly competitive,” Wylde commented. “She is very careful, very smart, and is really a winner. She has an incredible spirit about her. It’s great and so exciting. It is fun to have such a wonderful horse at our stable.”

The time set by Wilson and Nimbus was good enough to maintain their place just behind the first place finishers, followed by Meagan Nusz aboard Vesuvius, owned by Amalaya Investments of Houston, Texas, in the third position. The horse and rider tripped the timers in 64.709 seconds. Eight other duos mastered designer Allen Rheinheimer’s course, leaving all the jumps up and crossing the timer within the time allowed.

In the 1.35m Open Jumpers, which took place just prior to the 1.40m Open Jumpers, 25 hopeful entrants took to the expansive ring of the Rolex Stadium to vie for the top prize. Unlike the 1.40m class, where half of the total entries rode to a clean and clear trip, only six pairs conquered the colorful track to make it to the jump-off. The lead consistently changed hands as quicker and quicker trips were produced by each subsequent jump-off effort. It appeared that Carlos Quinones, with the ride aboard Yidam, would be named the winners with their time of 69.803 seconds, that is until Kyle Dewar and his own Gomez Van De Withoeve, nearly the last to go, edged out the frontrunners with their quick marks of 69.282 seconds.

Dewar has owned the towering 9-year-old ‘Gomez,’ as he is dubbed outside the show ring, for a year and a half, and the two are starting to put up good numbers after a rocky start to their career together.

“He did some grand prix as an 8-year-old, and some days were amazing and some days were terrible, which I think was due to an underlying muscle problem. He was sick through Florida, but now he is very healthy and has won a lot of prizes; we’ve been much more consistent. Since the beginning of June he has been awesome. He is my upcoming grand prix horse,” Dewar said.

Gomez is perhaps the definition of a gentle giant, standing at nearly 18 hands and exuding nothing but friendliness. Although he does not exemplify the typical image of a fiery jumper type, his owner has deemed his calm demeanor and hard-working attitude as a major factor in their success.

“He is the best character at the horse show. He is not the best jumper, not the most careful, not even the bravest, but he is the best guy in the world; he is so kind,” Dewar noted. “My 3-year-old daughter can go into his stall, and they’ll lie down and hang out. She gives him carrots and loves on him; he is the best.”

Dewar and Gomez will try to prolong their winning ways this Friday Night in the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic.

Quinones and Yidam, owned by Michelle Navarro-Grau of Wellington, Florida, retained their second place position, followed by Daniel Begoya in the saddle for Eduardo Leon of Houston, Texas, aboard Prestige, who claimed third place with their time of 70.260 seconds. Dewar, Quinones and Begoya were the only three to ride to double-clear rounds, with the other three jump-off riders succumbing to downed rails.

The Bluegrass Festival Horse Show features five days of exciting jumper competition. The highlight jumper events in the Rolex Stadium include the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic on Friday and the $40,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix on Sunday.

Jennifer Alfano and Havens Schatt Share Grand Championship at Kentucky Spring Classic

Havens Schatt and Custom Made.

Lexington, KY – May 14, 2015 – Havens Schatt and Jennifer Alfano battled neck and neck for the blue ribbons on day one of the professional hunter divisions at the Kentucky Spring Classic. The two friendly leading riders and their horses were back it today, eventually tying for the grand championship.

Beginning with the First Year Green Hunters, Schatt demonstrated her determination atop two entries, Custom Made and Capital City. In the over-fences class, Schatt piloted Custom Made to a first-place finish, ending up second in the handy and first on the flat to earn the division championship.

Custom Made, who is owned by Shaw Johnson Price, became a minor celebrity after jumping out of the Rost Arena with Schatt aboard at the Winter Equestrian Festival, but today the 10-year-old gelding was on his best behavior.

“I think Custom Made is really in a good place right now,” Schatt commented. “I’m a big believer that if you just take your time and help them try to understand, it’s not that difficult. They learn a lot.”

Schatt and Capital City were awarded the reserve championship for their winning handy round combined with a third-place and finish over fences.

“Everything you ask Capital City to do, he’s game to do it,” Schatt said. “He’s always right there to pick up the slack. This was the first week that he was really able to put everything together in every class, but he’s only 7, so he has way less experience than a horse like Custom Made.”

The Green and Regular Conformation Hunters were the next to show, with both Kelley Farmer and Peter Wylde in contention for the top spots. In the over-fences class, Farmer took home the blue atop Back Story, the big bay gelding owned by Tia Schurecht. The pair finished third in the handy and first on the flat, racking up enough points for the division championship.

“Back Story had a little break, but it’s awesome to have him back,” Farmer said. “As a First Year horse, he was champion at Devon, reserve at Capital Challenge, but he pretty much took the last year off. I think we’re right on track for being ready for Devon again. He’s a big, strong horse, and it’s not hard for him at all.”

Wylde and Levland, the 8-year-old entry owned by The Levland Group, were hot on her heels, taking home first place in the handy and coming in second to Farmer over fences and on the flat. The duo earned the division’s reserve championship for their efforts.

“We bought Levland to be a Grand Prix jumping star, but turns out Levland doesn’t like the water jump very much,” Wylde laughed. “He’s so beautiful and he’s such a good jumper that I thought maybe he would make a good hunter. We’re just starting with him, and I think he’s going to be a really good horse. I’m just so excited because he does it really well, and he’s beautiful to ride; he has Grand Prix scope.”

Havens Schatt and Set to Music
Havens Schatt and Set to Music

The day continued with the Second Year Green Hunter division, with Alfano and Schatt returning to face off once again. Schatt and Set to Music, owned by Deborah Perkins, improved from Wednesday’s second-place finishes, delivering three winning rounds to sweep day two and earn the division’s championship. The duo also accumulated enough points to tie Alfano and High Performance Hunter Maggie May for the overall co-grand championship.

“Set to Music is just so scopey,” Schatt said. “He’s like 15.2, so when you’re cantering to those big jumps, it’s a little nerve-wracking, but then he just does it with no problem. He’s just now coming into his own to put everything together, each and every time. That little horse knows how to turn it on at the big shows, but in between at the smaller shows, you’re like ‘come on, Calvin!’ He just knows when it matters.”

Rounding out the Second Years were Alfano and Candid, the previous day’s victors. The pair finished second over fences and third on the flat, earning the reserve championship.

It was Alfano’s time to shine in the High Performance Hunters with Helen Lenahan’s Maggie May. The mare won four out of the division’s five blue ribbons, earning the championship and joining Schatt for the overall co-grand championship.

“Maggie was great today,” Alfano remarked. “She went beautifully, and I’m so happy with her. I’ve had her for several years, and she’s just really coming into her own. She always was a great athlete, but she wasn’t really consistent. Now, you can call on her, and it’s really nice. We went slowly with her, and it’s paying off. She’s so smooth and pretty that when she does it right, she is so nice.”

The division’s reserve champion award went to Schatt and Mostly Sunny, the flashy chestnut owned by CH Farm LLC.

“Mostly Sunny is like my child,” Schatt gushed. “He can do no wrong in my eyes. He’s only 7, he’s inexperienced, but he’s so scopey that he won’t learn anything from the 3’3. At 3’6, he’s not really ready beat all of Scott’s great horses, but he’s got to go in there and learn.”

At the end of the day, both Alfano and Schatt were happy to share the Grand Championship honors. Alfano commented, “Getting co-grand champion with Havens was really fun. We’re friends, so it is always nice to be able to have this award at this show.”

Schatt agreed, saying, “It’s nice; it’s a great award. The level of competition at this horse show is so great; I think it’s really nice to have a grand championship. Jen’s a great rider, and she had an amazing day yesterday, and I couldn’t beat her,” Schatt laughed. “My horses were super today, and everything just fell into place. That’s how it goes with horse showing.”

Coverage will continue Friday with the USEF Platinum Performance Talent Search 2*. Saturday is “Derby Day,” with the $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby taking center stage.

Five Blue Ribbons for Jennifer Alfano on Day One of Kentucky Spring Classic

Jennifer Alfano and Candid.

Lexington, KY – May 13, 2015 – After dominating the top two spots in Sunday’s USHJA International Hunter Derby, Jennifer Alfano and her stunning lineup of hunters started day one of the Kentucky Spring Classic with a bang.

The chilly morning began in the Stonelea Ring with the First Year Green Hunters, as Alfano piloted the flashy Me Again, owned by Helen Lenahan, to first and second place finishes.

“Me Again was awesome in the First Years,” Alfano said. “He’s still really green, so he has his moments of brilliance, and then moments of ‘I’m not sure how to do it.’ Today was a moment of brilliance. He’s really starting to put it together, and I’ve been really happy with him. He’s starting to get consistent and get his act together.”

Rounding out the division, Havens Schatt took the blue atop Custom Made in the first over-fences class and finished third in the second class.

The day continued with the Green and Regular Conformation Hunters. Russell Frey, in the saddle on Saville Row, delivered two smooth rounds to capture first and second place. Despite the drop in temperature, the grey gelding was on his best behavior.

“He has a lot of confidence,” trainer Lynn Jayne said. “The weather doesn’t bother him; nothing bothers him. He’s very straightforward.”

Russell Frey and Saville Row
Russell Frey and Saville Row

Despite only switching to Jayne’s training program last Monday, 7-year-old Saville Row went around the course like an old pro. Rider Russell Frey added, “I knew him last year as a Pre-Green horse, and I told Lynn, ‘A building could fall down next to him and he wouldn’t care.’ He’s a good horse to have in the barn; he tries to win. He has a lot of self-confidence.”

The Second Year Green Hunters were next to show, with Alfano back in the saddle on her horse Candid. The big bay gelding, who goes by Sheldon in the barn, impressed the judges with his performances. The duo swept the first day of the division, taking home two blue ribbons.

“Candid was really good today,” Alfano said. “This is sort of our last show before Devon, so he’s right on track. He was great both rounds, so I’m really happy with him.”

Schatt was hot on Alfano’s heels, and the judges awarded her and Deborah Perkins’ Set to Music’s efforts with second place ribbons in both classes.

The first day of the Kentucky Spring Classic wrapped up with the High Performance Hunters, where Alfano showcased the ability of Billie Steffee’s horse, Maggie May. The pair won both classes, ending Alfano’s show day on a high note.

“Maggie May was great today,” Alfano said. “I didn’t show her last week in the division; I just did her in the derby, and I figured that was enough for the week. I just wanted to get her in the division once before Devon, and she was awesome both rounds today.”

Once again, Schatt followed closely behind, putting in two great trips and earning two second place ribbons atop Mostly Sunny, the big chestnut owned by CH Farm LLC.

The professional hunter divisions will continue Thursday in the Stonelea Ring at the Kentucky Spring Classic. Coverage will continue Friday with the USEF Platinum Performance Talent Search 2*. Saturday is “Derby Day,” with the $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby taking place.

Jennifer Alfano Takes 1-2 Finish with Jersey Boy and Miss Lucy in $15,000 USHJA Hunter Derby

Jennifer Alfano and Jersey Boy.

Lexington, KY – May 10, 2015 – In the world of hunter derbies, one name always stands out: Jersey Boy. Today, the 13-year-old chestnut gelding, better known as Lewis, delivered two textbook rounds with Jennifer Alfano during the WCHR Member Event, the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, earning a total of 401 points to capture first place overall.

Rider Jennifer Alfano was skeptical about the class, due to the fact that Jersey Boy was so well behaved in the schooling ring. “Lewis is a little temperamental at times; you never really know with him,” Alfano laughed.

From the moment the duo stepped in to the ring, however, it was obvious that Jersey Boy had decided he wanted to impress. Taking all the higher options, Alfano navigated Jersey Boy smoothly through Bobby Murphy’s course, earning a 94 and 96 for the classic round.

“I haven’t ridden a lot of horses that can gallop and jump like he does,” Alfano said. “He is one of those that can stay on the gallop and turn and jump. He is so naturally balanced that I think the turning comes so easy for him.”

The pair especially excelled in the handy, pulling in scores of 92 and 94 from the judges. Adding on 4 points for taking the high options, and 9 and 8 handy points, respectively, Jersey Boy delivered the highest-scoring round of the day. “He definitely excels at the handy,” Alfano said. “That’s his thing.”

Alfano also impressed the judges on Miss Lucy, another mount she holds dear to her heart. Miss Lucy is back after almost two years, and has not slowed down a bit. Coming off of a derby win at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, the mare put in another outstanding performance today to secure second place overall with a score of 374.

“It’s awesome to have Miss Lucy back,” Alfano said. “Aside from what she does in the ring, she is just a special horse. I’m very lucky to have the two of them.”

Tammy Provost and Kallisto earned a total score of 366.5 to claim third place, with Alfano back atop Miramar earning a 365.5 for fourth place. Fifth place was awarded to Havens Schatt, who piloted Savannah to a score of 360 points. Sarah Young and Gabriella rounded out the top six with a score of 357.

Alfano’s four entries all placed in the top 12 and will return to the Kentucky Horse Park in August for the long-anticipated 2015 USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship.

Earlier in the day, the $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby was underway, with Sarah Sturges leading the event from start to finish aboard Jessica Blum’s Conan. A smooth opening round resulted in a score of 93, and the pair retuned to the handy, receiving a 92 and utilizing the high options for a four-point boost.

“He likes to jump the jumps,” Sturges explained. “If I get him where he needs to be, he takes care of the rest of it. He’s pretty straightforward. He coasts around and he does his thing and I try to stay out of the way.”

Kelli Cruciotti and Totem Pole gave Sturges a run for her money, coming in second by a 2.5-point differential. The judges awarded their efforts with scores of 92 and 90.5 for a 182.5 total.

“Totem Pole was fantastic,” Cruciotti said. “He’s been a work in progress for the last three years. We bought him, and then he got hurt. We almost had to put him down. We redid everything and now he is coming back, so it’s kind of like a fairytale that he is being a super star. I cannot thank my sponsors and my team enough, it has been a wonderful day, and I love this class; it’s my favorite.”

Havens Schatt returned next riding Sans Souci for CH Farm LLC, having received a score of 90 in the first round. The pair earned a score of 91 in the handy. However, Cruciotti’s classic round score would give her a leg up for the second place honors, while Schatt would settle for third place today.

Sturges’ victory has her sitting at the top of the Hallway Feeds Leading Rider Bonus leader board, a place she knows all too well. In 2013, Sturges was awarded the $2,500 bonus as the leading amateur rider, and last year her trainer, Christopher Payne of New Hope LLC captured the $10,000 professional leading rider bonus. As an event of the five-part series, the Hallways Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby has become a staple at the spring and summer shows, and will continue into the summer series. The leading riders will be presented with the cash prizes at the end of the Bluegrass Festival on August 16, 2015.

“It definitely helps to start out on top,” Sturges said. “We are only an hour away, so we will definitely compete in the series, but whether or not I win the bonus, it is a fun class. I turned professional at the end of 2013, so it is fun trying to rack up the points for the professional bonus.”

The final day of the Kentucky Spring Horse Show concluded with the Grand Championships, sponsored by Visse Wedell of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Emma Kurtz was awarded the Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Grand Championship for her efforts in the Small Junior 15 and Under Hunter division with Frederick, owned by David Gochman. The Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Reserve Grand Championship went to Vivian Yowan and Ransom, owned by Saddle Ridge LLC.

It was the Gochman sisters, Sophie and Mimi, who snatched up the Pony Hunter Grand Championship and Pony Hunter Reserve Grand Championship, respectively. Sophie rode Bit of Love to the high point award during the Small Pony Hunters, while Mimi took the second tricolor for her efforts in the Large Pony Hunters.

The Kentucky Spring Classic will continue May 13-17, 2015, with the $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby in the Stonelea Ring. Both weeks of the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows will offer WIHS & NAL classics for Children’s & Adult hunter and jumper riders as well as $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classics.

Lexington, KY – October 31, 2014 – The National Horse Show, 131st edition, welcomed the top hunter riders in the nation to the Alltech Arena. Kicking off the week, the professional hunters vied for the prestigious honors, with SBS Farms and Jennifer Alfano leaving their mark on Lexington. Candid topped a field of competitors during the Green Conformation Hunters, riding to the reserve rosette.

It was only two years ago that Alfano purchased a young horse for the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program. She saw a horse with the capacity to climb the ranks and become one of the industry’s best. Together, they dominated the Pre-Green Hunters throughout 2013, and fresh off the Pennsylvania National Horse Show Grand Hunter Championship, they showcased their talents at the National Horse Show.

Alfano rode the gelding to second place over fences, as well as third place in the handy on the opening day of the show. They were also awarded second place for Candid’s conformation during the Green Conformation Hunter model. On the second day of competition Candid surpassed competitors to take second place in the stake, and also captured the red ribbon during the under saddle.

“It is always really special to win on Candid because he is my horse, and one that I have been able to bring up through the ranks,” Alfano said. “He was so consistent this week, and it was really fun to compete at the National Horse Show. It is such a prestigious event, and it has a very historic feel.”

Alfano also earned good ribbons with Billie Steffee’s Maggie May. Steffee was onsite to see the bay Brandenberger mare put forth consistent rounds during the Second Year Green Hunters. The SBS Farms team will now have a rest before the start of the winter circuit.
